That's a beautifully honest story - and with a lot of profound common sense in it. It made me happy to hear Calum is being himself and is better for it. That's the whole thing about Pride - you don't just take pride in yourself, you also get to smile as you take pride in someone else.

I was today years old when I found out he’s gay, so I would like to personally thank the academy for the honor, to my parents for creating me in the same generation but most of all thank god for blessing us with such handsome and talented man. 🙌🏼
It was pretty obvious if you actually listened to his audition song, ngl. Watching you kiss "her", so either he's crushing on a lesbian or he's crushing on a straight guy. Or a bi, I suppose, but only Demi Lovato sings about those. Perhaps you assumed he was singing lyrics written for a straight woman, but then he says "I'm not the _guy_ you're taking home." So again, very obvious if you were actually listening.
I wanted to marry this guy ever since I saw him on America got talent, I never knew he was gay .

Well it looks like he doesn’t struggle with money or housing !! So Honestly he is much better off than a lot of lgbtq housing right now. I’ve been “publically gay” for a decade and I really struggle with just affording a place to live. (I came out as soon as I turned 18- everyone already knew but it was public at that point) I apply to new jobs everyday too - it’s really hard. I hope he understands the privilege and support that he has ❤️like the shit I have to do for money just to afford the cheapest housing in the area .. it’s rediculous
Sorry that you are struggling - but not sure why you're trying to put the guilt on Calum Scott! Everyone has their own story and struggles, and he is no different. Try coming out 50 years ago, when no one was allowed to be GAY - you had to hide it from everyone, get married to someone you were never in love with, raise a family, all just to satisfy the parents/family, the Bishop/Pastor, and your co-workers! People shunned you if you came out, and you were turned down for jobs, if they thought you, were a Queer! You think you have it hard now.......its a cake walk, from what it used to be for those of us who grew up in the 50's and 60's!

We completely understand what you are going through, however, employers only want employees these days who are excellent at their jobs. It doesn't matter what your sexuality is. Good honest hard workers that show up on time and perform as you would like them to perform if you were the employer should not be punished. If you remember why you were hired and are not embarrassing to the business you will never have trouble getting a job. Remember people don't hire you one way or the other. All they want are employees that are so good they would never fire them for being gay. Good luck to you bro.

Colum, I will never forget the night you got up on EGT and sang dancing on my own and stunned the audience. However, you got one of the biggest standing ovations ever. Oh, how times have changed. There are more and more and more guys and gals now performing who are known to be gay and somehow, almost all of them are mega exceptional at what they do. I think they sing and those who write lyrics write lyrics from a deep deep place in their heart. "No Matter What" I pray has opened the minds and softened the hearts of parents of many Parents of gay children. For generations, parents have thrown their children to the wolfs because having a gay child embarrassed "them". They are under the stupid assumption that other stupid people will blame them for their child being Gay through bad parenting. Whatever happened to unconditional love? Then you came out with You Are The Reason It blew my mind !! What a beautiful piece of work. You sang it and looked so HOT singing it. Best of everything to you and your beautiful family.

Being honest with yourself about your feelings is paramount if you have real friends they'll not worry about your sexual orientation your still that same friend they had before it's shouldn't be a gay persons problem it the straight persons problem why lose a great friend if you find out there gay it's crazy but hey our world is
I agree! I love people who they are, inside out! I’m straight, but my kids, and grand son are questioning things. I grew up where they didn’t talk about it. When my son was just a baby, people thought my kid would get aids in the water. His God father is gay, but that did not matter to me! I hate to say this but I have always been attracted to gay guys, it is because they are truthful. Plus they groom better, some guys are so messy. Anyways I am just realizing this today at age 60. Life changes you too, and there are always different stages even in love!
The Power of Music is such a Powerful tool to express what you're feeling or going thru. We all can relate to a song in different ways. Calum's songs tell a story of what he went thru and we can really feel it as if we were going thru, it with him. Myself coming out in the late 80s, early 90s was a lot more scarier and not knowing what to expect or knowing what it was to be gay at the time. No as days it's somewhat more easier to come out since we have some many gay icons around and the support of other famous people and the most important ones are our family and close friends who understand and love us "No Matter What".

thats so bad you were abandoned by your mates. i told my mates at 16 and they only ever supported me, but i guess i was lucky. my brother was known as a lad that you dont mess with, i think that helped me to be honest to not get bullied. think they realised wait there you can come from a very macho footballer family and for some reason, me the middle son, was gay and not afraid to say.

Thank you for telling your own story to help those still suffering from society being not of love but, of judgment! I believe in loving the neighbor as thyself no matter what. Along with judge not lest ye be judge. It is no human being's business to place judgment on others because it tells me they are judging themselves for something! Plain and simple! Love is love!

I went through so much religious trauma ever since I seventeen years ago and I am still struggling but I so badly want to be myself and am struggling. As a mom of 3 queer kids, your "No Metter What" song hits me hard every time. My husband and I have always been very open, loving and accepting of whoever they are. I made a definite point about that when my husband and I met because I saw the hell & trauma my aunt went through as a lesbian in our (then) devout Catholic family. I NEVER wanted ANYONE to go through what I witnessed her go through since I was a young child. My now husband was of the exact same mindset from the start. It may seem weird to some but literally when our 1st was born we just knew. Even with all the openness, support & love he was still scared to officially "come out" to us....that broke our hearts. He tells is it really wasn't us who were at the heart of his fears....it was society, but that fear was there nonetheless. Us Moms & Dads can love & accept the living sh¡t out of our kids - and that DOES make a BIG difference - BUT society as a whole NEEDS to get with the love & acceptance as well. It's FAR past time..... regardless of who your own kid is....just fu©kin' love & accept people for who they are!!! Why is this so hard for far too many in this day & age???
