  • Just another version of a 7-segment mechanical display, 3D printed. This particular model is a sequential counter (0 - 9) that receives a linear input to cycle the display. The linear input is converted to a rotational motion before passing through a dual-spring ratcheting mechanism that serves two purposes:
    1. Allow the return of the input plunger to the upper position without reversing the cam stack rotation
    2. Transfer the input rotation (on the down stroke) to the two cam stacks (meshed together in a 1:1 ratio).
    All mechanical components fit in a low-profile housing. The total required depth of the case is only 14mm. In addition, all components are 3D printed except for screws and rubber bands.
    Other configurations include:
    - Digits with varying number ranges
    - Multiple digits printed as one piece
    - Various cam and follower designs
    - Optional stepper motor input (28BYJ, NEMA 17, etc.).

    My son loves your videos! Is there one where you go over the white player 1 & 2 counter? He keeps talking about it and I can't find it!

      Hey! Glad to hear your son enjoys the video. At the moment I don't have a video that's specifically dedicated to the player 1 & 2 scoreboard. However, I plan to make a new video that will include a detailed look at the scoreboard in addition to the other displays seen in the thumbnail.

      I don't have any plans too at the moment. The designs aren't completely final yet. I still have some improvements I want to implement.

      @@Flower-3D It's commonplace to add the top segment to the 6, the top left to the 7, and the bottom to the 9. Also, I see you have a 12 hour clock design, but this begs the question: why not 24 hour as well?

    • @Flower-3D
      @Flower-3D  Před rokem +3

      No particular reason I haven't assembled a 24-hour clock yet. I guess I just haven't gotten around to it. I've been mostly working on improvements to the various components. When I do make it, I'll probably print it as a single unit instead of separate digit assemblies.

    I've been trying to figure out the 2p counter thing over the last few days adapting a different design. yours is amazing. I know someone asked last year, but any chance the files could be shared? I have a use for them i'd really like to give a try

      Hey! thanks for watching and commenting on the video. I'm currently working on finalizing a revision to the 7-seg digit that prevents overshooting the next number in the sequence due to excess force on the plunger. I want this thing to be as user-friendly as possible. The 2-player scoreboard definitely has become a favorite. I use it at home regularly for game night. A breakdown of the 2-player scoreboard is going to be one of the next two videos I post. So to answer your question, yes, I will be posting the STL files for the 7-seg display. Also, as a side note, the mechanism of 7-seg unit shown in this video is identical to the mechanism in the 2-player scoreboard (with two of them mounted side-by-side in a single case).
