13:00 In the storage closet put the camera at the REAR on the clear wall side. This will give it a view of the door and the stuff, and if someone tried to remove or cover it they have to cross the entire closet to get to it.

I’ve moved a lot in the last 10 years and I don’t envy anyone that has to move. It can be a MASSIVE pain! Congrats on the house!
Have you had a home inspector come out and do a REAL, thorough inspection? If not do it NOW while the builder is still "finishing it, as you put it". For the server closet just buy a set of white louvered doors and swap them with the existing ones.
I love when people who work their asses off have nice things. Your Security cam footage of the driveway is High Key bad ass.
phillips hue or some other rgb smart bulbs might be the way to go for the over head lighting, that way you can change them at will to any colour, warm/cool light etc
Just remember to isolate a vlan / SSID specifically for IoT :) (and guests)
I know it’s a new house but be careful. Continuously running exhaust fans are a major cause of house fires when they get filled with dust, just something to keep an eye on and clean every once in awhile!
congrats on the new house!! don't forget if you have an ONT on the outside of your house (where the fiber Internet comes in) that it requires power. your modem/router may have UPS power, but if the ONT goes dark, you're out of Internet. I learned that first hand. I have an extra UPS in the garage for it now.
In my country the ONT is inside the house 99% of the time.
That "full" closet could easily fit 50-100% items with shelves that go all the way to the walls and adding another shelf up top, and putting one over the door.

Getting your setup working is the most important thing. You can always reconfigure later.
Yup moving is a joy you do not want to repeat too often. I downsized a couple of years ago after 20+ years in a house. You may want to try blocking that location of the camera on tripod so it will allow easy placement of the camera should it need to be moved. Usually on non carpet floors tape is used.. Regarding placement of the camera in the parts closet. Having the camera in the upper corner where you indicated may not allow a full face on capture of the person(s). A camera aimed at the door may be able to get a full face picture before the person realizes the camera is there.
At first, I thought "Oh, Greg has a treadmill in his office!"
Then camera showed it again. It is a racing simulation setup lol.
I believe the WD Purple drives are Helium filled, which is why they feel lighter than normal. Helium is lower density than air so it allows the internals to operate more efficiently and last longer.
Hi Greg. Very nice computer room. My PC Gamer room is 10'x21'. Over the past 20 years I've made numerous changes to the placement of desk and furniture. My desks, three 48" and one 72", are placed with their ends facing the walls. This allows me easy access to both front and rear of the desks which allows me to work on the rear of my PC components. I've placed lockable wheels on all of my desks, furnature, and tables. This makes changing my room arangement a breeze. I have a total of ten outlets, three on the long walls and two on the shorter walls. Regardless of how I rearange my desks I have wall outlets available. Beside the 15 amp wall outlets, I've added a 20 amp outlet on each wall with a dedicated power line. Three 4' wide storage units, with 4 shelves each, handle my storage needs. Other items I've added are a large room air cleaner, a window AC, a recliner chair, and a space heater. Did i forget the 60" ceiling mounted TV?

This is the fun part of moving day: the putting things back together again. The actual moving of furniture and boxes full of stuff is what's the worst.

Why not use some "lightsaber" light for some RGB lighting when filiming? Or just small lights to accentuate?
I think changing some ceiling lights to other colors might kilss its purpose.
They may have RGBW led bulbs that will fit the base in those ceiling lights. I have a track light above my work desk with a pair of them, they work remarkably well for what they were. Space looks really good!

Greg, why not get some gaffer's tape or painter's for the tripod location? Simply tape around it on the carpet, and that way you can move it out of the way when not filming. Same for your table in there. It might be a little unsightly to some, but would help you retain continuity without worrying about not moving the tripod or table.
I've really enjoying following along with your move in particular your network rack as i've been working on a home network rack myself.

Get some louvered doors for the server closet. They look better then cutting the existing door, and they'll let a lot of fresh air in

Nice security set up, mine is much smaller with only 2 full H.D. Cameras and still gives 30 days storage in my NVR, which is also connected to a UPS.

Its great to see the progress with your new place and office. One potential option for your server closet for fresh air is to cut out the bottom panel and put some mesh (insect screen / fiberglass/metal etc..) to allow for ventilation and to look good at the same time.

Hopefully you know that you can setup the NVR to only record when the camera sees motion. Saves time on hard drives and allows finding a incident quickly

instead of cutting the door as described @6:00, have you considered just shortening both the doors by about an inch on the bottom? This would server the purpose of bringing in cooler air and also not look too "modded". Just some food for thought. Congrats on the move and kudos to you and your wife on the new house. Having built our own home as well (and in the process of finishing the basement currently), it is not a simple task (making selections for EVERYTHING, etc. ). Keep up the great work!

a tip for more easily getting things level on your wall: line the level up on the wall with painters tape and mark where your mounting holes will be, then pre-drill holes, remove the tape, and install your mounting hardware
you should get some Solar panels to maybe run some stuff in the house. and make a video about it

Looking great so far, congrats on the move. Don't put coloured spots up tho, get some smart light bulbs (not Philips) so you can change colour to whatever when you need to, and dim if you want as well
As a SysAdmin who deals with large data closets on the reg, this is actually a very nice home setup. Every I.T. pros dream haha. Ubiquiti is a nice brand for personal home use. Really clean setup 👍
