Serving on subs in the Navy allowed us to see a lot of countries, meet a lot of people, this was all before real smartphones. The look on a European's face when someone attempts to communicate in their language is so humbling, because they are mostly so grateful, except the French, lol! I've all studied Greek and Hebrew so Crete and Israel were a lot of fun.
Irish names, by far, are the hardest, as they do not follow any "English" language rules. Ireland truly has their own dialect/vernacular. I love the nuances to the rhythm of the Irish spoken language. It is just beautiful.

Especially during the press junkets/tour for Wonder Woman the interviewers nearly always pronounced it that way (Gah-DOH), including Chris Pine of all people. Gal's Israeli accent I believe throws people off too slightly when she herself says her name. It does at times sound like she's saying Ga-DOETE as you've said but she's pretty much made it crystal clear it's Ga-DOT "with a soft t at the end" as she said in a recent interview.
