Goldfrapp, an English electronic music duo hailing from London, was formed in 1999 by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory. Their debut studio album, "Felt Mountain" in 2000, despite receiving favorable reviews and a Mercury Prize nomination, did not achieve significant chart success. However, Goldfrapp's musical trajectory took a dynamic turn with their second album, "Black Cherry," released in 2003, which infused glam rock and synth-pop elements into their sound.
Their third album, "Supernature," propelled Goldfrapp into international acclaim with its dance-oriented tracks, spawning three number-one US dance singles and earning a Grammy nomination. Throughout their career, Goldfrapp continued to evolve their sound, with albums like "Seventh Tree," which leaned towards ambient and downtempo music, and "Head First," exploring 1980s-influenced synth-pop.
Their sixth studio album, "Tales of Us," released in 2013, received critical acclaim for its folktronica-inspired sound. In 2017, Goldfrapp released "Silver Eye," which debuted at number six on the UK Albums Chart. Additionally, Alison Goldfrapp ventured into a solo career, releasing her debut solo album "The Love Invention" in May 2023, further showcasing her versatility and creativity in the music industry.
