A morning, a ruin and a Triumph Bonneville T120.

  • Riding the Triumph Bonneville T120 to a sunrise breakfast at the ruins of an ancient manor house.
    Stepping out from my front door at 4.00am, I found my trusty Triumph Bonneville T120 patiently waiting for our ride down through the Peak District to Throwley Old Hall. I had wanted to get there in time for sunrise, but an unanticipated patch of very thick (and cold) fog slowed us down just enough to miss the dawn breaking at the Old Hall by about 20 minutes.
    But it didn't matter, I still enjoyed a cup of hot tea in the ruins of the sixteenth century manor house. What remains at the site is the crumbing walls of the east wing, once a large hall it hosted prestigious families for hundreds of years before its last occupants left. It's beautiful spot, surrounded by lush farmland and stunning views, I'd say it was easily the most peaceful cup of tea I've had in a long time.
    Riding through this part of the Peak District is a real delight for those interested in history, the roads are narrow and twisty and intersected by ancient villages, each full of buildings that haven't changed that much in centuries. It's a really great place to spend a day exploring on a motorcycle.

      @@ClassicRides I'm sure it is tricky! The Classic Motorcycle channel had the new BSA Gold Star's first start-up at Goodwood and the camera mic they used made it sound broken, all the bass was missing. They had another version of the audio and were able to redo it. At least your engine note sounded like it should!

    • @ClassicRides
      @ClassicRides  Před 2 lety +1

      @@gerryjamesedwards1227 yeah I saw that, it really didn’t sound good at all. My problem is wind noise over 30mph, it just wipes out the engine noise. And there’s also an editing issue because of the way I do my videos, it becomes very complicated to get the right audio matched with the right clip. I’m always trying different ways to do it, one day I’ll work something out!

      I’ve not had any problems, yet. I put the yellow plate on initially to do a Bikesafe day, then I left it on to do the NC500 as it’d have annoyed me to get the trip ruined by getting stopped for it. Now I’m just zipping around my local areas the b&w is back on, it just looks so much nicer.
