- Join me to see Chub & Barbel on the bank from the River Severn at Monkmoor in Shrewsbury.
Apologies for any wind noise on the camera - It was a wild day!!
That didn't stop the bites coming! Some very decent fish caught during this session including an early season best!
There will also be a follow-up video from this session so please subscribe for that - I had to go back for another session on a calmer day which yielded some amazing results.
Please leave any comments and I'll reply back as soon as I can - Thanks for watching.

Great session Rob. Some cracking Chub. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks Ian - Good luck with your own fishing 👍🎣
Just found your videos and love them just getting back on the Severn after not fishing there for over 30 years. Great footage 👏
Thanks Dave - Good luck back on the Severn - Hopefully a few in the net 🎣👍
Nice session 👍🏻 I thought I was the only one who struggles with their net in the flow/wind 😂
Thanks Mark.. It was a bit of a game that day for sure 😂🎣
Great video ... been helpful starting barbel fishing. Is that stretch of monkmoor easy to access as the website warns of highbanks ...
Sydney avenue is quite easy to get onto but want to try monkmoor ... thank you for sharing the videos !
Thanks Andrew! Most of the high bank pegs have proper wooden steps fitted now so it’s very accessible. Lots of choices of pegs to go at - It’s well worth a visit 👍🎣
Hi Rob great video as usual. I haven't fished monkmore for about 10 years. Used to be really good fishing there. But they were having problems with loads of Eastern European people fishing the far bank camping for weeks at a time . But looks like you've had a good days fishing. Tight lines for your next trip .👍🎣
Thanks Darren.. Thanks for watching again. It was a lively day out with the winds. I’ve not seen anyone fishing the far bank recently (other than the pub grounds) so it’s possible they’ve since moved on. Tight lines for your fishing also 👍🎣
They eat the fish, no keep net they use the carry bag.
great video again you're enthusiasm is contagious. some great angling in a lovely peg, keep up the good work and thanks for posting .were you using 4 oz leads in that flow.
Thanks Mark - I’ve been using 2oz and 3oz only so far this season.. 👍
I’ve fished that peg, we used fish the corner across from the big houses on night sessions. Was crazy, soon as dark came two rods be going all night. Used have fetch one rod in got that crazy. Watched a meteor shower one night too
It's a shame you can't night fish it now - I'd be up for a session there myself if you could..
Hi Rob, great video mate. Just wondering what this stretch this under of the fisheries?
Hi Scott, this is the Shrewsbury Town Fisheries stretch - You can buy a ticket on their website for the day or season. A season ticket is well worth it as it gets you on Sydney Avenue also. 👍
I thought I was watching the carp video when the man tackle up. Used to be hemp/caster and the luncheon meet when I fish there in the 70s
Cracking vlog .. good morals as an angler also 🌞🎣🎣
Fixed mongoose 7 years ago got sick of having car broken into so gave up going had some good fishing there John guick
Thanks Barry - Good luck with your own fishing 👍🎣
Great video rob, we do need some rain with the rivers being low and a bit stale.... just to freshen them up
Agreed there Lyndon.. The forecast looks unhelpful for a couple of weeks yet though.
New subscriber. Great videos mate!!
Thanks James - Much appreciated 👍🎣
Good vid Rob....what`s the parking like for that stretch ? was thinking of giving it a bash.
Hi Kev, there is plenty of parking on that stretch - There’s 2 locations under road bridges with ample room for numerous cars 👍
@@RobsAngling cheers Rob tight lines
by the way,do you think those CKO baits work more specifically on the Severn or have you had success on other rivers with them ?
