I have a question, can't the laptop be turned on without the DC jack since the battery is still there? Or is it the laptop safety mechanism to prevent power from going in until it is detected as safe again once power flows through the DC jack?
I'm asking because my DC jack is burnt. I can smell the burn slightly but it's not bad. There doesn't seem to be any other places on the motherboard that looks or smells fried.
I tried removing the jack, resetting the CMOS battery and then reinsert the battery, but the laptop won't turn on. Looks like I really have to replace the jack? Just thinking if it's worth the trouble.
    Thanks!

Please reply my message. Alianware type same as you. When you want to charge .and the charger jack goes into the DC Jack, the alienware charger adapter that was previously on immediately turns off and the DC Jack on the laptop smells burnt. What is the problem with the DC Jack ? Or another problem?

thanks, mine's just gone dead and I'm wondering if it's this. I think the usb c port is visual only otherwise nowadays you could test by plugging that way too couldn't you. I'm first trying a new charger as although the light is green on the one I have, perhaps it's that. the port looks fine, not the damage you could see on that unit

Hi, a quick question: is that ok to replace the old 14.8v battery (the original one) with a new 15.2v battery?

I would match up with the dell part number to ensure compatibility. A replacement may fit and give slightlty different specs.

My alienware 13 r2 stopped powering up.
I changed the ad-dc jack and also the charger but it still does not power on. I have triple checked all the cables and everything is fine.

try removing battery, and turn on with charger only. sometimes battery goes too low power that i does not even turn on the laptop with charger attached.

How did you reconnect those antennae to the WiFi card so quickly? Is there a trick to it?

The cables snap on to the card. I used tweezers to do it since they r small

they are just like little bottle caps, just pull them, they get off.

hi brother, you need to install Alienware command center to run the lights ! google the model number and download from dell official website.
