      Japan was way ahead than the rest of the world in braodcasting and telecom technology from the 1980s to early 2000s. So much so that many of their highly advanced telecom standards and gadgets which were already in widespread local adoption became 'isolated' from the rest of the world (leading to the phrase 'Galapagos Syndrome'). For e.g., going online with mobile phones was already commonplace there by late 1990s (but virtually unheard of elsewhere). Unfortunately the bursting of their bubble economy hit the industries hard; these days, they are a pale shadow of their past dominance (though still fairly strong relative to all but the most technologically advanced nations).

      Она быстро прошла реабилитацию, просто в США - к этому относятся так что получился большой резонанс.
      Она быстро реабилитировалась - это значит не было алкоголизмом, если бы был, женский алкоголизмом не лечится.
      Оксана, в 13 лет потеряла маму - мама это ангел хранитель - такой возраст - переломный.

    • @ctruth6185
      @ctruth6185 Před 3 lety

      Actually, the triple-lutz, double toe combination was NOT two footed. It was a touchdown which in those days amounted to a 1.0 to 1.5 deduction and that is what the judges deducted. Technically, if it were a two-footed jump, the rotation of the landing would've come to a complete stop with two feet on the ice. Instead, the landing foot flowed out to allow her to perform the double toe jump without a problem. Never did you see both feet land solidly on the ice or the jump come to a dead stop. Her non landing leg brushed the ice. That's a touchdown! You don't know a touchdown from a two-footed landing. A two footed jump was a 3.0 to 4.0 deduction.

    Lillehammer's Queen: Oksana Baiul. It was said that the ladies figure skating event would be the biggest, most lucrative & most watched event in the entire winter Olympic games. It was announced, that whoever, won that contest would become the most popular athlete of those games. The winning skater would become the Queen of Lillehammer; it turned out to be a 16-year old world champion, imagine that!

    I think this should have been her music/costume for the Long Program instead of the short! (basically, she should have switched her short and long programs around).

    • @katsuki116
      @katsuki116 Před 4 lety +1

      But isn’t it a great strategy? Takes the lead going to the long will give her great advantage and an edge over her rivals. After it’s all about reputation judging with influence of impression at times.

    • @lflagr
      @lflagr Před 4 lety +4

      @@katsuki116 Except she didn't have the lead going into the long (probably because of the small error on her 3 lutz). Still, even with that small mistake, this is, in my opinion, a much better routine/program than her long program, which seemed kinda randomly thrown together.

    • @katsuki116
      @katsuki116 Před 4 lety +2

      lflagr I totally agree. Her short is epic and to be remembered for years but I can’t even recall what her long was except for the impression of her (lousy) costume for the long. Having said that, it is very impressive for the achievement she attains not to mention that she is an orphan and comes from a dissolving ex-USSR country (with far fewer resources compared with her rivals)
