Amber Heard claims that the outcome of her case is a blow to all women who are victims of domestic violence. Is this accurate? Does she make a fair point? Or is she piggybacking on genuine cases due to her own narcissism?
Do her remarks leave a nasty stain on the bed?

That lady is a full house of cluster b disorders. She is narc, borderline, histrionic, anti-social, and SADISTIC. one of the worst psychopaths that I've ever seen. The only person that is still there for her that continues to take her abuse is her sister. And she is severely abusive to her sister. She used her sister as a punching bag (literally and metaphorically) she was also very abusive to her parents as well. She has shown to have zero empathy for any of her family or close friends. And she seems to enjoy feeling powerful in the way she abused and used everyone who has ever cared about her. She is a psychopath of a severely dangerous level.
      My two cents.

We are all woke to the devious, maliciousness and evil intent of narcissists and are tired of them always getting away with what they do because they are able to lie their way out of their own doing. The Johnny Depp on the stand is the same Johnny Depp in the audio & video recordings, & the same Johnny Depp we've seen in interviews going all the way back to the beginning of his career. He's far from perfect, but he IS consistent!
The Amber on the stand is WILDLY different from the Amber we saw & heard in those recordings, & different from the Amber we see in the media. I suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder, so I understand that we are chameleons who can adapt our whole persona according to the circumstances. But I also understand this sort of behavior does NOTHING but damage where our authenticity is concerned.
She's the frightened victim. She's the raging b**ch. She's the courageous & proud survivor representing all women everywhere (uh, yeah, no thanks, I don't want you representing me). Who IS Amber? No one really knows, coz unlike Mr Consistent, Johnny Depp, Amber is ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!
THAT is what hurt her credibility more than anything. THAT is why the jury didn't believe her. Nevermind the evidence (or lack thereof), The jury, just like the rest of us, could not reconcile the persona that sat before them on the stand with the person they saw & heard in those recordings. Meanwhile, Johnny remained consistent every step of the way. She destroyed her own credibility by not choosing a persona & sticking with it. You can't be that raging b**ch AND that shrinking violet. One of those is a lie. She lies. She pretends to be things that she is not. THAT is why she lost the case, period. She can blame Johnny all she wants, his attorneys, social media, an unfair world...whatever. She did it to herself. No one else is to blame.
And thank you, Dr Das, for pointing out that she lacks many of the core indicators of BPD. The one that stands out the most to me is her lack of shame & guilt over her behavior. It's almost a necessary part of the cycle that feeds into our ever-changing self image, that switch from knowing we are right to where our self-esteem bottoms out. Yeah, that happens because we feel shame & guilt about our behavior. Without that to knock us down again, we'd just tear an unrelenting path of destruction through the world! The unstable moods, yeah. The chaotic relationships, you bet! The intense fear of abandonment, yup. The co-morbid risky behavior like substance abuse, uh huh. The black & white thinking/splitting, plain as day. But no shame or guilt. I don't really see any self harm or suicidal gesturing either. And she hasn't come out with a story of abuse or neglect as a child. We don't get this way by happenstance! I'm not saying she doesn't suffer from BPD. She certainly has many BPD traits, but overall, I see her aligned better with Histrionic Personality Disorder. You know, it's in the same "dramatic" cluster, & there are some similarities, but that need to be the center of attention, & desire for male validation, bringing Elon Musk & James Franco into that penthouse that belonged to her husband, before the divorce papers were even filed! I can TOTALLY see the HPD running deep in her.
I think mostly I just don't want people to think that I share the same personality disorder with Amber Heard since MY BPD manifests itself quite differently than hers. I read somewhere that there are 256 ways to be Borderline. I believe it. There are 9 characteristics used to diagnose BPD, of which you need only display 5 for a diagnosis. The symptoms you DO have vs the ones that you don't, & the severity of each symptom, in what order they disrupt your life the most, makes for a wide variety of combinations & overall manifestions. Just like NPD, many people who suffer from BPD do extremely well in their careers (while others can't hold down a job) because they are able to utilize their ability to manipulate to climb that corporate ladder. We can be quite different. That's all.
Great upload. Great analysis. You are my go-to CZcams psychiatrist! Keep doing what you're doing! ✌🏼

Really? I never knew the Depp who texts his (also accused of dv) friends about hoping to find Amber's rotting corpse in a car, or fucking her corpse, existed. In fact I didn't mind Depp at all until what I saw of him in the private videos, the texts, and the way he presented in court. The man I saw there is very much like the man who abused me. How ready people are to excuse his behaviour speaks volumes about how we have not come very far at all on this issue. You don't have to not have a personality disorder to be a victim, nor even be a likable person. Nor do you have to always be honest. I have no doubt my former partner could convince you all either. You would like him, he's a very likable guy. Depp promised global humiliation of Amber, and got it.

      @hazelangus Před 2 lety +4

I love your insight here. I have multiple female friends with BPD and Amber is radically different. None of them is this bad, even at their worst. The worst-affected friend I've had wasn't this bad, and I needed to combine the traits of somebody else I knew, who I believe is a malignant narcissist, in order to get anywhere close to what we've seen from Amber.
So many of the borderline traits cross over with other Cluster B disorders. Fear of abandonment might be the only one Amber seems to have that is purely BPD-specific.

Is it possible that her repeated assertions that she is a representative of women is an indicator of grandiose thinking? ( I mean, she is no more a representative of me that a crocodile is a representative of leather shoes). Or is it a manipulative technique to save her ego where she can be seen as a martyr character who lost but for something bigger than herself. Either way, I guess both concepts are steeped in the kind of over inflated sense of self and entitlement.

    • @Potato_Bug
      @Potato_Bug Před 2 lety +2

This isn’t the first time AH declared herself the representative, spokesperson or advocate- even aside from the case, and aside from her op-Ed claims as a spokesperson and advocate for DV and SA, she has claimed this authority/position for other non-profits and even in defense of The Playboy Club, a TV show that when heavily criticized AH who had a supporting role in the show as a bunny said in interviews that she felt like an “unintentional spokesperson” for the show when defending it to the media.
As a survivor of IPV/DV and SA, her assertion of being a “public figure representing victims” has always felt grandiose and disingenuous… it also created a feeling of distrust of her for me, because as a survivor, I felt my voice was silenced and mocked for so long that speaking for other survivors without their request like AH has done would be perpetrating the abusive denial of their voice and autonomy. I guess I just see it as a situation where you can’t claim to be a representative for a community if all you are doing is using your voice to tell your own story and not for change or to uplift others who are within the community also.

Heard is fascinating. She's clearly intelligent so I find it hard to believe that she thinks there is nothing wrong with her. Her father is aggressive and nasty and when Depp turned the cash machine off to Amber, her father threatened to shoot Depp!! Camille Vasquez pointed out to everyone including Amber that while Depp had a plethora of support from all sorts of people, she had only her sister. She must at least suspect that she has a disorder, surely. What I find absolutely fascinating is when people do bad things, whether it's murder or making up lies to destroy your spouse's career after he turns the cash machine off, they then decide to slip into the role of victim. I had the pleasure of seeing Ross Kemp give a speech and he's seen everything! He was once tasked with interviewing a man in India who had raped and murdered around 200 women (he lost count!!). Kemp said he didn't want to go anywhere near this creature but was eventually persuaded to carry out the interview. He said when he entered the room, the man immediately burst into tears and claimed it wasn't his fault!!! Kemp left the room without speaking. What is this victim business about? Why do people who do bad things slip into the role of victim ONLY when they get caught out??

I think in a lot cases the PD kind of overwhelms intelligence. There are some very very smart people who believe ridiculous things, or behave in ridiculous, illogical ways.
It would be interesting for Dr Das to talk about this. Does Amber at this point know she’s lying? Has she told her far-fetched stories so many times she thinks they’re true?
Or has she with BPD experienced certain interactions with Depp as so dreadfull & painful that it doesn’t matter to her whether it’s true or not? Or it’s all conflated in her mind? (meaning Johnny caused her great trauma and it’s immaterial whether it was from rejection or SA?).

So does she! She doesn’t believe her own lies, as her stories keep changing. If she did believe her lies were not lying, and were in fact the truth, I’d think she’d keep the same story for all of her testimonies over the years. That does not mean she isn't a narcissist. All that means is that her behavior fit into the criteria of BPD better than NPD according to the DSM. Heard has a pathlogical need for CONTROL which is a dead give away of a narcissist. Her behavior has been consistently manipulative and fake. Her innocent victim facade was fake as hell; just like a narcissist trying to hoover the victim by expressing false contrition or undying love. It is all done as a gaslighting technique. That is one of the way narcissists assert control is by manipulating the perceptions of others to preserve the facade. Realistically, she is likely both a borderline and a narcissist. She has patterns of both.

Freedom of Speech says the government can't prevent you from speaking without a compelling reason with a high bar to overcome, BUT does not make you free of legal and social consequences.
In Amber Heard's situation, her defamation AND her apparently repeating may give Johnny Depp cause to ask the government for an order prohibiting Heard from saying certain things. Moreover, losing one suit does not immunize Heard from future suits. The same applies to Depp.

Let's make clear and distinguish how men may purpotrate more physical abuse, but this is potentially 50/50 men and women purpotrate psychological abuse, which is not better or worse, and it gets overlooked when men go through it, that's what this whole case represents for many people, and myself.

If you limit it to domestic situations, then women are responsible for FAR more abuse against men than vice versa. Women are responsible for FAR more child abuse, too. Most men stay their hands. They've grown up wrestling with each other, playing sports, using sticks as swords on each other, and so on. As they grow, they see their strength grow, and they see how girls cannot keep up. Most men know that they can easily kill a woman or child, and so they stay their hands. Women don't stop.

No one knows how much violence women perpetrate against men. There's a high chance there are more incidents than male against female violence. Much of it is less severe but extreme violence from stabbings and thrown objects should not be underestimated

I do think it's a field that's becoming more of a hard science so I do think younger professionals are a bit better then older.

She said that it is a satback for women to have freedom of speech etc. But what she doesn't say is that it would be her fault that women are seen as liars and overreacting freaks. She showed the whole world that women can be mean when they don't get their way. At least, that is what the majority sees.
So every step back since this lawsuit is her own stupid fault. I know she knows it is her fault. But admitting she made a mistake is too painful for her. She just cannot do it. She keeps lying to protect her own feelings. She kind of believes it too. She feels the truth in the lie, if that makes sense. And that part is what she is holding on to. So she gets angry if people call her a liar. She is a liar, definitely. Her content is just not the truth. But the truth for her is the feeling in the lie.
    Complicated to explain.

Actually, I think that you accidentally got it RIGHT. I think that she exhibits the behaviors of classic Narcissistic Personality Disorder. But then there is a consensus among many psychiatrists that BPD (unless confused with another disorder) is really just NPD for women, or as some have called it, NPD-Lite. I think that the classification of BPD arose at a time when it may have been deemed too severe to classify women with such a severe diagnosis, and the gender differences probably result in some different nuances in how that diagnosis is displayed. I think that not accounting for these subtleties is the real failure in recognizing that women are just as likely as men to have NPD. The evidence lies in the fact that a much higher percentage of women are diagnosed with BPD, and that should alarm everyone in the field, because statistically, there should be the same percentage of men and women with NPD, and there should NOT be a much higher percentage of women with BPD. Something is wrong with the model.

Sorry to correct you dude but I believe she was diagnosed with “Histrionic Personality Disorder”. Not “Narcissistic Personality Disorder”.
I’m not an expert on an HPD, but after looking at the symptom criteria for it, it does share some similarities to NPD.
And based on my unprofessional opinion, I think she really does have traits from NPD.
Funny enough, I was surprised that there is a lot of disagreement among medical professionals surrounding this disorder as some believe that it’s just another manifestation BPD and that it should be removed from DSM-5 because of it.

Freedom of speech doesn’t allow lying and destroying another person’s life and career. The thing that spoke volumes about NPD was the time she told about the plane incident. She was upset about “embarrassment” not the abuse. Everything she would say was related to humility, embarrassment, etc and not about true impact of abuse. As an abuse survivor I knew she was lying pretty quickly. But I also felt very connected to him on the stand recalling his childhood experiences because I had an abusive parent. If Amber wants to experience true ptsd I’ll gladly send her my dad for a few years.

You’re sort of correct about the 1st Amendment but in the words of Dr Curry, “That’s not quite…correct”.
None of our Constitutional rights is absolute. But for 1A especially, our courts and legislatures have only allowed some narrow exceptions. We want people to have the greatest latitude for speaking their minds without government regulation or interference. (Sorry that was soap-boxy).
You’re even free to lie, for the most part.
But we draw the line when you lie and your lies cause damage to the reputation or economic well-being of another. That’s defamation.
There is one more protection for freedom of speech and freedom of the press (which also falls under 1A) related to defamation. This is from a landmark Supreme Court case, NYT vs Sullivan.
If the person bringing the defamation claim is a public figure, then they must prove the false statement was made with ‘actual malice’.
Confusingly, ‘actual malice’ doesn’t actually mean ‘malice’. The plaintiff doesn’t have to show the falsehoods were because of evil intent. It just means you have to show the person made the statements knowing they were false, or with ‘reckless disregard’ for the truth. (here ‘reckless disregard’ actually means reckless disregard, lol).
All in all it’s a very high standard for proving defamation. That’s why prior to the start of trial most legal commentators thought Johnny had barely a snowball’s chance in hell. By the end of trial though - after seeing and hearing the evidence -those same commentators were putting his odds well over 50/50.

MANY people will admit to being bipolar, because being bipolar is (fallaciously) connected with high intelligence, emotional sensitivity, and creativity. Look how many people try to claim that this or that famous or artistic dead person "almost certainly was bipolar."
No one wants to be borderline. That's a syndrome that's all about being a horrible manipulative nuisance to other people 24/7. It's about outbursts of rage, suicide threats, chaotic behavior. That's not at all about being intelligent and creative.
