  • The Bureau for Inclusive Growth, Partnerships, and Innovation’s Center for Economics and Market Development (IPI/EMD) hosted a webinar on Promoting Fair Competition in the Digital Economy on Tuesday June 18, 2024.
    Robust frameworks for competition and consumer protection are indispensable foundations for partner countries seeking to promote inclusive economic growth, sustain economic competitiveness, promote gender equality and equity, support resilient democratic institutions, and strengthen the rule of law.
    The webinar discussed the Promoting Fair Competition in the Digital Economy Technical Brief, published by USAID in April 2023 for international development practitioners-namely USAID staff and partners whose development programs are impacted by competition within the digital economy.
    The brief provides readers with:
    An understanding of how fair competition enables and sustains digital economies that can create economic opportunity for small- and medium-size enterprises; offer useful, equitable services to end-users; and strengthen respect for the rule of law in a given country;
    and
    Concrete examples and learning on how USAID programs can stimulate fair competition either as a primary focus of a standalone activity or a component of a larger activity.
