OUR STORY:
John and Kristina purchased a 50ft Jeanneau Sun Odyssey with just a few weeks sailing experience. They set sail from Melbourne and travelled up the East Coast of Australia to the Great Barrier Reef, and have since sailed in Greece, The Bahamas and now, the Western Med!

Here's an old mechanic's trick to help keep windows clear if you have a potato or starch source on board. Clean thoroughly as you did. Mix your starch a cup's worth to a liter should do. Or take a potato and cut it in half. Coat the windscreen with the solution. Or rub the potato over it. You might have to thinly slice the potato to keep the face fresh. The starch will make any water sheet off the surface clearly instead of accumulating in droplets which are hard to see through. This works on cars to if your windshield wipers are broken. Fair sailing.

Very true! Thanks so much Sean. Yes, we were super lucky they let us stay, we moved a few times but I think in the end they felt sorry for us because we literally had no where to go! And by the time we got settled it was well after midnight, so we were only there for a few hours in the end before we headed off. Thanks, and looking forward to sharing the next episode with you S! 🙂

Sailing LaVagabond are calling them Special Documentary’s including Darwin informing 50 odd thousand viewers he needs to poo. So indeed bang it out including the shouts.😊

Just found you guys, now watching from the start and happens I’m moving to Melbourne. My wife and I are looking to start learning to sail so once kids are big enough we can basically do the exact same trip. How much experience did John have to start with? We are completely new to sailing, but I know boats 😜

We were able to head to Bonifacio in Corsica which was an absolute highlight!!! We’ll have to return and do it again sometime when we have another boat and some better weather 🤗🥰
