      Aslan Tech you clearly don’t understand the uk government. This isnt anything like the American presidential debates. The public don’t get to choose which of these candidates become the PM- they are all from the same party and the party members choose who becomes PM. So yeah this debate is pointless- if anything it puts even less trust in the public.

    • @aslantech52
      @aslantech52 Před 2 lety +7

      @@ReverseSideArms I am British and I do understand the UK government. I dont know which part of what I said suggested that I thought this was a general election or that the people had a say. I am well aware that this is a party election and that is actually precisely why there is a point of this debate because you have to remember there are hundreds of conservative MP's that are trying to decide who to vote on and these debates will certainly influence that decision. Also I disagree about your point that this makes the public trust the government less because imagine they didnt hold these televised debates, we would know nothing about these candidates and about the candidate that may potentially become the next leader of this country, these debates are actually useful in that sense.

And Bankers have this not so great philosophy: keep the profits, socialize the losses. It is important that the voters realize exactly who they are voting for and how their background and policies will influence their day-to-day living. But given the excessive dominance of money in western politics, I am sure the next UK PM would be also about transferring more wealth to the already rich. The UK and US are two countries where this transfer can no longer be reversed, as the rich own the country, justice system and the parliament.
