The nba 2k league just ended and 100+ nba 2k league players and staff just lost jobs. Insane time for the nba 2k league. The nba 2k league is officially over
All I can say is that this is an incredible shame to the players, teams, coaches, personalities, and such who made the NBA2K League we know. Well... all I can say is that I have been proud of being part of this community and in meeting people ranging from players to their parents. I am thankful to meet so many people during streams of this league. X/Twitter Spaces and Twitch streams I've seen basically were saying not much money was made in all of this. As if to say all the community and respect we've shown all means nothing if it isn't generating revenue. I am not exactly sad or angry or anything, I'm just rather speechless and can not give concrete feelings on this whole situation.
All teams run the same EXACT offense! (5 out) & yes that is and always has been boring as hell to watch. I always felt this league was poorly put together because of that & other missteps
They limit builds and exploit the poorly developed mechanics instead of playing basketball. Of course it’s not fun to watch. We tryna watch ppl play ball, not play 2K.
They need to have better builds this limited builds shit ass let people make what they want be whatever size they want at whatever position & see who's the best frfr like in real life no one tells the NBA what lineup they have to run its whoever wins wins then sets the meta in the 2k community the meta is completely forced
Can’t have people caring about a prize pool for a game they didn’t have a chance to participate in. 2k league wasn’t full of the best players. It was basically a glorified privileged pro am scene
They should of never started 2KL imo. More Live tournaments with random squads that players themselves created like RTTFs from 2k16 & 2k17 just with 3 more like tourneys. Tip off tourney in late September another during late November or early December, another during all star weekend and then the one right before the finals. Prize pool increases for each one like how madden does it.
CEO must have a Leverage Buyout (LBO) background. Brother man came in, cut 50% of the workforce, new management, new products. That’s what we call cut throat private equity baby. Hope everyone that was affected lands on their feet and pushes through. Looks like the 2KL ain’t resistant to macroeconomic factors.
I’ve been playing 2k for a while now, I’ve heard of the 2k league, but never knew what it was, and I still am not quite sure what it is or how it works. If someone has been playing 2k for as long as me and doesn’t understand or know what the 2k league is, that is just bad marketing, really really bad marketing, imo, no wonder it failed.
if you claim to have played "2k for a while" you should know it started in about 2018. and its essentially like the NBA but in game form. every nba team has a league team. they have drafts to pick who they want then they have a season

They made the right decision. The league gets no views. The teams are stacked with players, coaches , nice facilities to game, traveling, room & board that sh*t ain’t cheap
I think another reason people don’t like “comp” players is because it doesn’t feel accessible in a sense that for example if i’m really good in Warzone i can at least hit top 250 in ranked and it mean something vs comp & 2k league players shit on ranked pro am (rightfully so) because it means nothing, and you can’t even get a chance to play these players you see because there’s no incentive on their side

I used to follow their stuff on Twitter (and some of the 2kL guys) and once I realized those affiliated with the league had the professionalism of a scammer and the business-sense of a dope boy. It was incredibly lame. Not my thing at all and not appealing to folks outside of that bubble.
