    Shards of Alara was released in 2008, which was, wait, 15 years ago? The time gap between Alpha and Alara is like a week longer than the time gap between Alara and now. Wowzers.

      Invasion Odyssey Onslaught was a golden era.
      So was Zendikar Scars Innistrad.
      War of the Spark Throne of Eldraine Theros Beyond was good but brief. Killed by Covid and other things.
      Lord of the Rings Doctor Who is good too.

    The only thing I ever care to remember about Jund is a funny post someone made about the concept of "Magic as Garfield intended." I can't remember how it exactly went, but it basically was;
    "People always talk about 'Magic as Richard Garfield intended' when talking about Jund when in reality it means shit like Four Horsemen."
    It may also have been referring to "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)", but IDK.

      The amount of value that card draw ability generates when you build around it is insane. It ends up being "draw cards and get bigger for doing what your deck wants to do." I've gotten turns where I've drawn a full hand before while using a Mayhem Devil and sac outlet to ping down important creatures and planeswalkers.

    I like Mardu the most, but they are consistently one of the lowest power trios.
    I'm also curious how Scam has affected your lists. I've been hearing so much on how bad it is for the game, but most I hear from play modern, the biggest affected. But you are about limited and solely imperical data. Has it altered your lists in ways you were surprised about?

    • @rickymoen9482

      Whats scam?

    • @ryanpeters3812
      @ryanpeters3812 Před 8 měsíci

      @@rickymoen9482 Using evoke and a card that returns a creature who does this turn. Since you can evoke certain things for basically free, you can do this turn 1 and double the evoke effect, namely of Fury and Grief. This sets you far ahead, all because you scammed the card effect and kept the monster. This works with any evoke card, and combining with Orcish Bowmasters and One Ring, most decks can't compete with sideboard, leaving you one up.
      This also makes any x/1 useless (except Ragavan, as he bounces back to hand), crippling creature decks and restricting the metagame. This can skew cards, like ignoble hierarch, which would otherwise be played.

    @HeyApples Před 8 měsíci +9

    The best 3 color combination can't have glaring weaknesses. Grixis notoriously has problems with enchantments. Jund has precious little stack interaction. I would prefer one of the blue-white core shards like Esper or Bant over Jund for all around versatility.

    • @kronozord8346
      @kronozord8346 Před 8 měsíci +3

      Esper is the best because it can remove almost everything from the board and from the stack. Its only limitations are lands but there are other ways to deal with those permanents.

    And the worst part is theres nothing I can do about it. Their comment will always be the first one, even if Im actively avoiding opening up the comments. And just seeing this persons profile picture triggers this irrational disdain for this person. The worst part isnt even the joke itself, its that the only way I can prevent myself from seeing them is to stop watching you, because I have no way to block or hide them.
