Ali T. Kokmen moderates the RULERS OF THE REALM panel at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con! Featuring authors Joe Abercrombie, Lev Grossman, Diana Gabaldon, George R. R. Martin, and Patrick Rothfuss
16:48 Pat: "[...] and then 14 years later you eventually finish your map". GRRM nods in agreement :). And all this because of course Pat just got sidetracked by an aquifer. Makes sense to me. I started a novel 5 years ago. I'm 65% in. I hate to even open up the word file now.
@@Indeterminite i feel i outgrew it, particularly the characters and their trajectories/struggles etc. I do not "feel" them as i used to, i.e. ability to immerse myself completely in their fictitious lives and just go where the flow takes me. I could, of course, make it a very precise exercise of drawing a schematic on what they should do next to advance the plot but for me characters being "alive" and doing things to respond to internal and external stimuli is a big part of why I write.
I believe I've seen this before but from another angle. What a joy it is to be at the front row seat. I think I'm on the camera mans lap and watching this to be quite frank. Ah, what a wonderful day it is. If I ever go to one of these and I'm one of the people on the panel, you best believe I'm going to drink everyone's water jug. I should add, but man do I not like these other people other than GRRM. They annoy me so! They all think they're comedians. So very much so. Oh the sorrow! Que the rain!!!! (Pulls fire alarm) I must go!
I don't like these types of panels because the writers are just trying to one up each other with "funny" remarks. They're just trying to be entertaining for the audience.
Joe Abercrombie is incredibly hilarious.
Can someone please tell Abercrombie that he's way too jacked and handsome to also be this good of a fucking novelist lol
Abercrombie is GOAT of writing characters.

Why does pat Roth sit so far away?

Why do you hate to open the word file? Are you sick of writing the book now?

Is it me or does Mr Abercrombie look buff
He does, he lifts weights
17:10 now we understand
Now I realize that Pat Rothfuss is a really eazzy guy, under that 🐚 shell of obnoxiousness is just a sincerely misunderstood rationalist 🧐🤔🤯👌💯
Really? I can only see the obnoxious guy.
Abercrombie is the boss

Anyone get the impression that George doesn't like Pat stealing the spotlight?

Only one here can write an epic. I think we all know who that is.
All of them?

Audience do not want to be entertained, they want to be lectured at. You're absolutely right.
3:13 this is why we hate Patrick Rothfuss
Yeah if I was the other guy, I'd be like: wtf?
Of the 5,000 views I’m at least 1k
abercrombie blows george martin out the water with charchterization.
That's pretty bold.
mel on fairly true tho
Abercrombie isn’t even worthy of George Martins dick
Very bold statement cannot agree or disagree. I will be sure to double to tell you what I think when I read Abercrombie
