I am literally 16 years old, but i am so glad that Serious Sam The First Encounter was the first game in my life. I played it at age of 5, and have been playing up until today. Amazing series of game and just greatest soundtrack of all time.

Manulel Nah not really. I played all Sam Games a few days ago. The Sam 3 Enemies spam their attacks while the First Encounter Enemies are very dumb and Slow. The MK Grenade launcher is also almost good as the Devastor. Btw Pyramid has only like 700 Enemies, while the last Level of Sam 3 has like some thousand

But.... Mental difficulty IS hard difficulty but with half invisible enemies. Besides hard isn't actually 'hard' all you need is good strafing, Know most of the good secrets with weapons n' shit. And finally knowledge of areas and enemy spawns. Go watch videos on mental difficulty games, or if that doesn't help. Hell learn to rocket jump like a champ and beat the game amassing a measly play time and kills, as most arena like areas can be skipped by a simple rocket jump or two. Hope this helps and good luck.
@Andrei Oroian Man I just finished it on normal. Was insanely hard and I'm a veteran player who does games on hardest setting. I can't imagine actual hard or serious difficulty.
I finished the First Encounter on serious last year or so, and really all you need is A LOT of quicksaving and a lot of persistance. Hell you will learn how to fight the enemies while in serious difficulty like this (i also had some playthroughs to teach me but don't mind that)
Does anyone else think that the second half sounds extremely close to a tune in the original Conan the Barbarian? I love it so much for that very reason.
Without screams and boss it feels incomplete. You don't feel increasing of dynamic in fight at the same time as music gets faster and faster. Still, this game has one of the most powerful soundtracks.

So just played serious sam 1 first time with a friend due on serious as my first play through, Holy shit this level. i had 3 a while ago but forgot bout the series and came back to it, best experience in a while
HD Version of First Encounter sometimes doesn't play it for some reason, happened to me with a few pals. Playing through the same section in Second Encounter HD actually played the music.
It's not complete without the sound of the cannon being shot in sync with the beat

Even though Mental is Hard difficulty, it still requires one to beat the game on Serious difficulty, which is (obviously) harder than Hard though.
