      They definitely don’t. They tend to sound stilted and bland which is why they can only do a generic American accent (like a TV anchor), instead of specific regions

      Julie Small it’s one of the easiest accents (hard to get exactly perfect) but the basic American accent is pretty simple

      His accent in that was great but it's pretty wrong in Billions, because it's supposed to be a very specific New York City accent (Staten Island) and he just can't do it right. Great actor, but accents are tough.

    1:47 "Yorkshire puddings" Grew up in Minnesota, and the Swedes there make "oven pancakes" which are basically Yorkshire puddings with nutmeg. We serve the sausage on the side, and put apple sauce on the pancake, though. Really good that way.

    Michael Caine was filming a movie where he needed a southern accent, and he had the good fortune to meet Vivien Leigh. He asked her how she perfected her accent for "Gone With the Wind", and she said she went around saying "fowah dowah fowad" (four-door Ford) until she was blue in the face. :-D

    You know it’s understandable when people have trouble with American accents when there’s 50 states most of which have different accents. But when there’s more than 42 accents on a collection of islands barely wider than Nebraska. It really puts things in perspective.

    A note on the New York accent - besides being the hardest for Brits to do, if an American actor has that accent, speech coaches that help American actors lose their regional accent, say that it is the hardest one to get rid of..

      @@lejenddairy Yes, exactly. Remember Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta or Johnny Depp in oh so many British films. There is quite a few. The trouble isn't Americans getting jobs on British sets and vice versa. When I did a study in media, to but it straight, we need more ethnicity in front of the camera as well as in post production. It's improving but hardly by leaps and bounds.

    Yorkshire pudding, yes! I was only able to get one about 2 hours away at a Scot-owned pub called The Highlander near Virginia Beach. Wasn't even on the menu but they made it for me. A Brit friend of mine that I played online with gave me his mum's recipe though.
