- Michael Penix Jr. The Most Interesting QB in the NFL Draft. Once he stayed healthy Michael Penix Jr. made Washington an elite football team. The offense leaned on his deep ball and he led them to a national championship appearance. Will he be selected in the first round of the NFL draft? Teams like the Giants, Raiders, Broncos, Seahawks, Rams, Saints & Steelers could all be interested. #michaelpenixjr #penix #nfldraft #michaelpenix #washington #giants #broncos #steelers #saints #fields #quarterback #chicagobears #QB #genosmith #russellwilson #gardnerminshew #raiders #falcons #seahawks

As a Washington Huskies fan, I'll say that Michael Penix, Jr was really a revelation up at UW. He came in and took a team that went 4-8 before he got there to the Alamo Bowl the first year and the freaking National Championship game the next year!
Whatever team picks up Michael Penix, Jr is going to get a real gem of a QB. The injuries are worrying, but if he stays healthy he will be a great QB.
We weren’t 4-8, but that’s how us duck fans feel about Bo Nix. We haven’t had a cemented starter since Mariota, and it was the first time in years I felt we could win the natty (damn you UW). That being said I love the way penix played the last 2 years and he’ll be great
@@Hablonoenlgleswtf are you talking about? Justin Herbert? 😂😂😂😂
He’s gotta stop panicking under pressure
@@Hablonoenlgles That Duck team was incredible. People have no idea how good that team was, and honestly I think they were a better matchup for Michigan than UW. But they lost twice. Thing is the only reason they lost twice was Penix. They boatraced almost everyone else. They played a weak opponent in the bowl game, but were severely overlooked as one of the best teams this past year. They just had to face Penix otherwise I think they would have been undefeated.
@@HablonoenlglesBo Dawg Shit Nix 0-3 vs UW and was crying on the sideline when y’all still had a chance to win. That cry baby ass loser attitude isn’t lasting in the nfl. Bo Nix sucks all he does is throw screen passes. Penix literally carried his team to a Natty and was robbed of a heisman.
I’d say he has that big Penix energy
😂
Don't you mean jr penix energy?
💯
If he can't make it in the pros he has a future on the hub
Going to live near Phoenix energy
The tim Tebow clips always get me 🤣
Nothing else matters
same, where is that from?
didnt know about his speed. impressive considering his past injuries. Wish nothing but success for the young man
That’s the crazy part, he doesn’t need his speed because he can win from the pocket, so even if people were to completely tear up his ACLs, he’d still be able to win from the pocket
I watched every game Penix played last season. Man has serious talent.
He might be the lucky one in the draft and drop a little bit, to end up on hopefully a better team. I like his play, reminds me of Watson, the good Watson that is, before the legal trouble. Penix has to have mental toughness to be able to come back from all those injuries. It will be interesting to see where he goes, does he fall to someone, or does a team go up and get him?
@@user-en9qd5nx8w him having a big game against Michigan would have made me much more confident in saying this, but with the right coaching, I really think he could be a top 10 QB in the nfl by year 3.
@@Akkbar21 true, but if he sits a year...at least my thinking
@@Akkbar21 I didn't realize he played 6 seasons, I'm sure party due to timing of his injury he got more years, but that's a lot of experience, he's going to be ready to go. Raiders and Vikings have guys in place as a bridge. I like Klatt's idea of Miami, but I think they're committed to Tua. Giants could be good. Looking forward to seeing how he is at the next level.
@@user-en9qd5nx8w I would be happy to take the risk on denver with Penix. I just liked a lot of what I saw from him this season. He’s not perfect, but who is at both levels tbh. He’s highly skilled, but needs development. 🤞
Before all the major Steelers QB shake ups I was lowkey hoping in some way the Steelers were going to Draft him.... To who ever this dude goes too, I hope he succeeds and can make a major impact for a franchise in his career. Good Luck Penix Jr.
i still 100% belive we should draft jpj
If Penix is on the board, the Steelers should take him 100%. Yes we have other needs, but we need a QB too.
@@lostalone9320you just traded for fields. No point giving up a high pick for penix when you have other needs
@@MelonSkywalker absolutely. Or Graham Barton if JPJ is off the blard
Me too. Imagine what Pickens could do with those deep balls coming his way.
As a Huskies and Seahawks fan... Wish him very best of luck!
I am SICK Washington gave Seattle Sam Howell for pennies. Watch Howell is going to go there and beat Gino in the offseason. Howell was done dirty by Ron and Eric Beinemy. They gave him no help on the offensive line. Then they passed the ball 40+ times a game. That’s a recipe for disaster for a first year starter. Eric refused to run the football. Brain Robison and Gibson both averaged over 4 yards a carry just Eric was too stupid to realize that all he wanted to do was pass the ball and let Sam get crushed behind that horrid o line. Even with all those bad things going against Howell. he lead the league in passing for a majority of the year. Until the last 3-5 game he was passed in amount of passing yards.
UW & 12's unite in wishing him an amazing career in the NFL
It's looking a lot like either the Vikings or Raiders are drafting him. Good God, MP9 being able to throw to guys like JJ or Davante Adams would be incredible
wouldn't it be sweet to see him in a Seahawks uniform?
@@user-hj2fw3fm6n definitely would be! Wishful thinking at this point thou. 🤞
As a UW student who has been waiting for this video forever I am vibrating in my seat
Do you like Penix?
@@danilthorstensson8902 can't not be a fan of the MP9
As a Husky fan, it was pretty easy getting over the left handed thing. I was just more shocked by the passes he was throwing at first. The ball was just flying off his fingers and he was fearlessly slinging all over like a mad-man. I was just waiting for the INT's. But after a couple games I realized he's just special.
Penix goes down all the time, but Penix never fails to get back up stronger than before. Cant wait to see if NFL enlarges Penix or just shrivels. 😅
A lot of people in these comments have small Penix energy
What is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger!
Watching Penix grow through the years has been exciting to watch. Such an arousing prospect. Definitely will be stiff competition in any division.
It's all about blood flow and the level of excitement when the time comes.
@@DresdenShufflefunny comment fr and I think penis I mean penix will go to the Steelers and ball out!
Big arm and underrated athlete. Has the injury history and issues with injuries but has been healthy last 2 years.
My issue with Penix Jr isn't his age, injury issues or his limited experience as a starter - it's the fact he dominated because of the talent around him and a coach who put him in a position to succeed.
It's the Burrow Conundrum except he didn't do it in the SEC, he did it in the PAC-12 and when we saw him against NFL talent who took away some of those strengths - he struggled immensely.
Penix was not the same man in Indiana and despite the magic in a bottle that was 22 and 23 at Washington I'd be straight up terrified he'll just be turbo ass without the right coaching situation in the NFL.
@@blue-pi2kt he throws a lot of jump balls to his receivers and misses easy reads. He is a project qb who could be very good but in his current form he should sit for a year
He changed the way he plays the last 2 years, stopped scrambling which used to be a huge part of his game.
@@jameswinslow8540You must have not watched a lot of his games. He throws absolute dimes downfield. And anyone can throw a jump ball and they’re usually not successful no matter how great the receiver. But Penix throws an incredible jump ball where he throws his receiver open. Not just a 50 50 ball, he puts it where his guy has a great chance to catch it. And he has an incredibly accurate long out route pass, which is unstoppable if you can consistently do that. If you watched most of his games I think you would realize he’s more pro ready than almost any other college qb, bc his throws are to guys who are barely open which is how it will be in the nfl. Most other top qbs are throwing to receivers that are wide open and it will not be like that in the nfl. Even comparing him to the #1 prospect in Caleb, Caleb is throwing to receivers that are much more open than Penix.
@@downsouth00 His rushing stats would not indicate he was a scrambling quarterback. The most attempts he took at Indiana was 22 in 6 games.
So glad we got Balls Deep with Penix
You could say we got Penix Balls Deep
Don’t get me too excited. It’s almost bedtime.
He's a great fit for Seattle. He can sit for half the season, and work on his flaws
I don’t think Seattle continued to persue Grubb’s after he had already been hired on accident.😉
@@PlaneBelief Tf u talking abt? They hired grubb bc he was one of the top college ocs last year.
With our WR corp, that'd be a dream...as long as he stays healthy. Geno would be a great mentor. Which means I doubt we'll get him, lol.
@@notorioustori lol yeah. They gonna end up drafting a TE or something
As a uw fan, i hope he does well. Dude is a stud💯
Those tim tebow clips still crack me up so much lmao
This man absolutely LOVES Penix.
It’s crazy to me that people are talking about taking jj in the top 5, yet Penix falls out of the first round in many mock drafts.
I just hope JJ doesn't become the next Zac Wilson.
@@phidostik He won't. Zach Wilson by all accounts was kind of a douche in college, whereas JJ is viewed as that all American boy next door. Scarily, teams are falling in love with his intangibles so much, that I think some top 8 team is gonna be like "we can overlook everything else, he's just such a great leader."
Slingin' it like Uncle Rico
"Coach woulda put me in 4th quater, we would have been state champions. NO DOUBT. No doubt in my mind"
If Michael didn't have an injury history, he's a top 5 pick. Hopefully, he goes to a team with a strong O-Line and run game.
In another draft without Daniels and Williams in it, injury free Penix could be a no.1 overall pick
the falcons watched this and said, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
Yes, and Penix ran a 4.5 40. He wasn't injured at UW over two years. Penix throws the ball perfectly down field and made his receivers look good as well. Can't believe people claim his arm is weak. Totally ridiculous.
This man brought so much joy to the Husky True fans this year. We always knew we were in every game with him. I would actually say out loud "okay you are ahead right now but we got Michael Penix Jr. so good luck!" and he always delivered, he is a winner big time!
I mostly want him to be drafted by my team so I can buy his jersey and make Penix jokes the rest of my life
Same
The dad joke heaven within reach.
Hope you’re feeling better, Brandon !
Penix will be great in the NFL, and whatever team drafts him will probably have a steal considering how underrated he is in most mock drafts
he doesnt go through his progressions well, and he relied a lot on his elite receiving talent to get jump balls. He's a project qb at the moment.
NO QB is guaranteed to be great in the NFL
As a Lefty myself I always root for fellow Lefties. I love seein Tua light it up, and hopefully this kid can come in and also put on for us Lefties.
May the spirit of Steve Young, who in this ONE instance is unfortunatley still alive, be with him on every field his presence graces.
Southpaws stand up😎
Yo!! 💪
Lefties unite
People don't realize that throwing left handed is actually a cheat code. Better accuracy, better power and better masterbation
As a huge UW fan, whoever drafts Penix better take care of him
These QB videos are just an escalating case of justifying whomever the Broncos end up choosing.
💯
My words exactly.
It's just a shame that the Vikings pick right before the broncos (assuming the vikes don't land a trade-up). They might take Penix at 11 if the giants take McCarthy
My personal favorite QB in this draft. Loved watching him play these past years in Washington
Facts, to me, he’s QB1, most relatable/hard worker while also having the same/better talent as Williams.
Better than jj mccarthy, that's for sure.
We'll see come NFL season.
@@justinaug9879 Simple. Michigan's very elite defense, very elite run game, and Washington's lack of defense
Because it is like 25 v. 25 game with 11 on defense and offense? @@justinaug9879
@@justinaug9879 you are aware football is a team sport, right?
Actually watch McCarthy before saying this. He has all the tools to succeed in the NFL.
Penix on the other hand is extremely accurate but I worry about him under pressure. He doesnt know what to do at all. That Michigan game was telling of him.
As a Falcons fan, watching this a month before the draft with no serious interest is funny in hindsight
the Tim Tebow recurring gag is the funniest shit ever
Personally I think Penix might be the best QB in the draft. He's class.
If he goes to the right team, he’s going to likely be a top-10 QB in short order
I liked Penix Jr all year. So its been weird seeing his name disappear almost completely from draft boards. I just can't wait for my Bears to draft Caleb Williams and then watch Penix be a stud.
I guess that's why they say sweet dreams to bad they rarely come true and your qb will be a bust. His pink phone painted nails fragile mind and cold weather will get the best of him in that shit franchise.
these videos make my day, can’t wait for the draft to see what videos u come up with
I get that he’s older and injury prone, but imo his talent and intangibles outway the risk. Dude is a winner and played with a lot of poise and maturity. He also ran a great offense and was smart and seemed to be a great leader. I’d take that over most of these “potential” merchant QBs
Indiana fan. He gave our absolutely shit program a few of our greatest years. He's absolutely special. He's got a great arm and is more atheltic than he is given credit for, just please give him a clean pocket
I'm finally done being sick. I got sick a couple days before the chiefs bills playoff game
'Grats!
Fave QB in the draft. Has the intangibles
8:29 Man, that is a beautiful throw!
I'll be honest I don't watch college football at all and couldn't give less of a shit about most of these players but you do such a great job with your videos that I still watch ones like this (and enjoy!). I feel like you provide a wide breadth of info (and good jokes) while constantly keeping the video moving forward at a quick pace that is good for retention.
Felt the same way about your week 1 UFL recap video, I'd never watch a UFL game but enjoyed that video and I think you could keep making interesting recaps of that league every once in a while
These videos have made me excited for whichever QB we do end up taking
I don't understand the nock on him from the National Championship? I watched it again recently and I did nor see Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, or Bo Nix playing in that game. Penix Jr. is the real deal. He has shown more heart and talent than the other top prospects. He has faced adversity (over coming major injuries) and very talented teams in his career at Washington. His resume looks better to me than all the others but what do I know, I'm just some guy that makes comments on video threads.
A QB will always be criticized for playing poorly, even if it isn't primarily their fault. Shit, look at the Carr talk now after he spent 9 years with the worst defense in NFL history
I didn't see penix play in the second half of that game either.
michael penix jr. is the best quarterback in this draft
Listening to your video, I can ALMOST believe he can get over his obvious left-handed handicap.
love these videos man
I caught tht shot at depressed ginger 😂😂 u are thee best football youtube show period
The T Bo clips were hilarious!
As a Broncos fan, I hope we take him
That joke at the end got me. Never stop making videos.
He'd be a good fit for the Vikings. They have one of the best receiving duos in the league and it's not like the Vikings have relied on QBs running in a very long time.
Michael Vick would be the exception to the lefty observation. Dude had a canon.
Umm... Young, Stabler, Esiason, Brunell??? They had rocket arms & played into their late 30s & beyond.
Also, Daniels has the better deep ball. The stats do not lie.
Dude, hats off to the young man! Everything he overcame with injuries to get to the position he is today. Those injuries could have completely derailed or ended other player's NFL aspirations. Looking forward to watching this man play wherever he goes!
I apologize, players'*
As a Husky fan we've had BPE for two years now! Some team is going to be happy to get him. Kid can ball out
Of course he can ball out, ... He's a big penix ...
The amount of disrespect for Tua is unbelievable. Guy does nothing, but dominate.
Somebody is going to take a chance and grab the Penix.
....consensually
This is without question the best analysis of Penix I've seen. To win in the NFL, a QB has to get it done from the pocket. The occasional escape artist is a nice bonus, but history shows great QBs win from the pocket. I'd take Penix over every other QB in this class, including Williams. But he needs to go to a team that will use all his weapons. He's a three-point shooter. Can you imagine having Steph Curry and telling him not to put up threes.
Love you're show bro
The thing about Penix is he throws dimes to recievers who are barely open. All the other top ranked qb’s throw most of their passes to wide open receivers who will never be that open in the nfl.
And it’s not like it’s true 50/50 on many of them, with Odunze being a 4.46 (not 4.2) guy, he had to hit him with DBs draped over his neck, so he had to hit those with by definition NFL level accuracy.
That’s the difference. He never throws to wide open people and he throws dimes baby!!
He's left handed, however I've seen him throw with his right hand and I would argue that's a huge strength to his game. Makes it harder for defences to read his plays if he switches hands on the fly.
Best QB in the draft.
Penix is one of the most interesting, and scary, prospects in the draft. When he's healthy, he looks like a superstar, he's got all the physical and mental tools to be a very successful NFL QB. But I have to admit, his injury history scares the hell out of me. I'm equal parts excited and terrified to think of Denver drafting him. I'd prefer him to Bo Nix, but if we have a chance at McCarthy, I think I'd go that way, but damn its a tough call.
I think Sean Payton really wants Bo nix over penix.
As a uw and bucs fan I will also argue for Tampa bay drafting him. Bringing him home and letting him sit behind baker would be incredible for his development. Also imagining him throwing deep balls to Mike Evans and Godwin would be incredible.
I really like this kid!!!
'They look stupid throwing the football.'
Lol
It seems like you’re back on your feet. Top priority. You’re ALWAYS here. You need to take care of yourself.
I don’t even watch much draft stuff but when it’s you talking about it, I’m absolutely here.
If he stays healthy, he's going to be amazing.
This man has something others don't. He is a steely-eye gunslinger. I don't think he is far from done yet.
I like Penix but with a Sean Payton offense id prefer Bo Nix just in that offense
I live in Indy so I try to keep up with all our home state teams. IU definitely isn't a football powerhouse or anything, but i remember actual excitement for Penix at IU. He looked good, but he just kept getting hurt. It sucked because you could see a ton of potential. I'm glad to see he's been able to turn it around a have a couple of healthy years. I think he has a bright future as long as his body holds up. Can't wait to see him in the NFL.
Todd Davis would love to see him in Denver. So do I.
I'm happy with Tua. I'll take a Center at #21
I gotta say, the more I hear about MPJ, the more sold on him I am. He has a lot of NFL talent on his team, but his ball placement, speed, and his calm demeanor in the pocket are to be praised.
The 2022 OSU v UW is the game to watch to get a feel for Penix. That Beaver secondary was very good and well coached; all those DBs made NFL rosters. The weather was horrible, pouring rain and strong crosswinds. Penix shredded the those talented Beaver DBs in those conditions.
Hope you do a video on the New broncos Jersey
The more I watch this guy throw, the more i am impressed. I want to complain about him beating my favorite team in a few years for sure.
That's my birthday too BIG PENIX ENERGY
Great quarterback, elite arm strength and showed elite Athleticism at his pro day.
But he's got some issues.
He's super aggressive. Especially with the deep ball. Dude rips it downfield whenever he has the chance. He often struggles with ball placement. But he's still got tremendous upside.
Kind of funny you had Mark Brunell in there as he's also a former University of Washington QB who injured his knee during college.
For me, he’s the top guy, so I don’t understand how he went from the 3rd quarterback that should be taken, to not even being a 1st rounder possibly.
Thanks for the "deep plunge" with your Penix...
I hate myself but ThatsGood Sports is epic
"Defeated with McCarthyism" is my new favorite Perna line. If you can tie it to Russell Wilson somehow you've made it even more golden.
i love these goddamn videos lol
I see JJ McCarthy going to DEN.
You heard it here first.
I'm a Bears fan by the way.
He is the guy I want….
sssshhhhhh gotta keep him underrated
The Seahawks also hired Ryan Grubb to be the new OC and he was the OC at UW when Penix played there
Brandon, I've been calling for the Broncos to draft him for a year.
Penix and I share a bday and an alma mater (IU) and I'd love to see him in Denver!!!
You are telling me you can't wait for the Penix to get in? Anxious for Penix? (I'm sorry, had to do it. Sometimes the Penix works in strange ways.)
@@VeteranVandal Biggest Penix I've ever seen and he's only the JUNIOR!
Big Penix Energy
ALL I know is that out of all of the QBs I watched play last year, he was the most "Polished".
If I were Sean Peyton, Penix is the guy I'm drafting. Let him sit get some WR's in later rounds. Peyton could possibly play it like he "loves" Mccarthy, trade down gain a 2nd (and possibly 3rd).
Love your assessment on my boy Penix!
However, it’s the University of Washington in Seattle.
Washington University is in St. Louis.
Calling it now, he’ll be the steal of the draft, possibly even the CJ Stroud of this draft
I don't see him panning out at the next level. It's unfortunate, because he seems like a great guy and he's fun to watch.
As a broncos fan I’m hoping they draft Penix (or McCarthy) but Penix is my favorite qb in this draft
This is the stat no one is talking about. 4-8 the season before Penix came. 2 years later made it to the championship. If nothing else this guy has the it factor where his teammates want to win for him, and that means a hell of a lot.
When Perna swears he won't make any "Penix" jokes and completely fails...can never trust you again Brandon. Having said that, still love you and your channel. Keep the Penix and your balls-deep away from my tight end.
The last time a team traded back for a QB in the first round it was the bills trading back for EJ manuel. It just doesn't happen.
UW fan here. It sounds stupidly obvious, but if he goes to the right team, he’ll thrive. Give him a O-line. Put him in a position to throw. He’ll make WRs better. Hes not a savior, hes not otherworldly. But if he gets a hardbitten team around him, he’ll thrive.
