Try Charles Stross’s Laundry series, advanced computational methods are gateways to horror Lovecraft never came close to, for example the concept of creating self-aware simulations of minds that can be killed or tortured forever. Oh, and lots of bureaucratic stuff as well.

Despite the 2D personality and cheesiness of him, for some reason Blackwood is one of my favorite movie villains. The dude is such a perfect caricature of Lovecraftian and Poe gothic horror villains that it is almost a love letter to fans of those sub-genres. So well played, too.

You can also see a strong inspiration on real life occultist Julius Evola on the character (the hairdo, wealthy attire, dark complexion under British standards; the interest in politics and eliticism, the skill with words, the fact that both Blackwood and Evola are noblemen)

Blackwood reading from Revelation in the beginning is the perfect touch. It's almost as if he's implying that he is the Antichrist, who will gain great authority from the devil (the dragon).
BTW...the part of the passage Blackwood leaves OUT is equally significant. "And I saw that one of the heads of the beast seemed wounded beyond recovery--but that fatal wound was healed."
It's like he didn't want to give EVERYTHING away to Holmes...but the clue is still there.

I thought that Mark Strong might have made the voice actor for the Sherlock games (The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, and, Crimes and Punishments), because sometimes they make the character look exactly as the VO.
Apparently a certain Charles Swift did his voice but there aren't much to find on that man. (Now don't tell me these two men don't sound alike, many VO are fully capable of changing their voice depending on the characters......they wouldn't be great VO if they couldn't.)
It's intense though how much Strong looks alike Sherlock in the game, stunning really, giving that he is usually seen having the exact same haircut as well. He should have played Mr Holmes....I don't even want to watch this movie because of Jr something, never liked the guy....hate me for it.
