- Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's franchise has seen many entries over the years over the course of this new FNAF themed retrospective series we are going to take a detailed look at each and every one of them. In episode 1 of The Complete History of Five Nights at Freddy's we return to 2014 and the release of the first FNAF game. We look at the origins of FNAF, the games development, the story and gameplay, the animatronics explained and finally easter eggs and secrets contained within. fun fact: Foxy was planed all along to be in fnaf, but was the last character to be conceived. Scott had trouble deciding what animal to be in the cove, before deciding on a fox. Bonnie runs down the hall in the fnaf 1 trailer because Scott wanted to keep him a secret before launch.

Actually Scott himself in an interview explained why Bonnie was the one to run down the hallway in the trailer. It was actually done in order to keep the existence of Foxy a secret until the game came out. And Bonnie removing his mask was little more than a way to make the trailer more interesting. Bonnie was never intended to run down the hall, it is however a common misconception so I don’t blame you for not knowing.
And the reason imputing 1987 on the “Customize Night” menu causes a Golden Freddy jump scare is because way back when the game was first released there were a lot of hoaxes and false rumors that inputing 1987 on the menu would cause a secret cutscene to play out. Scott thought it would be funny to add the jump scare into the game with its 1.1 patch. It was both to dispel the rumors/hoaxes and it was a funny way to troll the people dumb enough to fall for it.
Honestly imagine being able to tell everyone that your dad is the sole creator of one of the most influential horror games in all of gaming history like damn it’s definitely some shoes to fill when you think about it
Those kids probably aren’t even scared of the games bc it reminds them of their dad which is kinda wholesome to think about. And also badass :)
I imagine that as long as the kids don’t become game developers they shouldn’t feel much pressure. I can’t imagine however having a father so popular in the game industry. So maybe they do.

It's still an awesome origin story where Scott did what some indie devs couldn't do and instead of being a brat about the bad reviews, he used it to motivate himself to make FNAF which now got him to where he is today. It's quite inspirational. It never gets old to just hear about the game's story.
The “It’s me,” is connected to golden Freddy. Cassidy posses golden Freddy and want revenge on William there is proof of this in UCN were some part of the death lines say, “ the one your should not have killed”

You know the lore is great when we’re still theorizing on older and newer games at the same time.
I would never have the guts to play these games again, but the lore is just so intriguing. I'm glad this video exists and I can't wait for the next one

Ah, I remember when I was in middle school and kids were playing this game on their phones.
I was like 11 when it started to come to my school and I was watching a boy play it and he screamed when he got Jumpscared. I just kinda jumped a little and went back to reading

You know what's interesting. The entering of 1987 in the custom night originally did not crash the game. It was added in as a response of rumors that if you entered it in custom night you would get to see the bite of 87.
Yeah for a brief moment we returned to the crazy game rumors of the olden days of gaming.

This video is exactly what I was looking for. There are so many videos explaining the lore of Fnaf but it’s hard for me to find a fairly short video that describes just the game’s storyline. The lore looks cool, but I didn’t know the game to start with, so I was bit lost in it. I’ll be watching this entire series, because there’s no way I’m ever going to actually play these games! I am a chicken and won’t play horror games, but I do like storylines and play throughs.
8:25 actually, William didn’t build the animatronics for Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, it was Henry, William build the animatronics from Circus Baby’s Pizza World
Henry wasn't show up in 1993 pizzaria so william design the animatronics by disguising as a technician and a security gaurd
@@bullymaguire321 no, those animatronics are from the 1985 location, they wjere than moved to the 1987 location (fnaf 2) and where used for spare parts, than in 1993 they had a brand new redesign, made by Fazbear Entertaniment using parts from the older snimatronics, hence why they are posseced, and there is no indication henry wasn't around that time, he could still be the animatronic manufactor for Fazbear Entertaniment.

@Édouard Francoeur wrong, they created Fredbear's Family Diner, as stated in The Silver Eyes novel, and in fnaf 2 phone guy says "We're going to try to contact the original restaurant owner. Uh, I think the name of the place was "Fredbear's Family Diner" or something like that." witch tells us that Fazbear Entertaniment, (the parent company of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza), is not owned by the owners of Fredbear's Family Diner, witch belongs to William Afton and Henry Emily, so it's likely that after the sucsses of Fredbear's Family Diner, Fazbear Entertaniment made a deal with Henry, where they would use his animatronic figures and license his characters to make their own family restaurant based of Henry's conçept, that means that Henry earned at least some of the revenue, he might have owned the first Freddy Fazbear's Pizza after Fredbear's Family Diner closed, but it would have been more like owning a franchise from a huge brand.

Problem with mats videos is that, if you watch the first ones without a good knowledge of the lore at that point, it just... feels weird. So when you get up to the newer theories, you have to empty your brain out and forget about the previous theories. Look up Footofaferret and look for his timeline video, it was recent, so its accurate. Him and mat worked together to make a timeline. Anyways yeah kinda true lol.

Great video! This series will be a really nice nostalgic refresher for long time fans heading into Security Breach, as well as a nice approachable intro for new fans looking to understand the series so far.
I think the reason scott dudnt put foxy in the 1st trailer is because he wanted to keep one of the animatronics a secret until the game came out.
Imagine a world where Scott didn't take the criticism for his games in a good way and just quit altogether. Now go tell that world to disappear, because I don't want to imagine a world that horrible. FNAF has had a major influence not on just the horror genre of videogames, but the entire videogame industry itself.

This is crazy. I was in 6th grade when the first game came out and I remember everyone would play it during P.E when we were supposed to be participating. I remember how much fun the first game was but after that, I forgot about the game for a few years. Now I’m a freshman in college and heard about the Fnaf fandom and the hype for security breach and in all honesty, I never thought the game(s) would get this far. I never understood the lore which is why I’m here now and maybe I’ll finally play Fnaf again after all these years.
Oh my goodness I have been looking for a video like this. A video that gives us the story and information that is based off the game itself and lore within the game given by hints and clues not theorys that are developed after some time with other games releasing.
When I played fnaf 1 for the first time, I actually managed to get to night 5 without dying once, though I feel like I made it through night 4 by chance.
When Mike was talking about the plot at the beginning, it was nice to hear that music back again

The Animatronics never actually stare into the camera, it's in the files but can never happen in the game. It's kind of a Mandela effect.

I always found freddy would move to the hall after attempting to come into the office while the door is closed. when he reached the corner, since he doesnt enter the blind spot, i just close the door every time i peak at the camera. this makes him move eventually. atleast this is what happens to me.
