The gunsmith at my local pawn shop( I have known for 20 years) sold me a used but "un-used" DPM recoil spring/guide for my 9mm. 365. He gave gave such a good deal I had to give it a shot.
It transformed the tiny pistol. I am 56yrs. old and I would not endorse this spring/guide if it did not radically reduce recoil.

For much of the 2 1/2 years, I had my P365 I kept wishing it was in 380 given that it really jumped in my old disabled hands. Yesterday I traded the 9mm model for the 380 one. I was so excited when I knew the 380 was out I called my favorite gun store and reserved one with a safety. Yeah, I really prefer the safety. I am exited to be able to get out and shoot as soon as the weather will allow. I've done lots of research on 380 defensive rounds so I'm confident I can defend myself with it. I also have the EZ380 for those times when my hands are really hurting because I still want something I can defend myself with. Larger 9mm are still doable but not the micro 9s.

@@northjerseykevin409 Still enjoying shooting it using Underwood Extreme Defender self-defense loads. Just added the new Ruger ReadyDot but haven't had enough trigger time to see how it works. I alternate carrying the new Equalizer in 9mm and the Sig 365-380. The Sig is so much easier to carry and shoots well. In 380 I prefer a solid copper round like the Underwood, Lehigh, or Ft Scott TUI so I don't have to wonder if the HP opens. I'll use a Federal 70gr non-lead flat nose or other flat-nose FMJ if needed. I have some Underwood 100 gr hard cast flat nose that will certainly penetrate deep enough.

My main warm weather carry for the longest time was a P238, and when Sig offered the P365 in .380 acp I got one as soon as I could and I couldn't be happier.
First, I agree that this is a perfect size pistol for this round. It's actually enjoyable to shoot and I don't dread fighting recoil like I do from a micro-9. I added a Wilson Combat grip module and it feels even better. Second, the mags do get easier to load after a handful of loadings. Great review as always! Thanks for sharing!!

Excellent video. But I still prefer the lighter weight and thinner Glock 42 with the 6+1. I’ll carry two spare magazines, but at least the weight is distributed between two pants pockets (gun in one, spare mags in the other), instead of one pocket for the gun and it’s heavier double stack magazine. For me, the Glock 42 just feels better concealed upon the body. I don’t care about the 6+1 round capacity either, as I prefer the “minimalist’s” carry option and I just train to reload quickly. I’m not chasing down felons, so I just need a “get off me” gun.

With the g42 fully loaded, add another 1.5oz of weight to the gun. With the Sig P365 loaded with a 10+1 magazine, that adds another 2.5oz of weight to the gun. Again, the Glock 42 is a more lighter weight, thinner and comfortable gun while pocket carrying than the Sig 380.

Make a slower, less recoiling, 380 fmj for guns the size of the LCP. The hollow points don't expand with any consistency and end up over penetrating, so why not concede defeat and just go for a round that gives better accuracy with faster follow up shots?

Might I suggest the Wilson Combat grip module with tungsten weights also? I have the XL version of this grip module for my 9mm 365x and it really helps mitigate recoil/ muzzle flip as it adds the weight to the back of the grip. It’s the best $60 (grip module) and ($20) tungsten weights I’ve spent on functional upgrades.

I finally got the chance to shoot the P365-380 alongside its 9mm counterpart yesterday. While the 9mm ran flawlessly, the .380 had several malfunctions (FTFs and FTEs, IIRC) using Ammo Incorporated 100 gr TMC. I also had problems with the .380 Shield EZ with the same ammunition. Is it true that .380 pistols tend to be more ammo-sensitive? If so, what brands/types of ammo should I look for to shoot in these guns for both practice and self-defense loads?

    • @GBGuns

I think you may have a bad lot of ammo. The lore that 380s can be more sensitive might come from many 380s being direct blowback and so more sensitive to limp wristing.
