The twin fairies who are mothra's priestesses are called the shobijin [sho-bee-gin] and belvera is an evil shobijin who hates humanity
Yeah, Belvera kinda wishes the world was the way it was before Desghidorah's rampage.
Much like the Gamera films, the Mothra Trilogy is a mix of the magical kid friendly genre and shockingly monster brutality. Which I just find hilarious.
Desghidorah and Grand Ghidorah are nice twists on the old space dragon too.

Desghidorah is also a case of the "too badass to die" trope.
@@marhawkman303 There's no such thing as "Grand Ghidorah." He's "King Ghidorah." He's never billed in the movie as anything other than "King Ghidorah/Kingu Gidora." The Japanese title even has his name in it-- "Mosura 3: Kingu Gidora Raishu/Mothra 3: King Ghidorah Attacks."
King Ghidorah came to the earth to grow upon the lifeforce of children, just as he'd grew upon the lifeforce of dinosaurs when he was here in prehistory.
Tho sadly unlike gamera mothra trilogy didn't get better in a revival similar to heisei godzilla

For what ever reason, i misheard ”King Ghidorah” as ”kinky Dora” and now i cannot unhear it....
Also I really hate when Mothra dies in these movies, Godzilla movies and the Monsterverse but I still do think she is powerful as well as her little babies.
Even tho we know they’re amazing, I would love one of these with the three Heisei Gamera films.

The Gamera trilogy was happening at the same time and Shinji Higuchi's effects for that series, were FAR superior. Higuchi had indeed surpassed his mentor, Kochi Kawakita.
Gamera trilogy was the best by far.

Personally I think the second installment was the best. I was never as big a fan of Mothra as I was Godzilla but the fact that the Big Bug finally got a trilogy of her own is commendable.

Slight missed opportunity: when Death Ghidora got its wings, you should've said it leveled up after the XP from killing Mothra lol

The first Mothra has a special place in my (Cybertronian equivalent), as it was the very first kaiju movie I ever saw, I was like 8, I think, and I LOVED IT!!!! Haven't seen it in a while, need to change that. Thanks, Brandon, you're awesome!!!

Every time he was on screen when I first watched this movie, I kept going "Is that Onita? No, it can't be. Nobody would cast a deathmatch icon as the dad in a kids' movie!". Lo and behold, Toho absolute would cast Atsushi Onita as the dad in a kids' movie. Just watch, they'll bring back Mothra in a few years and it'll be Jun Kasai's turn to play the dad.

Having a movie with Ghidorah being the cause of the non-avian dinosaurs’ extinction and not involving Godzilla was a huge missed opportunity. Especially considering how the 1991 Godzilla vs King Ghidorah movie went, and both that film and Rebirth of Mothra 3 utilized time travel even.
Godzilla doesn't exist in the continuity of the 90s Mothra trilogy.

Back in the time travel scene, the first riff out of my mouth was "Once this moth hits 88 miles per hour, you're gonna see some serious shit.".
I always assumed king ghidorah, death ghidorah and kaiser ghidorah were all meant to be different members of the ghidorah species so I do think of death ghidorah as mothras villain whereas king ghidorah and kaiser ghidorah are godzilla villains
In the screenplay of "Mothra 3", Death Ghidorah was revealed to be King Ghidorah's son. But that and many other plot points were dropped along the way to the screen.

Considering all the monsters in the tohoverse that have never gotten their sequel moments, mothra could easily lead a whole series of movies where it teams up with, or fights against other monsters.
