    Charlie Day was an IFC promo announcer before Sunny began. I used to use an mp3 of him narrating an IFC promo for Do the Right Thing as an intro to music from Do the Right Thing for the internet radio station I used to run, so I cheered when he grabbed the Do the Right Thing Blu-ray because of that old IFC promo.

    My heart skipped a beat when he picked up Punch Drunk Love. What a phenomenal film. I absolutely love how incredibly off the rails it starts to get in the back half, because that's love, right? When you're really in the thick of it, you'll do insane things, and it feels as though the world itself bends to meet you in your insane pursuits.
    It also set up PTA's absolute best film, still to this day "There Will Be Blood".

    So many incredible titles. We could all spend hours naming & talking about "the best films" in the Criterion collection, I'll just briefly mention CURE by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, one of the most powerful and unique horror-thrillers which was previously harder to find until Criterion released it. I also kind of appreciate Charlie honestly mentioning that he hadn't seen Barry Lyndon until recently. I also watched Barry Lyndon for the first time recently on my CC bluray, and as certain films can seem intimidating or daunting to some viewers it's refreshing and can be important to admit to not having seen certain films yet. Looking forward to Fools Paradise and new season of Sunny. Much love and respect to Mr. Charlie Day

      @@jekw23 There are videos that explain the techniques and points about the story, but ultimately it's not really didactic. So many films now hit you over the head telling you how to feel about them but Tokyo story is remarkably not judgemental, people are flawed and hurt those they love and plans often don't work out how they want and that's life and there's nothing you can do about that.... not a very now message.

    • @jekw23
      @jekw23 Před rokem

      @@cliffarroyo9554 thanks. I’ve watched a few videos on it. Seems most people have a personal or emotional connection with it.
      I think I need to watch it with no preconceptions rather than watching it with a “this is the best film ever” frame of mind. Suspect I’ll get more from it if I don’t pre judge the movie.

Be grateful for the time you get to spend with your loved ones on your way towards that inevitability. Accept your and their flaws for you share the same destiny. Finally be at one with the flow of time itself and float gently (if a bit solemnly) on it's waters , like a small fishing boat drifts quietly down the river. Show understanding.

    For us physical collection lovers when will we see blu rays of always sunny?... I see a lot of fakes online and also no uk region dvds and I just want to own the full collection physically especially since streaming services have taken to omitting some of my favourite episodes.
    I have money... WHY DON'T YOU WANT IT? 😟

    Barry Lyndon. When I first saw the opening scenes I thought I'd be bored to tears. After finishing my first viewing, I was haunted. Now it's my fave Kubrick joint.

    Haven't seen a single one of these, so I have a lot to look forward to. This why I like finding out what actual actors, directors, writers and artists watch and read instead of just relying on the general public who use sites like Reddit and IMDB.

    I love how most of the movies that he grabbed are from the highest shelf that he can barely reach. Such a low-key Charlie moment.

    It's too bad his film is absolutely awful, literally one of the worst new movies I have seen in years. Funny enough it was heavily riffing off Hal Ashby's Being There - imagine just about the worst version of that film you could imagine and you have Fool's Paradise.
    Great picks of course and I've always loved him on It's Always Sunny.
