the issue with so many celebrity interview shows is if I don't care who the celebrity is, I don't care about the interview at all, but with Hot Ones, I watch because the show is entertaining, and I can then learn more about these people who are experiencing excruciating pain through the spice
That is exactly how I feel, I've watched so many hot ones where I really didn't know who the celebrity is but I watched anyway to see how they handle the spice.
Exactly. I literally could not have have cared less about a Cara Delevine interview before, especially after some of her films, for instance, but now, after Hot Ones, she's officially one of my favorite people on the planet. Part of that is Cara, but a huge part of it is always Sean, because he's an AMAZING interviewer. :)
Not only is the concept just inherently funny, but if you want to learn more about a celebrity, seeing them run this gauntlet is very revealing. Its not like those interviews that are over a nice dinner at a restaurant, it's their reaction to the pain that is super interesting. (but also extremely funny)
I know this is late, but I think this is what is wrong with all these late night shows. The interviewers just don't give a fuck. They're told what to do by management. They're just trying to hit 3 minutes, get an add in, hit 3 minutes. They think there are enough zombies watching that they just don't care. In a way that's true, but I think that Hot Ones, over the 4 years since this original comment, has forced these people to take a second look. Are late night shows good now? No. Are they getting better with their interviews? Yeah, I guess

It really seems like Sean has some weird fascination with elbows. "Elbow grease", "elbow deep", "elbow room". It's weird how many times he uses elbow inspired figures of speech.
The concept of the show is brilliant! Celebrities of all walks are actors to some extent and no one can BS their way through a good face melting hot wing. Great concept, great execution of said concept.
