My shade is Moorea in this foundation - its a new shade and its super yellow/golden so I was happy to see they added colors like that!

That was my winter color but it’s too light for my summer time glow.
I wish they sent you the kit with all the colors in the little bottles! Then you could have seen if that color you’re missing was your perfect match!

I have oily/combo skin and I actually love this foundation. I've been using it almost everyday for the past few weeks. I was afraid the radiance would be too much for me but it stayed put for 12+ hours with very minimal shine... I use the shade Macao and I used their pore and oil control primer and then set the foundation with their pressed powder in the shade Mountain. Works for me 🤷🏽♀
Hey Shayla girl, just wanted to say that NARS has lots of golden yellow undertone foundations. For me, they come off as a tinge too yellow. They are actually pretty well known for it. The shade Tahoe is a good example. And there new shade Moorea just to name a couple. Maybe you could mix Tahoe with Cadiz or mix Moorea with it. I don’t know lol.

I literally rushed out to get this foundation as soon as it dropped like 1.5 months ago bc all of CZcams was raving about it but I was wonder why I couldn’t find the right color and why it didn’t work for me. You articulated it so well. You and I are actually like an exact match, I can usually just buy the exact colors you use and I’m good so it’s no surprise to me that u don’t have a match, I didn’t either!!!! I was wondering why bc everyone was raving about the foundation! Thanks for making me not feel crazy!
I tried Macao and it ended up being too dark I went with Caracas and love it. I refuse to buy two colors.
Me too.. Macao was too dark after it oxidized... I considered Caracas but I'm trying Belem... Hopefully it won't be too dark...
Update! I tried Belem and it looked Nice! They sent a few samples that had Cadiz and Caracas, let's just say Caracas looked great on me... I think I'm going to return Belem and use Caracas! 😊
I am oily no combo and I love this foundation. I use the too face sweet peachy matte primer... I set it was my MAC powder and it’s been 10 hours and my face looks good. Yes, I had oil come through around hour 6 but I looked hydrated not oily and greasy. I recommend a good primer and setting spray if you are oily like me. YES, I am oily but I don’t always want to look matte and boring. I hope this helps someone because the foundation is really beautiful.

I like the finish but for some reason I did not like the color because it made you look kind of red. But you made it work and it looks very nice. You definitely have skills.
Thanks for this video because I’ve been feeling the same way about the colors not having enough of a yellow tone! I’ve had mine sitting here for about 3 weeks or so and still haven’t wore it! I think I’m gonna take it back and try the smash box one! You look beautiful by the way

And honestly Shayla, you were exactly right when you mentioned the foundation looking gray... I swatched all of the darker shades at Sephora this weekend and every single last one of them was gray!!! Pretty much casket ready shades for deeper skin tones..
jodiii122 The formulas look grey on you because they are the wrong undertone. There are people from South Sudan who are wearing the darker shades with no problem.
I see your point, but let me clarify.. [For reference I'm in between an NW 43 & NW 45 from Mac. I wear New Orleans in the Nars All Day Luminous foundation. (a little dark for me but I use concealer to make it work)] For shades in this range that I swatched from the new Nars foundation, they all looked gray to me .. the undertones were all off

I think you look amazing 🙋🏿Question am I'm the only black girl with dry skin? I love this foundation. NARS finally made my shade 'aruba' and ironically my husband picked it .I've dragged him to Sephora so many times he's a beauty guru. For years I've been wearing Cadiz and looking like orange.
China Shelby definitely not the only black girl with dry skin, mine is super dry... Had to adopt a skin care routine to combat it

No girl I’m black & my skin is super dry, my face is like a block of cement I need ALL the dewy skincare and makeup to look alive lol. But I read somewhere that dry skin is less common than oily skin in general

My shade is Valencia and it really is the perfect match. I used to make Syracuse “work” but it was always a tad dark and waayyy too brown for my golden/olive undertone.

It's beautiful on you Shay! It along with Fenty foundation is my favorite! I know you're not using it at the moment but I'm combination to oily as well and this works great with the Tarte clean slate primer. 😬
I have combo-oily skin and I’m in the shade Cadiz! I tested it at work, after 6 hours or so, it started breaking down in my t zone! I really wanted to love it because it looked so flawless when I first applied it. Maybe I’ll try it again with a different primer or powder

The NARS foundations NEEDED more neutral undertones. They had a lot of peach/yellow/red undertones.
I’ve been wearing the foundation for about a month and a half. I really like it! We’ll see how it performs in the humid southern summer heat though.
Reese Reaves what color are you? I’m neutral and between Tahoe and Cardiz and Macoe. Tahoe too light/warm. Cadiz is great shade wise but too red. Macao is too dark.

MissNelly I wear Macao because the lighter shades close to it were too pink and red for me as well. I’m neutral in undertone- reds look god awful on me. I want to try mixing it with Moorea. In a perfect world, they would have made Seychelles in this formula (Velvet Matte Skin Tint).
Amande is my complexion shade concealer/ Caramel for highlight.
Honestly, Becca Aqua Luminous in Warm Honey is my go to highlight. It’s a beautiful shade- you may like it in combo with another yellow concealer. It blends well with others.
Tmac1963 oooo it is. I used to love in Ft. Lauderdale. I moved to Georgia, the air is so much “heavier” in the summer. I’m testing the MAC water weight concealer and will probably use half a pump or moisturizer in the summer. Kind of a “no makeup, makeup”.
Reese Reaves I’m trying out a lot of the water based moisturizer to see if a lighter formula will give my skin what I need. I’ve used
Farsali Rose Gold Elixir all Fall and Winter and it got rid of any dull patches on my skin. But I’m not sure how it will perform in the summer.
I was excited when Nars announced new shades but disappointed that none of them are still a match. Moorea is the closest but only problem is it has golden and olive undertones. If it were just a golden or warm undertone it'd be perfect.
Yolanda W. I wear nars velvet matte foundation in Seychelles and that's a medium dark with golden and olive undertones you should check it out !
Have you tried Macao? I think it has warm yellow/golden undertone.

I TOTALLY agree! They need a little more “golden” in their shades. I thought I was Macao but, i needed more yellow so, I went with New Orleans. Not perfect but I do like the finish

You would love the color Caracas! It's a tad bit lighter than Macao but warm. That's why I love Nars, they made a olive shade Macao but made 2 shades right below and above it that are warm. So annoying how Nars didn't send you more colors

I found that Nars foundation only work best with Nars primers. Try the Nars oil control primer to see if that make a difference with the foundations wear.

Essence Bennett yup she uses Macao??????? So this tells me that she films with different lenses to fool her audience. She is a few shades darker than Shayla.

I think I will pass. I’m oily and I live in Florida with all the humidity we get, this foundation almost doesn’t stand a chance. I’m looking at the new Bobbi Brown foundation but I just got Maybelline super stay and I love it so much I can rock it right into Spring! But if I happen to be in Sephora and try it and like, all bets off! Lol
I actually got a sample and I have oily combination so I used it everywhere but my nose and forehead bc those are my oily areas and I used the Clinique in the middle and it was gorgeous so beautiful ima use that my prom day
you're like the first person I've ever heard say you'd recommend to go darker vs lighter. everyone always says they'd go lighter over darker but I so agree with you. like I am NOT tryna look like a ghost and you can always lighten it with concealer and powder

Shayla, I bought that foundation a couple wks ago from Nordies and returned it. I purchased Cadiz, and it was a fail! Third Nars foundation I’ve tried and returned. 🤷🏽♀️

Try Caracus, it's a shade darker than Cadiz, but it has a similar undertone to Macao. Just in case you actually want to keep using that foundation 😊 I'm sure you have a lot of favorites.

The most accurate foundation review ever. I purchased it Monday and wore it three consecutive days. I LOVE IT! That’s because I have dry skin. But! I need to add some yellow to it, so I’m going to mix in some MAC 45C.

I have combo (oily t-zone and normal everywhere else's). I honestly LOOOVE this foundation on myself. I set my face with powder and it lasts a long time on me. This has been the first Nars foundation that I have had actually work on me.

Sis I love all of NARS products except for their foundation ... it makes me look orange ... to me Lancôme is still winning when it comes to foundation for WOC ... NARS needs to keep trying ... I love their products tho ❤️
Pro Se Lulu Lancome is an amazing brand. However, if you have one of those difficult to match super warm or super yellow undertones, there is a reason why NARS has a cult following for those in that category. People not as warm, closer to neutral or cool will have a hard time finding a match with NARS. They fill in the gaps left open by most brands.
Grace Sigunga note that I said it makes “me” look orange! Lancôme is the best for me and there is no “however” for me ... 😀

I tried this for three days using it with the NARS primer. Two days applying it with a brush and today with beauty blender and all three days as soon as the oil started to produce in my nose the foundation disappeared 👀. Then around my mouth it looked like cake. Don’t know why then if I touched it, it would look worse 🙄. I wanted to like this but none of the NARS foundations work on my skin 😔. It goes on nice but doesn’t last 😩.

I have dry to normal skin and this foundation looks and worked out great ! 😏
My number one though is still the Lancôme tient longwear foundation. Lasts all day even when you get sweaty. The NARS lasted maybe 3.5 hours and then started to wear down and not look great by the end of the day like my Lancôme does. For me I thought my shade was too warm lol (Stromboli ) but testing more shades that was the only one that works for my tone.

You should try the middle shade. I like the next darker from Cadiz and the one lighter than Macao it was like Carcass or something like that. Its filming bomb though in the video... I like the way it looks the two mixes. I also like the way the chin to neck looks it does not look mask.

I’m confused about NARS. So this lasts longer than the Sheer Glow with better coverage? I loved the Sheer Glow but couldn’t find a match. I’m in between Fiji n Stromboli. Everything in between is too neutral or pink. Def am not buying two shades. I’m wondering if they made my shade since it’s been 7 years. I’ll have to check it out.
pincheyoya they probably have your shade now. I’m between Barcelona and Syracuse in sheer glow & I’m also very golden/olive. Their new shade Valencia matches me perfect.

First of all, you’re bold as hell for doing your makeup in a white tee. Also, I love the way you explained this foundation...so descriptive. This really gave me a solid vibe about this foundation ✊🏿
Just that you there are other shades that has gold under tones to match your skin tone. I think you should go lighter maybe just the Cadz to see if it matches your skin tone. Valencia is a color with gold under tome that may fit you more.
