- 1956 Buick SPECIAL - Indeed she is!!!
Buick’s entry-level Special was all-new for 1954, with a wider and lower stance, a less pronounced rear fender hump, blunt tailfins, new steering linkage, and better power steering. The mid-size model was the best-selling Buick, and was offered at a two-door sedan, a two-door Riviera hardtop (itself the best-selling Special for the year), a four-door sedan, a four-door station wagon, and a six-passenger convertible. Hardtops and convertibles had rounded rear wheel arches while the sedan and wagon had them squared off. All body styles had trim over the top of the arch, as well as three ventiports and a striking waterfall grille. Special prices ranged from $2,200 to $3,163.
Under the hood, the Special was powered by a new 264-cid V-8 engine that generated 146 hp when paired to a three-speed manual transmission, and 150 hp when mated to the Dynaflow automatic shifter.

Love those old Buicks.
Very sweet ride!
Sure is, thanks for watching!
That is one of the top three most beautiful cars ever built!
She's a beauty for sure!
🇨🇦🍁❤️As a Canadian fan, I have so much appreciation for this vehicle, it’s history and dedication to make it a “Stunning” piece of art. Much respect indeed. I grew up in a 1955 Buick Special turquoise and white. Same starter set up as well as my dad’s 1959 Buick Invicta. Your brought back wonderful memories for me. Cheers👍
Thanks for sharing, we’re glad we were able to help bring back some good memories. Thanks for watching!
Just Beautiful !!!.
Even more so in person! Thanks for watching!
Congratulations sir on an outstanding Buick. I live in a northern climate similar to Wisonsin where this car derives (Ontario) and it's amazing to find this iconic Buick in the shape it was in. And the price, even back then, was super cheap. It all makes for a great story and the best part is you have an amazing car to enjoy and take to shows. Two left thumbs up 👍👍
Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching
Have always loved the styling of Buicks.
Agreed! Its a beautiful car. Thanks for watching
Had a 56 just like this except the hood was shaved and it had three on the tree, very unusual. My first car, would like to have it back.
Sweet! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Awesome 💕
💯 percent!
Yes it is, thanks for watching!
Guys lots of love God bless you always
I have had my Buick Special '56 four door hardtop for 37 years. I am the third owner.
Thanks for watching
I had a '56 Buick Special Convertible in 1979 to 1982. In mint condition
it was solid red black top with a red & black interior all stock.
It was one of my favorite cars i bought it from a collector & I took one look at it with the top down & I knew I wanted the car. I wished I kept it. the 56, 55 & 54 Buicks are my 3 favorite years.
We all have that "one" that got away! Thanks for sharing
That foot pedal starter system was started in the late 1930's or early 1940's. I drove a 41 Super coupe that had it. An uncle had a 40 Buick Century that had it as well.
That’s a pretty cool party trick. Thanks for sharing
Beautiful car
It sure is! Thanks for watching
Wow! Seems like a more understated version of the 57.
Had a 55 DeSoto that had that same rain gutter feature.
Thanks for sharing and for watching!
If Ziebart rustproofing and exterior finish had been standard features on ALL makes and models, cars would not rust out so easily.
Those used to be standard aftermarket add ons back in the day, especially for snowy and costal areas
My dad had this car same color
Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Big 56 Buick fan. Gorgeous 😍
Yes it is! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful machine!😁🛠️
Indeed it is. Thanks for watching
Buick Specialista
Thanks for watching!
Very Nice. 😊
And a great guy to boot!
The details in that car inside and out is amazing. All that chrome and metal word inside and out will cost a fortune nowadays. It will all be black plastic crap now. That chrome quality is epic.
Its even more stunning in person! Thanks for watching
Sweet! What’s the name of those wheels?
Yes it is, not sure about the wheels. Thanks for watching!
What does the motor look like and under the hood? Beautiful car
If you watch the video starting at 20:12 you’ll see it. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful car, too bad about the pimp wheels and tires. Completely ruins the nostalgia. Ugh. Whoever chose that combo should find another day job.
To each his own. Thanks for watching
