If Splatoon was made for 16+, I think Salmon Run would have looked as dark as this. Imagine in Overtime it's not normal Salmonids who are coming after you, no.. it's the mutated bodies of Octolings and Inklings who ended up lost at sea who follow you around trying to get help or to drag you into the sea as well to become one of them, the mutated salmonid Octoling/Inkling zombies
I mean we have something similar in Ocarina of Time, where the lore states, that horror kids are children that got lost in the lost woods
Splatoon horror AUs are my fave thing
that wouldn't just be 16+ it wouldn't be splatoon at that point because it doesn't fit with the theme of the game smh
@@mochiboycal wouldn't fit with the theme of the game? Have you even read all the Splatoon lore? Octo Expansions part especially. The fact Tartar was going to destroy the world using a hyper blasting laser containing the bodily fluids and DNA of blended test subjects says enough about how dark Splatoon lore can get

Kaia mutating into that horrid creature, mixed in with the horrific cries of the late crew in grizzco tapes 4 make this one of my fav analog horrors.
I noticed something when we where are part where the other inkling fell into the water, the part where she Says “[unintelligable] mom” sounds like she says “I want my mom” not really lore pertinent but still really fucking disturbing.

Oh man, this makes the idea of salmonlings terrifying. Honestly, salmonlings being mutated abomintions makes much more sense then them just existing soley because they would be a cool player character.
I honestly feel they would be Just the most illegal And deformed breed of Warrior salmonids, Having long flat fins for limbs ( Example the Spongebob background fish maybe ) And a humanoid body With still intact salmonid heads instead of well, Humanoid or inkling And Octoling heads
If you look at the horrorboros you can see that they have two yellow antenna like things on their head, and if you look at Kaia you I’ll see she has two yellow hair things. I think Kaia was mutated into the horrorboros and you can still see where her hair used to be.
Idk why but the phrase “manual pharynx splitting” reminded me of a sea creature called the sarcastic fringehead, which can unhinge its jaw, I know jaw isn’t the same as pharynx, but it was just something to note

I had a thought.
The co-worker that was threatened had been told to have been missing TEAMMATES. The plural, not the singular. So Kaia wasn't the only one who went missing. Like you had said in the video, her story covered up the baller story, and my original thought was that the teammate in the baller had been rescued. But when I looked at a certain image (21:01), you can see a silhouette of the worker's hat. There was no inkling. It's likely that the worker in the baller had died.
so it was (possibly) Grizzco’s fault all along? They just use youth inklings as their workers just to make a profit and without admitting their biggest secrets to the public? Even tried covering up the actual reality of the missing inkling despite being obvious that she’s dead already?
Idea: king salmonids are actually created by grizzco, and the reason they’re so rare is that they need YOU to collect the golden eggs for the process that transforms inklings and octolings into these hybrid creatures

If it can mutate an inkling, it can mutate salmonids
You do not recognize the bodies in the water.
We need more video game analog horrors that are actually set in-universe rather than any of the haunted game nonsense

the things I would do for a Sonic analog horror where the fact that Shadow was lab made was more relevant and scary by using laboratory and maybe even hospital visuals since Maria was sick and stuff ( idk my Sonic brainrot is getting to me )

The phrase “I’m Re- 2’s friend” kinda implies 2 *is* Ren imo. Like they were gonna say “I’m Ren’s friend”
It’s interesting that she could have been turned into a Horrorboros, because the Horrorboros sounds very different from the other two Big Run bosses. The Cohozuna sounds like your typical roar, and Joe sounds like a rock and roll yell, but still kind of a roar.
The Horrorboros though… it sounds like agonized screaming, or something (or someone) in pain. If Kaia truly has been mutated into a Horrorboros, then maybe those screams are her writhing in agony, even after her presumably dying due to the experimentation… a chilling thought.
I wish Analog horror was less about horror and more about De Blob 2 on wii

It wasn't peace @5:36 - It was 'Rest in Piece' like a ' *Piece* ' of something. It could be intentionally to show how poorly made/ janky the early Microsoft windows movie maker was back then, but it just stuck out to me
I'm surprised that no one ever mentioned how Horroboros and Megalodontia's roars sound oddly human in nature, this may be another clue to Kaia's fate.
17:14: at this moment i don't know if it's kaia's friends or some random inklings or octolings or something whatever it is, in this scene we heard that she was being punched by someone, and then put her into the baller then throw it into the sea and flow away.
I don't know, but if you had heard this scene, here is my theory, the theory is that she knows what's going on about kaia's missing, but someone in her team either is two or Ren or someone else? Idk, shut her down and then throw her into the sea, it's like they are trying to cover the case, by throwing her into the sea and pretend that nothing is going on, they are trying to cover it, and they knew what are they doing, by throwing her into the sea alone because she knows too much, they are the part of the crime scene of grizzco industries and it is mess up!!
So, how do you think about my theory?

it could have been a different crew/crew member in reference to the body found in the egg basket, which means there was probably another incident they just cleared up.
God this series is so well made, rarely does any kind of media get me all emotional but this one had me tearing up and stuff, especially when the baller inkling made that plea to her mom. That hit so much harder than I feel like it should've
At 5:47 I can Kaia in the background because I’m skipping on youtube and because the skip makes half the video brighter, I can see her. I think that might be why the text is cut like that.

I remember seeing a few theories around while reading dumb youtube comment sections about King Salmonid's being formerly other creatures, like Inkfish. When you mentioned it in this video, I just had to stop and remember that. When thinking about it, something like this always seems to scare me most. Loss of humanity is one of my favorite topics to explore in fiction and horror specifically, as it just tickles a little part of my brain that gives me all these wacky and weird ideas to ponder on. Something like this would be an interesting route to take for this series, and I'm looking forward to see if Jerm does take this pathway.
Anyways, amazing analysis! Still freaking love the Grizzco Tapes. Can't wait to see more on this!

Finally, a analog horror of my favorite game!
20:02 an example of this was the last words recorded on the CVR (cockpit voice recorder) of PSA flight 182, which were “mom, I love ya.” Spoken by the captain.
in the game, mr grizz wanted the eggs to build a rocket to bring mammals back on top after he saw everything being ruled by marine life (he gets stopped but im assuming this is before the canon story event happened)

Ok now here me out I have a theory here , what if kaia was kidnapped by a salmonoid that had the fur goo on it and it dragged her into the see and she mutated into one of those fur things or she was injected with something that when she gets in contact with water the salmonoid part of her which was injected fully takes over just like the fur goo/ ink
Here’s an idea, what if Grizzco is experimenting and mutating inklings and octolings into mammal like beings? We know that’s what Mr. Grizz was planning to do in Splatoon 3, trying to bring back the mammals as the dominant species of earth again, maybe this was before Mr. Grizz started using the fuzzy ooze?

I've worked for grizzco before and saw that event the dragging i called code red and retreated to base.
23:28 i think that Warabi actually was going to call 2 Ren, seeing as how he says "I'm Re- 2s friend", the statement "I'm Ren's friend" would make more sense grammatically. also as Warabi seems way more laid back with giving information, it wouldn't make sense for him to be a former Grizzco worker as there are very strict NDAs and Grizzco keeps an eye on fired employees

27:00 Maybe the reason the family is convinced Kaia is dead is because a decoy body was recovered as a cover-up for the muttation? I wouldn't put it past Grizzco in this series to take a lookalike, kill her, and use her as false evidence.
For the different pronouns: Maybe Kaia is gender nonconforming.
And finally:
Perhaps the reason Kaia's case is the one with the most publicity is either because:
-Grizzco has been finding teenagers with no families to use this on and miscalculated about Kaia
-Perhaps Kaia is just the most convenient rallying-point, the most interesting missing person, the one everyone agrees did nothing to deserve this. The media is focusing on her and kind of skimming over the other victims because she's likeable/a bit of a symbol for all of them/interesting.
