    Thank you for explaining it correctly. The older pieces of gear had to a ton of LPF to keep the primitive tech from sounding bad. Guitarists today think those chips were magical or had 'analog warmth' because because the engineers at the time designed _around_ their shortcomings. The same is true of the Boss CE-2, TR-2, BF-2 etc; the magic to the sound is layer upon layer of filtering.

    I think I actually still have this pedal put up somewhere! I’m going to search for it, it’s really a great delay pedal. I bought it from a guy for $20 that lived down the road from me.

    And to say that this pedal and the DM-2W sound so close to tape delay it a slight bit hard to tell the difference except for the pitch qualities. My favorites along with the DD-3 and SDE-3000.

    One of the better DM-2 demos out there 👍👍 do you know which chip this one has? 3005 or 3205? The 3005 is supposed to oscillate easier and if this is a 3205 it does a great job at it!

    Leon Todd what would you consider the ultimate always on delay for dirty sounds? Like if you could only have 1 to use for rhythms and leads what would it be

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  Před 4 lety

      I gravitate towards the "Deluxe Mind Guy" (Memory Man) and "BBD" (DM-2) style delays in the Axe-Fx, so if I had to choose a stand alone pedal to do that I'd probably go with a Boss DD-20 or a Memory Man with Tap Tempo.

    How does the DM-2W compare? People seem to fetishize older Boss pedals over the newer ones, but maybe there's a reason for that?

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  Před 4 lety +2

      You can get longer delay times which is cool, but AFAIK it's more or less a 1-1 replica. Will have to try do a comparison.

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  Před 4 lety +1

      Oh boy...
      With gear available at the time? It would have to be a W/D/W setup with 3 cabs and some kind of Boogie for pristine cleans and smooth leads (Mark IIC+ or Studio Pre) and an ADA MP-1 for the hot rodded Marshall rhythms.
      With current gear the Axe-Fx III more than covers everything I'd ever need.
