@T Citation needed, if you please. I just searched for that and it appears that Congress reduced some of the funding in 2012 but reauthorized and funded the Act in mid-2019, with a "certain Republican President" (phrase added by me to avoid naming He Who Shall Not Be Named) signing the bill. I also found this little tidbit: "Beginning in 2016, the Treasury Department withheld payments to the FDNY World Trade Center Health Program established by the Zadroga Act. New York City was using the funds to pay the Department of Health and Human Services, which was not the intended purpose for these funds. By the time this was revealed in 2020, around $3.7 million had been withheld from the FDNY program." So, before anyone starts pointing fingers across the aisle, check under your own seat for trash. @@deaconstjohn4842 I think I kind of knew that goin in but expected the plot to hold up and it did. Something that does bother me is that right before the collapse, Nick cages character didn't even know anything happened to tower 2. I know they were getting their gear ready to go up in tower 1, but the south tower was hit at 9:03 and collapsed just before 10 am. So no one in that time period said anything to them on those walkie talkies about the second plane hitting? More so, that other crew of guys he talked to that were going over there sounded like they didn't know what was going on either. I guess they wanted this collapse scene to be surprising in a way even though we already know what's gonna happen. Cause during my first watching of it I was waiting for someone to say something about the second plane hitting and then this scene happened.

It’s 22 years and I still get chills just remembering that horrific day. When everyone ran for safety, the firefighters and police ran towards the danger. Some of them knew they weren’t going to make it home but they honored their sworn duties to protect and serve. To all those who survived and those who didn’t, thank you for your service and your sacrifice. You are all American heroes and you will never be forgotten! 🇺🇸
Yep, you can listen to the FDNY radio from that day, at several points different firefighters mention they think the building(s) could/would collapse. And most of them were inside the buildings still moving up when they said this.
I'm French living in France. I thought this year I would not think about 9/11 and yet, after 22 years, this event is still as harrowing, evil and disturbing as ever. No wonder America and the world changed so much after that day.
The few who survived described something no one has ever experienced. Because of the double tube design with sprung floor, the exterior acted as a chimney and all the energy went straight down. Total ke of each tower was about 2.5 kilotons to floor 10 (pile of debris height after collapse). As each floor hammered into the one below, it pulverised everything but paper into dust. Those in the lower levels heard a rumble that grew louder into a roar. The floor beneath their feet began to vibrate, then hop, then jump, then violent jump up and down meters at a time, tossing them about like beans in an empty can. People in the nearby metro area felt this through the ground. There was little left of the contents. All of that dust cloud? Office furniture, phones, desks, conference tables, ceiling tiles, concrete....and people. Ground to dust by the forces at hand. This why few bodies. Pulverised.
@@donjuandonjuan it’s more than a theory you can see the explosives going off as the building collapsed, how more obvious can it be. Go look at a few controlled demolitions if you’re still too blind to see it.

What's really disturbing here is how many of these rescue workers were actually lingering in the lobby, and how few of them knew the South Tower had already collapsed. Even one of the chiefs standing right outside the doors hadn't heard the evacuation order and had no idea the helicopters above had reported that several floors were actually 'glowing red' 10 min before it came down. The higher ups tried to make it seem like the rescue teams chose to remain, but really most just didn't know what was happening.
Guys there in the mall under the towers. There's no smoke plus its gonna collapse as it does. They get trapped OK there's no. Light BC there under ground!

@JR R The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, were the tallest building in the world at the time. The tallest American building at the time was Sears Tower (now named Willis Tower) in Chicago.
Can only imagine the sheer terror as McLaughlin realized in the few short seconds they had that One of the towers was collapsing right on top of them. To even have the ability to process that their best and likely only shot was to try and get to the elevator shafts is amazing. It's almost surely the only reason he and Jiminez survived to tell the tale.
Even though him and the other 2 who initially survived had the building literally fall in on them, I don't believe they knew the whole thing had come down. I watched a documentary on Jimeno's story, and the retired paramedic who helped dig him and McLoughlin out, and when Jimeno was pulled out his first words were "where are the buildings?" I think they thought it was only a partial collapse. That would also explain why they thought help would come so quickly, dispite them being at the bottom floors, they figured it would be a quick rescue because there wasn't that much ground to cover to get them out. But yes absolutely, McLoughlin was there when the first terrorist attack in the 90's happened at the WTC, and him studying that attack, and how to evacuate the buildings and where to take shelter saved thier lives.
@@GosieKin no. The 2 retired Marines found them, and lead a firefighter and retired paramedic to them and continued to search. The retired paramedic's story is also interesting, he was only there to help because his sister left him a voicemail saying "I just know you're down there helping". He was confused by that because he had retired because he had a drug issue iirc. That voicemail put the idea to go help into his head and so he just walked down in his old uniform.

As a newyorker when the tower fell it sent a huge wave throughout the tri-state . All the way to Jersey Brooklyn and queens . Like a freight train mid air. Just roooaaar ! They did a great job with this scene although I’m sure that day it was louder. The final thud gave a boom shake. Like a short earthquake.
Not surprising, each floor was about an acre in size and I think in one doc it said it took like 40ish seconds for the tower to come down, so imagine at the least 110 acres (though probably more) of glass concrete and steel among other things coming down full speed. Wild.
We all know that it was such a terrible, terrible tragedy. So many of us watched this on TV. I never imagined what that must have sounded like for those in the vicinity. What a scary moment to hear that come down.

I wasn't born until 6 years after the attack, but it hurts my heart to see this. Rest in Peace to all the 2,977 people who lost their lives that day...
Gotta say, this movie aged well. It's a good reminder to newer generations of what happened that day-- not anything about the motives or questions-- but how a city came together. As a New Yorker, there was a year or two after 9/11 that truly made anyone you saw in the streets family...It's sad where we are nowadays.
It is.. So sad.. Just to think of the people who was setting in there house on September, 10th, 2001. Not knowing their life would be ended the next following day..
Fires on the upper floors wouldn't cause building collapse- it was a deliberate, controlled demolition that took innocent lives that day. You are outnumbered by comments on this thread AND by logic, physics
As a retired,25 year firefighter the calls I went to, we all go to were just part of who we are. I never once thought about the danger, or hesitated. It became all too natural in a way. It was several years into my marriage, when I had two little kids that my wife talked with me about her fear, the kids fear when the alarm rang. It is a strange thing, to instinctively run towards danger, while others run away. Those first responders, on that day, reacted from the core of who they were,.. heroes. From the movie "Band of Brothers" " Grampa, were you a hero? No, but I served in the company of heroes"
The only reason is time. No one suggested Titanic shouldn’t have been made, because in 1997 there were only a few people who actually remembered the real event. With 9/11 the vast majority of people still remember that day, hence why there is a backlash to movies like this. But I’m sure if a Hollywood movie comes out about 9/11 in the 2070’s or 80’s, everyone will be sitting there with popcorn and loving the experience.
The way he screams "Run! The elevator shaft!" gets me every time. I can't imagine being in a state of fear like that. I just don't think I'll ever come to terms with this day. America was never the same and probably won't be again.
Sad part is, most people just keep a ‘count’ of those who died that day and keep it that way. But, people are still dying till this day from cancer and other illnesses from working the rubble almost 20 years later and they go unnoticed.
Well to be fair many people are still dying from the effects of Nagasaki and Hiroshima today Oh not to mention the hundreds of thousands killed by America each year in bringing "liberation"
Family friends on my moms side lost 76 coworkers on 9/11, of which I was told that about 30 were close friends, one being the best man at the family friends wedding. Their 9/11 plaque sits on the wall above their tv in the living room, each time they moved it was the last item to come down, was held in the front seat, and the first thing put up in the new houses. The husband had a meeting that day that was supposed to conclude in tower 1 that after noon. It's heartbreaking to hear them talk about it.
Never noticed how much detail actually went into the set and background of this movie. If you look at some of the stores shown here, they're accurately placed as they were in the original WTC mall map
If you can't take Nick Cage seriously, that's your problem. Myself, i think his acting in this movie was A+. Sometimes i honestly even forgot it was him. Give the man credit when he deserves it.
This movie was cringe even when it first came out. WAY too soon, and just bad and cheap. Almost disrespectful. Nobody likes this since it was released on the first day. Take my word for it. We weren’t down with turning it into some stupid Nicholas cage entertainment circus show for money. It was hated at release, as it should remain.
Saw this is theaters. Never in my life have I ever seen so many cry. One of the most intense cinematic (based on reality) special effects I’ve ever seen.
@@tomfooIeryz Its because they needed information. If the booms were debris falling down the side of the building, running out would get them all killed. Once they realized it was a collapse, the best place to go is the building core. The strongest part of any building, at least the ones built to us codes, is the emergency stairs. They are built to resist fire, obviously, but they are also usually always concrete in taller buildings which makes them the strongest part of any floor.
The collapse seen from inside is absolutely frightening. they didn't know what was happening, a huge rumbling sound getting closer, the only thing they knew is that something very bad was going on. Thoses guys were talking to death without even knowing it...
In an interview I saw with Will Jimeno he said that Sgt McLoughlin must've thought a bomb was going off outside the lobby and to protect them from the blast he told them to run towards the shafts. Also, said the firefighters they saw just before were never recovered. They were pulled out around 8:30pm and 7am respectively. Will said he flat lined twice while at the hospital.

I too saw it live on tv with my own eyes. 9/11 never leaves your mind, as it is etched in my memory. So many people gone suddenly, and now even those first responders are suffering immensely from respiratory damage from that day. You could even see the smoke cloud in the upper atmosphere from outer space.
@@TeddyPerkins58I saw it hit live too. I was home sick from school trying to find something to watch. The same thing was on every channel except for MTV. They had a music video by an artist named Ja Rule - Do I Do on repeat as a message scrolled across the screen saying the station had been evacuated. At 1st I thought it was a movie. Then when I changed the channel and saw the same thing I thought the cable box was broken. Then I saw a plane coming into view that the news anchors hadn’t noticed yet. Then I saw the airplane hit… I sat there with the remote in my hand completely frozen. It took a couple of moments for me to realize what was actually happening. I changed the channel to one of the major news networks and they showed the impact from another angle. That’s when I realized it wasn’t a movie and that I just watched a lot of people die. Suddenly I didn’t feel sick anymore as my body filled with adrenaline. My parents were both in the military so all I could think of was I would have to move to my grandmothers house again like the last deployment, but this time would be worse. About an hour later my mom came flying through the door just before the towers collapsed. She was in total shock and so was I. We also learned about the pentagon. Another hour goes by and all the other kids were getting off of school buses because all the schools closed. I remember going outside and looking up and for the 1st time there were no airplanes. It was so quiet outside. A few hours later Jets flew over my house headed north and shook everything. Set off car alarms and all. Right behind them was Air Force 1 headed towards Andrews Air Force Base. It was on every channel for weeks. We eventually went back to school and tried to go back to normal. It just wasn’t the same.

Nic Cage wasn't Stone's first choice for that role. Originally, he wanted either Mel Gibson or John Travolta. Both turned it down. Kevin Costner was then briefly cast, but he dropped out.

I spotted his name on the South memorial pool in 2012 when I travelled there from the UK. I also seen other names I recognised like Dom Puzzulo, Betty Ong, and Kevin Cosgrove
A friend of my mother was a firefighter. He took off work this day. His crew was called in but by the time he arrived at work they were gone, he waited until they got back. They never returned. It's gut wrenching to hear this story and the fact people say it was fake is disgusting. The people who lost their lives deserve better. People are drawn straight toward conspiracy and this results in people calling this fake. Millions of witnesses from TV to people in NYC at the time. I honestly am just surprised how many idiots there are commenting here.
No one says it's fake and if they do then idk what to tell them you can literally watch it happen... what they do say is that it was planned or that ot was an inside job and after spending all that time looking for wmds that didn't exist that bush told me to look for I wouldn't doubt it to be honest
Ryan19812012 also I don't know if this matters but I don't feel like they can properly tell this and a proper visual level but to be fair I don't think anyone should fully relive that experience

@The Ringo & Monte Show i still haven't seen this movie, I had seen enough during 7th grade when it happened and my teacher brought in the TV and thats all we saw for the rest of the class day.
And to think that there are people out there that say, “Move on. This happened so long ago. Why is there a fuss every year.” It’s a shame how many only think about themselves.
Honestly, I don't hear people saying that. They're mainly just meming it because nobody really believes a plane took down the buildings. Even the architect claimed it can within stand a building hitting it. WTC7 is still in question for me, but nobody really knows the truth, just what we're told.

R.I.P to those 2.9k people who have died on that tragic day. 😞
I was at work in St. Louis that day and getting reports of a plane hitting the tower through the internet on my work computer. My co-workers went down to the lunch room and came back and told me to get to the TV. I watched those towers fall and I watched grown men cry. I knew right then and there that our world was changed forever. There were rumors that planes were falling out of the sky all over the US - next to federal buildings. I worked next door to one. I was so shook up I had to leave for the day. I came home to my wife, hugged her tight, and had a sweeping realization come over me how precious life was.
If your looking for a more accurate viewing as to how quick the collapse was, heres what i do. The film in order to accurately portray what the survivors said, gradually slowed the scene down because the adrenaline slowed everything down for them. So what i do is this: After the first boom, theres a rumble and then another boom, at that other boom change the speed to x1.25, Then when the scene of the cop turning his head with wide bulged eyes increase the video speed to x1.5. Next when you see the glass shatter, increase it to x1.75. Lastly, right before the line "run! The elevator shaft!" Either manually change it to x2 or if your on a mobile device simply hold your thumb down on the screen and keep it there for the remainder of the video, this will also add x2 speed easily. Its a lot of steps and you have to be quick about it, but you really get to see just how quickly it actually was.
Also I personally do this, but it is not really good for your ears But according to the survivors they mentioned how loud the collapse was, so I listen to this at or near max volume with headphones. Once again this is not something I'd recommend, but it also helps with getting the real full experience that they had.
I guess everyone still knows where he was and what he did when he got the news. I was 13 years old, school had just finished (I live in Germany, we got 6 hours time difference to NYC) and I visited a friend of mine. His sister came into the room and told us to turn on the TV. Didn't matter which channel, they aired it everywhere. I still remember that I thought this must be some kind of bad joke, or maybe a trailer for a movie or so. But the more and more I watched the news, i understood that this was totally real. I remember myself being stunned by those horrible pictures, turning around to my friend and saying something like "man, I can't believe what I'm just seeing". Next day in school, there was a strange atmosphere. Everyone was a bit introverted this day, still trying to understand what happened. Our teachers forgot about the schedule and lessons that day. Instead, we talked about the happenings. I guess that was helpful and important since everyone was struggling with this. Still today it feels strange when thinking about this day. Hope you guys in USA know that whatever kind of differences we may have, especially these days - Germany, the German government and the people here will stand by our friends when things are getting tough.
And we'll stand by u guys as allies we stand together and have each other's back we may be different but we're all the same USA and Germany will always be allies
I remember thinking, wow this is a terrible accident (because who would fly civilians into a building on purpose right?) Then i started learning about the religious fascism of Islam, and it all makes sense.
Thank you; your support really touches my heart. Funnily enough, I also thought I was hearing about a new movie that had come out, because my first clue that day was hearing other kids talk about it on the bus to school.
Swaggypiecat I mean, nobody from above the impact zone in the North Tower survived because the plane crash blocked off all the stairway access, and only 18 people from the South Tower made it down from above the impact zone and most of them were on the floors just above the impact zone, not the top floor which was the observation deck at any rate.
Here that. to think just ONE Story was an acre in size. It's like having 200 large high schools coming down right on top of you and ONE cubic yard of concrete weighs 1 ton.
It's crazy that this movie is five years after 9/11. Now the film will be 20 years old in two years and the disaster will be 25. Time does not pass in vain.

@@deaconstjohn4842 I think I kind of knew that goin in but expected the plot to hold up and it did. Something that does bother me is that right before the collapse, Nick cages character didn't even know anything happened to tower 2. So no one in that time period said anything to them on those walkie talkies about the second plane hitting? More so, that other crew of guys he talked to that were going over there sounded like they didn't know what was going on either. I guess they wanted this collapse scene to be surprising in a way even though we already know what's gonna happen.

I could see why people wouldn’t want this to be a movie
The only reason is time. No one suggested Titanic shouldn’t have been made, because in 1997 there were only a few people who actually remembered the real event. With 9/11 the vast majority of people still remember that day, hence why there is a backlash to movies like this.
1:38 The firefighter behind Nick Cage didnt make it into the hallway. The dust cloud got him.
Jeez
Poor guy.
Sad
They were all cops in that group. not firefighters.
One thing after the collapse the rumble covered NYC in a dust cloud
I know someone who was either a fireman or police and was there as the whole thing went down. Rest in Peace to everyone who died this day
You can say what you want about Cage, but that "RUN!" is easily award winning
I imagine this is somewhat similar to what those poor souls down in Surfside, FL experienced this past week. God rest their souls.
what happened?
@@phaseshift943 The 12 story condo in Surfside, FL collapsed in on itself this past week due to intense structural failure. The building codes were outdated, multiple complaints had been filed, and because it was night time, people were mostly inside and asleep when the building came down on them.
It’s a very similar sad experience that won’t have as big as an impact as 9/11 but still a huge one that has destroyed and wrecked many people’s lives
@@Waffleguy2673 I agree. One thing is certain though. Housing and Urban Development will definitely be taken more seriously now, no doubt in my mind.
Yea defiantly I mean the building that fell wasn’t even the tallest building down there and not all of it fell
Still heart wrenching. The noise of the tower collapsing, whether life like or not, was terrifying. Just can't imagine what it must have been like for those inside. R.I.P to all those innocent people on that day, we will never forget 😥
I can't imagine what was going on in the collapse, so many people screaming seconds before their deaths
@@meganbateman5634 how life works anyway 😂
That's what scares me, just hearing and seeing the building crumble before your own eyes. Having your only choices being smothered or jumping out the window is beyond heartbreaking
@@nobodyunknown3184 I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people are not going to die screaming in absolute terror.
We will always love those who sacrificed their lives for another person.
1:07 The man's face tells the whole story.
This movie is real life; that is what makes it terrifying. RIP to the victims, prayers to the friends and family.
Did they have to hire Nic Cage to portray one of these heroes? Did it really need to be him?
Nick Cage did have a pretty good resemblance of McLoughlin, though.
Nic Cage wasn't Stone's first choice for that role. Originally, he wanted either Mel Gibson or John Travolta. Both turned it down. Kevin Costner was then briefly cast, but he dropped out.
Like Titanic
Yeah that’s what it’s like inside the terror.
I can hear the victims scream in the collapse. It makes me feel like I’m in the tower. 😥
1:21 THAT SCENE it gives me chills 😞
It made me cry because just their screams hurt my heart😢😢😢😢
Remember seeing a 9/11 documentary where this individual was going down the stairwell where the rest of their colleagues, they felt an invisible force push them down into a floor well the rest of them continued down, she was the only one that survived from her floor.
Nothing but tremendous respect for those emergency responders who entered the towers to try and save others.
My dad was one of the first 100 responders
Nice
FBI Nice
Respect
God bless him
Thank you FBI very cool!
anyone today on 9/11? rip everyone who died
Yepppp
U are 9/12 but still 🥺☹️
Tasty VeggieYt they are in the building next to it I believe, actually under it
What a stupid ignorant comment.... your not American are you?
cneddy22 Ik right basically beggin for likes
The people on the ground floor when it collapses imagine being one of them getting to the bottom and then getting killed by the tower collapsing!
Running towards the shafts ultimately saved two of their lives.
My dad knew Christopher Amoroso and said he was an amazing guy. We'll be visiting the memorial soon to pay our respects to him.
Rest in peace Christopher! Jon Bernthal did an excellent job at playing his fictional character he will be missed even though I’ve only heard of him because of this movie and because of everyone who sadly passed away from 9/11 gives everyone else who saw this film and has heard of this sad day in history even more reason to feel sad for the real Chris and even more reason to want to see an alternative universe and alternative reality where Christopher survives longer and helps Nicolas cage and the rest of his remaining close friends and allies to get out of they’re struggling situation
I know right it’s like I’m just thinking these people should treat heroes with respect Despicable and pathetic what there doing
Im a firm believer it was an inside job. Still doesnt negate that it was a horrible day
I don't think anyone is saying it was fake. But I do think some believe our government had a hand in this.
What company did he work in?
No one says it's fake and if they do then idk what to tell them you can literally watch it happen... what they do say is that it was planned or that ot was an inside job and after spending all that time looking for wmds that didn't exist that bush told me to look for I wouldn't doubt it to be honest
YOU CAN SEE ONE OF THE FIGHTERFIGHTERS FALL WHEN THEY START RUNNING BUT THEY DIDNT GET BACK UP.
R.I.P Officer Rodríguez and Christopher
They made this movie to early. It should had been made years later.
they did it early cuz they want 2 show how it all happen
I actually agree with you. Many people were not ready for this movie yet.
Ryan19812012 also I don't know if this matters but I don't feel like they can properly tell this and a proper visual level but to be fair I don't think anyone should fully relive that experience
Ryan19812012 I agree. It was a decent movie, but I think it was too soon. If it was made now, maybe it would have been more appreciated.
Ryan19812012 good movie, but it was a sensitive subject still, if it was made now i think it would have been better taken. and the addition of better cgi
"nick, we've got this film about.."
Nick cage "yeah ill do it"
"I haven't told you what it is yet"
@stimmo77 I don't know, but there is no way he could have been in continuous trouble and he's been doing roles like this for a LONG time now
@The Ringo & Monte Show i still haven't seen this movie, I had seen enough during 7th grade when it happened and my teacher brought in the TV and thats all we saw for the rest of the class day.

That has to be the most realistic scene, a moment lasted forever, collecting your surroundings and all you can say is one word or a sound.

Hope you also shed tears for all the innocent kids killed by USA, since this false flag event?

Honestly, I don't hear people saying that. They're mainly just meming it because nobody really believes a plane took down the buildings. Even the architect claimed it can within stand a building hitting it. WTC7 is still in question for me, but nobody really knows the truth, just what we're told.
In 2021, it will be 20 years. Man, time flies in a snap:(

this is one of the saddest 9/11 movies
I was at work in St. Louis that day and getting reports of a plane hitting the tower through the internet on my work computer. My co-workers went down to the lunch room and came back and told me to get to the TV. I watched those towers fall and I watched grown men cry. I knew right then and there that our world was changed forever. There were rumors that planes were falling out of the sky all over the US - next to federal buildings. I worked next door to one. I was so shook up I had to leave for the day. I came home to my wife, hugged her tight, and had a sweeping realization come over me how precious life was.

I cant watch United 93
@@sschevmale24 I gotta tell you but...It's more scary emotional and serious than world trade center

Yep, that's what actors do. They act.
Yeah bro how did they get this footage from 9/11? Crazy live reaction here from actor Nicholas Cage- who knew he was a fire fighter?
If your looking for a more accurate viewing as to how quick the collapse was, heres what i do.
The film in order to accurately portray what the survivors said, gradually slowed the scene down because the adrenaline slowed everything down for them.
So what i do is this:
After the first boom, theres a rumble and then another boom, at that other boom change the speed to x1.25,
Then when the scene of the cop turning his head with wide bulged eyes increase the video speed to x1.5.
Also I personally do this, but it is not really good for your ears
But according to the survivors they mentioned how loud the collapse was, so I listen to this at or near max volume with headphones.
Once again this is not something I'd recommend, but it also helps with getting the real full experience that they had.
Unfortunately my aunt didn’t make it out but I make sure to visit the memorial every now and then
I guess everyone still knows where he was and what he did when he got the news.
Thanks for standing by us in our day of need. I was almost two when it happened.
Thank you; your support really touches my heart. Funnily enough, I also thought I was hearing about a new movie that had come out, because my first clue that day was hearing other kids talk about it on the bus to school.
Thanks for making the tragedy about you. As if you are of any importance to this event.

@@Ireland2872 How would you know?
Ireland2872 Everyone has different stories, how would you know?
Swaggypiecat I mean, nobody from above the impact zone in the North Tower survived because the plane crash blocked off all the stairway access, and only 18 people from the South Tower made it down from above the impact zone and most of them were on the floors just above the impact zone, not the top floor which was the observation deck at any rate.
The sound of the floors of the Tower pancaking down on them ALWAYS gives me chills.
Here that. to think just ONE Story was an acre in size. It's like having 200 large high schools coming down right on top of you and ONE cubic yard of concrete weighs 1 ton.

It's crazy that this movie is five years after 9/11. Now the film will be 20 years old in two years and the disaster will be 25. Time does not pass in vain.
