I just started stretching my daughters natural hair with a blow dryer after years of avoiding it. Her hair was full of stubborn fairy knots so I started stretching it and trimming between her protective styles.
By watching your channel I decided to just blow dry her hair with just a heat protectant. Her hair was so soft!! I used the lowest setting, small sections and took my time. There is such a focus on products that it was liberating to take a step back and use less. I applied a leave in afterwards because her hair was going into braids but the results were so soft and manageable. Her hair wasn’t sticky, or dried out.
Even though we all don’t do silk presses-it is good to see good techniques demonstrated. I love how gentle you are with your clients.
What heat protectant do you use?

@@snoodysnoody8118 I think it also has to do with the blow dryer. I recently got the Revlon brush blow dryer-huge difference!! It doesn’t fry the hair.
I blow my hair out every other week and I use medium heat. I have thick hair and I always felt like the less heat you use in the blow dryer the longer it takes to dry and they're brusing you have to do.

I just had a big chop, almost got all of my old box dye color cut off, it's like a chin length bob, and hopefully next cut i can finally get rid of all of it so my hair can flourish fully, you made me care less about the length and as much as possibly about the health and condition of it, and somehow i mind less and less the fact that i am greying early since my teens and start just not caring about that at all, i am so glad i find you and for how much you thought me and keep teaching me!

When she talked about putting spritz on the hair before putting heat to it, it brought me back to the 90s and early 2000s styles that were hard and crunchy 😂 I used to get my relaxed hair crimped and curled and those styles would last a month if I let them lol

We use to do "straw curls" in middle school in the early 2000s. The Pump it Up was always in deck

I wish I knew someone with your skills in the DMV to camouflage my stress spot, which is my crown, to style/care for my hair. Luckily I can cover it up for now. Great job!

I've had this since 4th grade. My mom took me to the doctor and they said it was stress. I still have it and I've been natural for a few years and my hair is flourishing but I can't grow out the spot 😭 But when I was in 9th grade my mom use to put vit E pills on it and it actually grew out I'm doing that now with peperment oil too. 🤞🏽

@@ArounDaWayGirl83 I literally just started like a week ago. But peperment oil is really strong and feels like it's stimulating my scalp.. But as I mentioned, when I was in high school I used to get vitamin e gel tablets break them open and put it on the spot and that was the first and only time I can remember it growing out. Mine comes out from the root too.
I lost the hair in my crown and my mom would cut open vitamin E pills and massage my scalp. It worked.
@@ArounDaWayGirl83 Could also be internal. Make sure you’re getting enough iron, protein, and vitamin D. I was deficient in all of these when my hair was falling out.

Yes so now I'm basically doing a 'big chop' once a year and I hate it. My hair will be sooo healthy/bouncy/pretty/full etc.. and then out of nowhere it's like someone cut in the middle of my head w kitchen scissors lol. But it gets very depressing at times.

My spot is in the crown of my head. I’ve literally big chopped and regardless of how well I take care of my hair and keep up with trims and deep conditioning that part just always seem to either grow really slow in comparison to rest of my hair or breaks eventually. I literally keep my hair in a short bob to medium bob length to avoid frustration. It’s not as noticeable when my hair is curly but baby the moment I get that silk press I’m stressed lol.

Don't big chop anymore because your entire head is not the problem. You may need to just add a layer that accommodates the breakage at the crown

Great video as always, I learn something new every time. I’m happy you stated about not spraying every section before flat ironing because that’s something I had a huge problem with in cos. school. 👏🏾 I actually had a floor instructor force us to spray each section with an oily serum AND and light holding spray. I hated that method so much and so did the clients. They hated the amount of product in their hair and most importantly, the hair wasn’t as flowy and nice not to mention the added time spent. So yes, thanks again for all of the free game💛
I personally love shorter bangs. In my opinion this hairstyle ages her quite a bit. But I love your soothing voice and explanation as always and if that hairstyle is what she wanted then that’s perfect.
