Man it's so great seeing someone react to this one, I wish more reactors would check it out. Fantastic acting, and it's so beautiful and funny and heartbreaking, but it's so off the radar, it should be so much more popular than it is... that scene where all the people in the station start waltzing is one of the most beautiful, magical scenes in movie history IMO ✨️ 😍 ❤️

Glad someone's shedding light on this forgotten masterpiece. Other great ones by Terry Gilliam: Time Bandits, Brazil, 12 Monkeys and Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas.

The Red Knight was him remembering wife's brains being splattered into his face, it made a shape like a Red Knight when if splashed into him. So when he remembers that horrific incident, and it comes to him.. it is in the form of a Red Knight (her brain spatter) chasing him. It is PTSD.
Don't worry not a lot of people get this. When you realise this you really get to understand the brilliance of the movie and the different levels it works on.
Also, the Lydia character is a female version of Edwin who killed his wife (a lonely isolated, lonely messed up person etc) , who he comes to not only forgive but. love.
    This movie is a masterpiece.

I've loved this movie for decades, and have found it a great way to try to make sense of the trauma in my life. I enjoyed watching this with you and was really impressed with your insights. I hadn't really previously recognized that Jack was the type of person that he was warning Edwin about. This film has been a bit of a meditation for me and appreciate seeing others that "get it". The director Terry Gilliam has made several brilliant films, many with Williams in smaller roles. He's currently making a new one with Jeff Bridges and Johhny Depp, where Bridges' plays God so fed up with humanity he wants to destroy it, and Depp plays the devil trying to save humanity. It just sounds so crazy and bizarre, I'm sure it'll be brilliant. I think you ladies may appreciate another Gilliam film called "Brazil" it shares some of the same themes but in very different ways and also blurs dream and reality.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. This doesn't speak well of me, I know... But Jack is the character I related to the most, out of every movie I've ever seen in my life. And nobody could have played Perry other than Robin Williams.
You were talking about Robin Williams in a serious role. He absolutely killed it in Good Will Hunting. If you haven't seen that one yet you absolutely have to. One of the best movies ever made.

GREAT FILM, Being that Gilliam's films are visually dense films with complex characters, they make the dialogue crucial in understanding the narrative. Mercedes Ruehl, Bridge's GF won the academy award

I absolutely love the many Grail Quest connections here, especially the focus on Parsifal and the Fisher King. Most focus on King Arthur at the expense of the Fisher King.
...And that's where my love ends. This movie is a hard watch for the payoff. I wouldn't recommend this movie except for the hardcore Robin Williams fans.
Fun Fact: Two Percheron circus horses, Lightning and Goliath, performed as the Red Knight's mount. One was used for galloping, and the other for rearing.
Bonus Fact: While it isn't mentioned in the film, Parry's name is short for Parsifal, the "pure fool" and legendary knight of the Holy Grail. Parry brings redemption to Jack Lucas just as Parsifal brings redemption to the Fisher King Amfortas. Also, like Parsifal, Parry does battle with a Red Knight who turns out to be an extension of his own psyche. In still another parallel, Parry experiences a cosmic awakening after kissing Lydia, just as Parsifal experiences a cosmic awakening after kissing the beautiful Kundry.
Bonus Fact: The girl that Jack says might be able to help Parry to find the Holy Grail is named Lydia Sinclair. One of the legends about the grail is that it is buried under Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland which was built by the Sinclair clan. The name Sinclair comes back in several grail myths.
