A-Frame Goose House Milled And Built In Two Days

- This week I started building our new Solar system mount but at very short notice some geese came up for sale. We have wanted geese for a while now due to there diet. chickens really retire grain feed and it isn't sustainable in these uncertain times. Geese can get by just fine foraging on grass and plants so for us they seem like a great addition to the small holding. We now have sheep geese and chickens. And they all have lovely houses.
I grew up with geese. You will never, ever, ever , ever in your life encounter an animal so small that shits so much. Truly astounding.
I don’t know my kids were pretty prolific
My dad grew up on a farm. He always says "like shit through a goose". Ha!
lol...CZcams needs a laugh button...
😂🤣 it has a laugh button. Their just harder to use.
The more sh!t means more nitrogen 😄
I read the entire Ryan’s czcams.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan’s Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan’s Shed Plans.
The Goose Chateau is certainly luxurious compared to your old tent Kris! Look how far you have come. Brilliant!
Right?!
He really has come a long way!
@@Richie8a8y Hasn't it been an absolute pleasure to witness what Kris' determination and hard work has accomplished! Amazing 🥳
Not a chateau though ... there isnt a single chimney on it.
More like shat-eau once the honkers move in
@@vennic 🤣👍
Being stuck in an apartment, it's a vicarious bliss to see you build in the countryside! Thank you for sharing!
Maybe get a few Bonsai trees ... and "build to scale"? And if you add some miniatures to the diorama it also gets a life of its own. All you need then is a bunch of "forest noises" from CD or elsewhere ...
@@Muck006 My flat is filled with plants. It's not the same as being outside.
@@artfx9 It isnt about the plants ... but rather about "the joy of building something out of wood". I have created several buildings in "miniature size" out of wood ... and it is quite nice.
Also: having a "scene" / "landscape" is quite different to "having lots of plants". They are "your scale", but with Bonsai and miniature scale it is different, because you can allow your mind to roam and create "adventures" which the "inhabitants of your buildings" have. "A potted plant" is just "a potted plant".
Damn Kris. Two days! You are making my life very difficult with the wife. I can hear her now. “well Kris built a geese house in two days...........” 🤣🤣 Nice job. 👍🏻
Kris I honestly am amazed by the amount of change that we can all see within you, from the day that you arrived upon the land that you bought to now has been nothing more than just epic. For a while there I thought you might be going alone for the journey that you was on but then you and Dot found each other and it's very clear for all to see that this young lady is definitely the one for you. Since you got together it's certainly showing that you are now back on track with your goals and moving forward at a greater pace than you had for a while. I have been watching your channel since the very early days of when you purchased the land all the way to now and honestly it's amazing to see the changes that you have made and I can't wait to see what's next for the both of you. As for the A-frame I agree you certainly could have done with that at the beginning of your journey it would have been luxury especially when you was out in ALL the elements sleeping in that rickety tent you had, it alway makes me laugh when you hear about home builders who have spent a winter or two in a caravan etc while building their new house and winging about how crappy it was. They should have tried to survive the way you did then they would have something to moan about. Congrats buddy and keep the good work going you will both achieve your goals in the end that I am very certain of!!!
Thank you for such a lovely comment Simon.
Kris beware young goslings can find it difficult to get out of water, at that age they will quickly drown. I did something similar for my goslings when they were a little older than yours left them to it whilst we went out for the afternoon came home to find they had splashed so much water out of the tub they could not get out, two very exhausted little goslings in the water the male holding his sisters head out of the water, what a little hero, god only knows how long he had been supporting her on his neck like that. We rushed them into the house wrapped them in old towels and placed them in a large cardboard box with a wrapped hot water bottle covered with hay, come fist light they felt well enough to get out of the box and wreck the kitchen. Moral of the story make sure they have a safe way out.
I was thinking the same thing. More important the goslings can get out than being able to get in.
Tool-obsessed Yank here. DeWalt or Makita _should_ sponsor you! Anyone that's followed your channel for any length of time knows you _really_ use your tools, they don't just sit around looking pretty. Best mark of confidence a tool manufacturer could hope for. And the geese are adorable. I suppose they'll stop sticking as a group as they get older and more familiar with the terrain. 👍️
Problem have new geese. Kris Harbour solution. A build a hand built Swiss Chalet with swimming pool. Legend!
I thought id lost you . I oddly couldn't see any of your recent videos in the last 2 years. I refound you . thank god
What a wonderful addition to your homestead. They will be so much fun to watch. Great job on the quick goose house build. I love it.
I like that Forklift arm conversion!
Kris, this was the first video of your I watched 5 months ago, I was so impressed by you and Dot back then. But since, I've watched all the videos you've made, in order. Dude! I cannot tell you how amazing your videos are and what a treat It has been.
Thank you.
How lovely the goslings are. We had them growing up, they do love a cuddle if they get used to it little. Makes it easier handling them when they’re grown up if you tame them early. Sit one on your palm with their legs dangling down and a hand securing their back, they love a stroke. If they feel secure they’ll like being held once they’re used to it. My dad would talk to them going ‘cheep cheep’ and they would follow him about if he spread his arms out and called them. If you have any builder’s buckets put a big rock in and fill up with water. Geese and ducks love to dunk their heads right in and have a slurp of water and wash their eyes. Refill them with a hose regularly, daily if you can. A pond, they’ll love. Their favourite munch is grain and flaked maize mixed up with some pellets. When they nest make 1m partitions between the nest spots at the back of the house. They are very fierce when broody! They make excellent burglar alarms and guard geese! Enjoy!
Awesome to have the skills to go flat-out on a build that needs strategic modifications on the fly. You are amazing!
Love that you never do things by half measures Chris, all in with everything you got is always the best way to go.
I remember those long days you did when you were in you're tent.
You come a long way since then well done Kris and Dot of course.
Well that looks lovely. You could put a row of them in a field with beds inside for guests.
Geese Glamping!👍😄
Wonderful job Kris, you two work well together. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm really enjoying watching your journey! These Geese have a mansion!
A quick build that is better than most people could manage in a week.
a week??? In my case it would be a month lol.
He makes it look so easy! Brilliant craftsman!
He has all the tools and materials available for the build.
As a german I would "nag" that it isnt using the traditional woodworking methods to connect the parts with each other ... and this can/will be unraveling the hut in maybe 10 years. The tarp will also become full of holes, so the waterproofing of the roof needs to be beefed up. Adding thickness to the roof / sides would also improve insulation, which could be great for very hot days and really cold winters.
Those geese will be living in a palace!
De Walt need to sponsor this guy he's everywhere now
This intro made me chuckle.
My guy is a complete construction site rolled into 1 man! 👏 💪 keep it up 👍
Best CZcams channel. Watch it most nights now. Inspirational and humble.
Looks like it's still pretty cool in your knack of the woods, its heat up here in Nagano Japan. I'm still slogging away at my glasshouse, should be ready right in time for mid-Summer (and next Winter). No 2 days builds for me. Take care of your body and health, lots of love to Dot, the cat and all your other critters.
Outstanding young man, The Royal Goose Glamping Chateaux is now open. What darlings they are. 💚💚👍👍🍀🍀🐈🕊
From the heart, what a truly lovely life you and Dot have together. I am so happy for you both, if not a bit envious. 🙏🏻
Can very much recommend a bit of sauerkraut with every meal (non-heated/pasteurised, preferably homemade) for hay/pollen fever of any kind.
Well thank you. I will be trying that.
@@LitoGeorge You're very welcome. Hay fever can be much more disabling than most realise, and this is by far what have helped me the most, almost to a degree where my quite severe allergies are almost gone.
@@Calmethar. That's good news, and if it works for me too, then it's a case of you are what you eat? I suffer from bad seasonal allergies since I was exposed to toxic poison a few years back and nothing has helped long term. I like the idea of fixing from within. Again, thank you!
@@LitoGeorge Indeed, it is ;-)
This channel totally reminds me of Tim and Sandra's channel Way out West and Tim's spin off channel Way out West Workshop even more. Feels very similar in style, content, ambitions. Love it!
I couldn't see any similarity at all. Maybe this is just a plug for another channel... ;-)
Nice to hear from your lady. Quite nice.
Fun video. Lots of work with happy geese.
I love how everything down to the goose house looks built to withstand a nuclear strike.
LUCKY DUCKS..AND THE GEESE ARE LUCKY TOO.
Look forward to showings Never fail to surprise
This is GOD MODE building Kris.... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
I came across your stuff by accident and have been working my way through all your videos and enjoying them especially the hydro, wind, and solar power.
“No fucking about” 😂😂👍🏼
😂😂
"that's how you do it" I love it! great work
that goose house is very well built. the geese will be well at home and safe from foxes and other preditors. good roof to use down there for both rain and snow load. thanks for sharing....
Amazing job on the goose house. Lucky geese.
Great start to the weekend. Thanks!
That did my heart good. I love how you treat your animals.
This channel just gets more and more interesting, you're an impressive guy Kris, well done again !
Goose Glamping! Love it. 😊😊

Very posh, and the goslings are very cute. 💖

Kris Harbour really enjoyed the time with you and Dot on the farm! If time permits it would be nice if you could get another video or two out each month. But if what we is just one per month it's wonderful seeing what you are able to share. Thanks and May you continue to experience good health, growth, success and prosperity
have you not noticed that it's *WEEKLY* videos?

What a wild goose chase you went on! End result looks fantastic and the geese look well-pleased!
Loving seeing the blue sky and fine weather. Happy goslings, happy life all thanks to you both. Awesome.
Good morning,Kris, I have to say I have enjoyed every minute of each video that I have watched of yours. Keep up the great work and sincerely all the best.
All the best from Southern Highlands NSW Australia
SOMEONE from Dewalt tools needs to give you a sponsorship -- they really are some of the best.
Hands down my favourite channel.
You need one Border collie, he’s gonna take care of geese and sheeps
Can we talk about this man's physical strength at the start of the video we see him lift the frame since that's solid wood it wieghs a lot it's really impressive for one person to lift
Makes me so happy to see you in ear protection these days! Keep up the work bud.
Those are some happy-ass geese, and they’re very fortunate to have the nice home you made for them!
Great job Kris, & Dot, a wonderful addition to the family. Can't wait for the new pond dig. 😎
What a wonderful ride this is! Thank you for the video.
Dots a Trojan,you make a good couple.
Great goose house.
This is such great inspirational content. This has always been a dream of mine since I can remember. I'm saving up to follow your footsteps.
Lovely to see you again Dot and Kris! Hope your lovely cat and all of your livestock are doing well!
Really nice. Sure your new geese appreciate your efforts. Be safe.
Hey Kris, Leigh from New Zealand
Great work with the A frame
Cheers
The goose house is adorable. I wish I could hire you to make a structure for my cats in the backyard. What a treat that would be.
Here in the US they'd consider that a Tiny House for people :). Those geese are living in a beautiful area, they'll have a happy and great time there. Well done, looks fantastic!
Kris realy nice .-I realy injoy it.
Great.!!!!!
Can’t wait to see the pond
We're all waiting for a message from the clouds asking you for an "Ark"....cheers...rr Normandy, FRa.
A window and some light they certainly would appreciate!
Only in house at night!!!!!
At least its only hay-fever now, not the multiple allergies you had in the beginning, you are a lot healthier now, love the videos keep them coming xx
Beautiful shelter for the birds. I'm sure they love it
Great video
Love it! Job well-done! The little geese are beautiful!

Super cute, bravo, Sir!
As usual! fantastic job - work ethic second to none. Thanks for sharing, love watching your life together!
Great job Kris done in record time. 👍 try to get hold of good quality black seed oil cold-pressed. Works miracles for hay fever.
Goose who's coming to dinner😁👍
Howdy Kris!! You might want to put some vents at the very top of the gables for when it gets hot for ventilation! Geese are very good watch dogs!! Congrats on your feather babies!
Good thought - I was thinking more about what will inevitably come out the bottom, lol
Maybe a window they could watch from?
Lovely quick build mate. Wonderful you can just mill the cladding when you need it too. I’m liking the dewalt collection too, I love mine! I find the nail gun a bit nicer to use on ‘bump feed’ especially when you’re trying to hold stuff in place at the same time. Thanks as ever for the video mate it always makes my Friday! 😀👍
Very nice build! For our geese we had a very heavy gauge screen door so geese could get fresh air during nice summer nights. Also had a concrete pond for water which was wonderful. It was difficult to clean so if there could be a way of opening up a side with a way to drain for easy cleaning that would be a fabulous addition for the geese. Love your videos!
Cute city!
Great job, Kris and Dot! Those geese are very cute indeed!!
What’s good for the goose is good for the CZcamsr.
Lucky geese! I love the rustic live-edge cladding.
Well done.
Thank you Chris and Dot! All your hard work is paying off, you have got a mixed farm now and the geese look cute!
Great job, I’m sure they will be very happy in that beautiful house.
That nail gun looks like good fun!
Omg they are so cute. It’s very impressive your building work, I would love to be able to work with wood the way you do. That wooden cabinet you made is beautiful. If you stopped doing your current vocation you could definitely take up carpentry and make bespoke wood items.
I used to always call my red puffy eyes 'hay fever' too
That’s the strongest goose house I’ve ever seen. Keep up the great work, love your channel!
I has twelve geese & i believe it was just after Christmas when i started getting eggs,i would put the collar on my incubator & get some young out of my eggs,i liked making massive omelets also. You both are in for a nice treat & they are awesome security, louder than dogs lol.
Now we get to watch you build them a little pond to play in
