Since getting my first mirrorless camera, the original XPro1 in 2012, I’ve always photographed both personally and professionally with the EVF in high contrast B&W. It is much easier to compose when you can see the exact results before, and the tones are inspiring.
I like seeing the B&W image in the EVF when shooting Acros with my X100V! Acros is so cool … can’t get enough, usually Acros+R. That seems to be my default JPEG setting plus raw. Great video and thanks for the accessory gear info! 📷😀
Once I held the Q2, few cameras could keep up. It just handles so perfect for street. I'm currently unloading other gear to pick one up. I have that 3L Hex Ranger bag and it's great. My kid is 8 and has started showing some interest.. and I can fit my Sony a7Rii with Voigtlander 21/3.5 + Sony 35/2.8 in the main pouch; then a Sony RX100ii in the padded frontmost zipper pocket for him. Still room for masks, notepad, phone, and batteries in the middle. I swear they found a way to get 5L capacity with that thing! Fun video. Nice and laid back. I agree seeing b&w in the EVF makes a huge difference. I get what he's saying about film... But like many things film, we didn't know how much better it could be! Colors massively shape our impression of value (especially reds), and our eyes adjust to contrast quickly. Value welding and shape based graphical composition is something we can work on for life without ever perfecting... and having a guide stone right there in the EVF is invaluable. It's also great for shooting RAW. Compose with value for clear read in the EVF, keep the color too in the RAW.
Thanks for your comments! I've been giving my kids my old cameras as they get older and try to foster their creativity! That's great your kid is getting into. Keep encouraging it! --You've got a fun channel btw! Great stuff. With Gratitude, Todd, Ken and the DSB team!
