  • In this video I describe my experience in changing the crank case sensor on our Hyundai Elantra.
    Changing this part because The car would stall Every once in a while at low RPM or when idling. Upon restart, the car would have really bad engine performance and the RPM gauge would be sitting at zero even if the engine was turning.
    Update one week later - the symptoms have gone away and the car is running perfectly.

    Thanks very much for posting. It was your title (FIX ZERO RPM WITH ENGINE RUNNING) that I was finally able to identify what my issue was. I changed the Crank Sensor and its been running perfectly for a week now. No more zero rpm or difficult starts

    Good video! My car is 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS, currently at 125k. About a month ago it wasn’t blowing cold air so I decided to use one of this refrigerant cans and accidentally put to much in the system. Had to take it to a shop so they evacuated the whole system, changed the expansion valve and refilled it. It didn’t seem to work cause a/c was working but not getting cold air as it should. Now I’m having this issue with my RPM at idle when the A/C is on. It also have this little noise coming from the blower motor, but it only seems to happen when idling. Car runs smooth, but at red lights or stop signs RPM goes down and it becomes shaky and then this noise from the blower motor comes out (it only happens when a/c is on).
    Also replaced the throttle body, coils, spark plugs, MAP sensor, PCV valve because of this rough idle, and right now IDK what else to do with this. Dealer was asking for $550 for just a diagnosis and I don’t trust them anymore, so I’m running out of ideas.

    My car 2013 Elantra would sometimes struggle to turn on. The lights were on but the rpm would go high around 2-3 and then hit zero. Or just go high to 2-3 and then go down to 0 and back up to 1 but it wasn’t as smooth as it should have been doing it. The First time it happened I took it to auto zone. so they can run the machine and hopefully it can rule out things like the battery, crank starter, etc. Everything came back clear and in good condition. It was starting to become a more frequent thing the whole rpm dilemma when I would turn on the car. I kept riding the vehicle for like a month or so like that. I took it to the dealership they had no idea. I did get the oil change (it was pasted due so I thought maybe it was just a problem with that plus I read a comment saying that was the problem with their car but nope!) it felt better once I turned on the car but the second time I turned on my car I knew it was still struggling when I would turn it on. I decided to do my research and I thought maybe I had to clean the throttle. But then my car turned off randomly at a red light. It turned back on thankfully but when I was driving the mph was working but my Rpm was at 0. I Looked into some videos and I wasn’t sure if it was the throttle or the crankshaft sensor. I was going to do both. The crank sensor goes for 80 in the auto zone and 20 in Amazon. However, it was going to take 4 days to get here and I couldn’t wait that long. I read the reviews on Amazon and some described exactly what happened to me happened to their Electra as well. so I knew it had to be the crankshaft sensor. I was so happy! I was able to have someone swap out the piece for me. It’s honestly a 4 min job and saves you so much money. In many places, it goes for 200 and up (without the piece) and about 75 and up (with you buying the piece yourself). Regardless I save a lot of money. Thank you everyone for your videos/comments!

    Having the same issues currently. Started with stalling while in park, then to stalling at stop lights. Then finally rpms would sit at 0 while driving. Check engine light finally came on and threw the p0335 crankshaft sensor. Putting in a new one tomorrow. Thanks to this video. Hope it works.

    Hi, great video! My RPM gauge goes down when I step on the gas and up when I let off. Could I have this sensor in backwards or are there two what could have been swapped? Thanks for any feedback!

      That really sucks Brandon. I would check the connector and make sure it is properly pushed in and you have good contact on all the pins. Use a bit of dielectric grease.

      Make sure the O-Ring has shifted when you insert it in.

    Is this the same for a Hyundai Accent you think? Having the 0 RPMs problem as well.

    • @cncbuss1
      @cncbuss1  Před 3 lety +4

      I would suspect it’s very similar with the accent. If the sensor is faulty, the computer gets “lost” and doesn’t know how to calculate rpm’s - therefore you get zero rpm showing until you turn off and restart the engine.

  • @mediaanarchy-captaino8961

    same problem, no codes, changed crank sensor, both cam sensores but still have the problem. when i drive like a granny the car drives like new but when you mash the throttle to pass or get on highway it chugs so bad it feels like an earth quake until you let up.

      @mediaanarchy-captaino8961 Před 5 měsíci

      @@matts531 yeah it was the crank sensor but you have to use a programmer if you have one or take it to a mechanic and have them "RELEARN" the crank sensor there is a manual procedure but its an impossible pain in the ass. just relearn it.

    Hi my 2013 Elantra sometimes goes to 0 RPM sometimes when stopped at signal and doesn't move when I press the gas pedal as if it's in limp mode. Do you know what might be the issue?

    • @cncbuss1
      @cncbuss1  Před rokem +1

      In my case, it was a faulty crank case sensor which was causing the engine's computer to send no signal to the rpm gauge. This might be the same problem occurring in your vehicle. Best of luck!

      @@everythingunwrapped well, in my case it cost the price of the part and that was it. I figured out how to change it on my own (watching a CZcams video )and it made my problem go away. Less than $100 if memory serves correctly.

    Car turns on fine. While the car is in motion the car will loose revs while foot is on gas pedal. I have to step off the gas pedal and then step on it again and it picks up again.
