Jesus' character was wasted in the show. The actor, Tom Payne, actually learned martial arts for his character, but they barely used him so he asked to be killed off. In the comics, he played a much bigger role in All Out War and even attacked and subdued Negan. In the show, he was basically just Maggie's errand boy.

@@Ram.21. That was such a powerful introduction to his character when he singlehandedly fought off Rick and Daryl without even breaking a sweat. They only overpowered him when they got him at gunpoint. I was so stoked for his character given what I knew about him in the comics. Then when he killed the Saviors to save Glenn and Heath at the satellite station. Man, was I was hyped for this character, only to be disappointed. As I said above, he just became Maggie's errand boy and nothing more. I kind of wish he would have embraced the role after the actress who played Maggie left and fully took on the role of the leader of the Hilltop, which he was at the time of his death. This episode is one of the scariest episodes of The Walking Dead. Even though I knew who and what the Whisperers were, the show had it’s very own way in introducing them, even making the comic-audience interested in this episode. Especially the scene with Eugene explaining that the walkers are going in circles around the cabin he was hiding in, made me and many more people watching the scene feel uneasy. And the fact that our characters thought the walkers were evolving, because they have never been confronted with such a situation, is also a thing that the show-audience would find the most sensible answer to this paranormality.

A shame it went downhill after this again. The Whisperers revealed themselves too soon and after this episode and Jesus' death they were never as scary again. It became action over horror and all the mystery and terror of the Whisperers just went out the window as so many red shirts threw themselves at the protagonists who killed them with ease and they massively underutilised the very tactic that made them so horrifying in the comics: hiding among walkers and the suspense and fear of knowing any walker could be a Whisperer. The characters figured that out pretty quickly and straight away learned they're just people wearing walker skin masks and they look so obvious it's like a child dressing up as a ghost. This episode and the penultimate episode of the season are the only ones that really captured how unpredictable, dangerous, and terrifying the Whisperers are, and that feeling of the unknown, being stalked and that they could jump out and kill you at any time like Viet Cong hiding in the jungle

@dimitrescu182 I just don't think they are good at writing wars and making entire seasons out of them. Theyre good at creating tension building up to a conflict, but the conflict itself takes too long and has too many working parts. Idk, in Game of Thrones it works, because it's a large world with warring factions and political intrigue, but in TWD, characters are just making dumb decisions and shooting people for 16 episodes. Like, the conflict in 3B worked because it didn't drag on, unless you count 4A as it dragging on to conclude in 4x8, which I don't. 3x8 the two factions (The Prison and Woodbury) collide, and throughout 3B they attack eachother, make plans, make deals, and some characters go rogue, and it ends in a way that's unexpected. Instead of having one big battle where one group eliminates the other, the just drive the Governor out and he kills all his own soldiers, then they take in the people of Woodbury, and a whole new conflict plays out in 4A against a non human enemy. And then the conflict against Terminus lasted literally 3 episodes. The horde in S6 dragged on a bit but at least it was over in 9 episodes. But the Savior war was set up in 6B, built up in S7, and took another whole season to play out. And like S10, there's a lot of filler and soap opera drama, procrastinating and characters going rogue and doing dumb shit that gets everyone in more shit, until they're ready to just take the war to them

Season 3 has always been my favorite because the prison arc is when I was introduced to the show so it has a nostalgic place in my heart of that feeling of waiting for a brand new episode every Sunday (and a TWD marathon every weekend just to lead into the new episode...good times)
But in terms of storytelling and pacing, Season 9 absolutely takes the cake imo. Ironically, taking Rick out of the equation was a good move. Even tho characters like Michonne and Daryl were still main leads with lots of screen time, the show was able to let newer or different characters get more screen time like Judith, Magna's group, Henry and Lydia, Alpha and the Whisperers while other main side characters like Jesus, Aaron, Eugine, Gabriel and Rosita all got something to do this season
Plus the Whisperers were just a breath of fresh air and provided such a tense atmosphere for the second half of the season. Every episode would have us asking "are those walkers or whisperers?" What a time to be a TWD fan tbh. Angela Kang replacing Scott Gimple as showrunner was absolutely the best choice they could've made behind the scenes!

The reason season 9 had the biggest viewer drop off was because fans got tired of the plot being the same over and over and refusing to progress the plot due to milking the show.
The main reason people was intrigued is because we thought they would've progress to the point seeing different walkers and what caused the virus.
But 11 seasons in, nothing is answered, and to make it worse every season was the same, the group had to fight a dictator.
Its hard enough to watch 11 seasons of anything, but 11 seasons of the samething it becomes extremely boring and predictable.

    S1 - 3 Of TWD And FTWD.
S1 Of Both Shows Showed Kinda Intelligent Walkers
    S2 Did The Same
But S3, Remember that scene with Merle And The Gang Escaping Woodbury?,
    S3 Of Fear,
Episode 1, The Mexican Walkers Sneaked Up On Troy's Militia
Episode 3, When Daniel Was Praying, The Walker Stared At Him with Confusion but then God Hits It With His Lightning.
Episode 12, When Troy led The Walkers To Ranch And Alicia Had To Defend It, Walkers Were Literally
Crawling and Pushing The RVs with their Mights, Grabbing People Aggressively.
Episode 13, With Nick And Troy Tried To Led The Horde Way, They Accidentally Damaged Their Truck and had to Go To the Broken Helicopter, A Walker Grabbed Nick's Grenade Launcher.
(I didn't watch S7 because it was shitty) but some episodes in S7 showed a Walker Smacking Someone's Gun.
For Me, My theory with the Wildfire Virus are Simple.
    1. Some Countries Wanted To Resurrect Their Dead Soldiers so tehy probably Made a Virus That Would "Revive" it (it could be from Earth, Space, Oceans), Obviously it didn't work cause it only revived the Brainstem and Gaved It's hosts an Unending Hunger For Flesh.
    2. The CRM Created This Thing so that they could rule the world but it obviously backfired.

Loved this video, perfectly describes this period of the walking dead. I started watching the walking dead 8 months ago on Christmas Eve, so I was really new to the whole twd universe, knew nothing about the comics etc. I remember watching this episode and being so excited for the evolution/variant path that they seemed to be taking, when it turned out to be humans behind masks, I'm not gonna lie, it definitely did disappoint me a little bit. Obviously my opinion changed as the season went on, and I ended up liking the whole whisperer story too but I still always thought that the evolution/variant walker story would be so cool also. I still think this, hopefully we get some variant walker action in the new spin offs. I hope it is a larger thing and not just a side thing that they shrug off again because I genuinely think evolution/variant walkers has so much potential. Anyway, great video!

Once I fought through the previous 2 or 3 seasons I was pleased with season 9. I tought the show would be In trouble with Rick gone. But to be honest I really enjoyed the 9th 10th and 11th season. I did not miss Rick and the show was In my opinion so good I could binge the show once again. Saying that I'm shore the show would of been good with Rick. But i feel the other cast got to do more and the new bunch that meets Judith In the wood all did good for me. Now iv never seen Fear or world beyond. And as a fan I wish Amc started the spin off with dead city. Iv no problem watching the story and us finding out more from original people rather than new show with new cast. Iv see alot of people not liking fear so I'll not watch it. I usually look at recaps so I'll know if something important happens. But one thing I'd like to see in future is more of the original cast In spin off people like Judith and people like Aaron and stuff. I feel I'd like to see them in the new Daryl show if he returns to the USA after France and I would love to see Rick and Daryl meet up again because they are like brothers

Jesus’s death was placed perfectly, but I’m still mad we didn’t get a relationship between him and Aaron. I haven’t read the comics (I’ve seen recaps of certain issues and I’ve read comic character wiki pages so I know basic differences between the two mediums) but one thing I do know is that Jesus and Aaron got together. I wish they did have evolved walkers since that was the first season. Who else remembers them fast walk/run? To adapt to that a decade later would’ve made all the characters rethink about fighting them. And then the multiple time jumps! Rick is like 65 if he comes back.
