      Also, no pearls, opals, emeralds or rubies. If your piece has a lot of pave stones, the ultrasonic cleaner will vibrate them out of their settings.

    Most of the cheaper ones are relitivly safe.
    Mainly due to the strength of the machine. Professional ones are much stronger and even heat the water more.
    As far as the gems comming out, its actually better they fall of in the basket rather then outside. A jewler can simply put it back in ragher then buy a new gem to replace it.
    Also its not ment to be used every time. Most jerlwers reccomend yearly cleaning with an ultra sonic and simple toothbrush other times if it get dirty. A bath in hydrogen peroxide over night and a bit of cleaner in the morning will still make it look great. But the ultra sonic can remove the dirt in hard to reach areas.
    But they are ment for harder meterials such as silver, gold, diamonds and most types of glasses. Porous meterials should just be taken to professional cleaners yearly instead, with the brush cleaning regularly at home.

    Thanks for this. I wanted to get one of these to clean my wedding ring but I have several invisible set diamonds on top. Those are held together with literally nothing but tension. I think I'd be scared this would knock them out.

    • @persephone342
      @persephone342 Před 6 měsíci +1

      It could definitely knock them out. Your best bet is to buy a diamond cleaner and let it soak. If you have a steamer, hit it with some steam. I sold high end Jewelry and Rolex 25 years ago.

    I have opals that i can't use in these as they're white opal with black backing to enhance the colours known as a triplet which is a bit sad as the setting they're in is cheap and has badly tarnished.

    7:51 jewelers call them prongs. People should not clean their house EVER while wearing their rings. Bleach is an obvious prong weakener, but even hand sanitizer. You should take your ring off every time you sanitize your hands or wash with antibacterial soap. Put ring back ok once fully dry. You can have a jeweler check prongs regularly if unsure.

    I’ll save yall 10 minutes.. check your manual to see if the types of jewelry your ultrasonic cleaner can clean.
    You do realize that the ultrasonic cleaners say in their manual ALL the types of jewelry that you shouldn’t put in them, right?
    Some ultrasonic cleaners are more gentle than others by the way :)
