You know _some_ but not all; you are deployed into a zombie outbreak, you see hundreds if not thousands of people running towards you, and you can't see the enemy or he's in the middle of this horde coming towards you.
Must be quite stressful to try engage
Very interesting perspective on this that I hadn't thought about. I would imagine you either freeze up completely, or get the go ahead to unload on the horde charging at you. Which honestly, unloading seems like the only reasonable thing to do in that position. Considering the fact that your air support is leaving you and in any second you are going to be swarmed, and overwhelmed by the infected. A judgment of morals for sure.
it's the real issue troops in Afghanistan face. you don't know who's a civilian and who's not. even women and children could be wielding the weapon that will kill you, but you can't shoot them unless you see them aiming the weapon at you. must be horrible

More than likely if the threat seems like it cannot be contained and it’s impossible to tell which are infected and who isn’t, you’d either be ordered to retreat or open fire on all targets to attempt to manage the threat

Mainly because of how stupid people will be tbh, stopping and not moving and ending up dead themselves

I remember the first time I saw this movie in theaters. I was at the edge of my seat with my jaw dropped and my legs shaking by the time they escaped the city. I expected some buildup to what was going to happen like most movies but I never expected 0-100 action within the first five minutes. One of the best opening sequences to a movie I’ve ever seen.
Oh my, this film kept me on the edge of my seat!!! IMO it’s the best zombie film ever.
You might be a wuss.
Shaky cam either to hide shit they couldn't be bothered fixing or because they think motion sickness improves the quality of their product. Magical teleporting ultra powerful trash trucks. National guard and SWAT deployed before even any apparent news of the event. Zed that somehow are causing explosions just by... I don't know... running into things really, really hard. The Zed infection taking over so fast that it might as well be magic. Zed ignoring people who are sick. Some dipshit falling on his own gun.
This is a stupid movie.
Dawn of the Dead did it better.
I would say 28 Days Later did it better, too, but we didn't get to see the outbreak. 28 Weeks Later gets a special mention for the heartbreaking outbreak scene.
This is garbage slapped together to capitalize on a fad.
hell of an opening. I love this movie for how much realistic it can depict a fictional event
facts, people hate cause it’s not like the book but it’s still a good ass movie
it's sad the writing sucked and over the course the movie devolved in just brad pitt heroically saving the world because the screenplay and all of the production is great
@@tomasmonzon207 it's my own low level of cinematic and writing knowledge but I don't see how is the movie itself is considered bad writing
@@NguyenDuong-xv9tt there's a lot of just kind of cheesy loopholes and it ends up overfocusing on making the protagonist a real cool hero guy instead of just telling a story. happens a lot with big time hollywood actors, Tom Cruise really likes to do this for example
@@tomasmonzon207 idk, man. Personally, I don't find the movies cheesy at all, tbh. Probably except for the part with the prisoner guy being a little dramatic, other than that, things are quite realistic to me.
And I think Brad Pitt's character is just being a protagonist. It's hard to water down any of his action and still having things make sense with that character being the leading one. His motivation for doing what he does is a happy family shown in the beginning and he had to push it harder at the final act of the story since he found out he was out for 3 days and his family is no longer protected. I think this does tie up some strong motivations for the lead character to do what he has to, to push the plot.
And I don't find he's being too heroic, the guy made mistakes, there was a fatal one of not turning off his phone that lead to deaths of a captain and his men. He found the idea of building a wall just because someone heard about zombie is ridiculous while it turned out to be a good idea for a lot of reasons. He even left his wife and the younger daughter in the supermarket and put them in danger, typical "split up and die" in horror movies. Of course more attention is given to him because he's the protagonist, the lead character, the main factor that push the plot.
Probably not the best writing, idk, but I think they did good and especially this is based on a book. Not every movie which is based on some novel come out a good thing

That’s actually awesome, must be fun to point that out to family/friends
Oh 100 percent! It’s not every day they film something of this scale in Glasgow! Although a few big productions have been here in the last couple of years
Loved the overall feel of the scene, with the chaos and panic, but two things I can never overlook are the truck magically getting by hundreds of stopped cars and Jerry pausing in the middle of total chaos to analyze how long it takes from bite to complete infection...first you wouldn't even know what was going on to think to look for that, but even if you did in that chaos 12 seconds is an eternity, taking that time is even more unrealistic than the teleporting truck.
He obviously didn't know the dude was becoming a zombie, but he saw he somebody attack someone like that and start biting into them its obviously gonna catch his attention. And he wasn't counting himself there was a childrens clock sound playing, he was in the military so he was trained to analyze situations calmly and it just happened to work out well for him.

Quick fact:
This scene was made in Glasgow, Scotland and during the filming Brad Pitt had saved a young woman's life. The woman fell under the crowd of people all running in a panic and basically was trampled in a stampede.
Brad saw the girl being crushed under the horde of people and he quickly ran to her rescue and yelled for filming to be halted. Luckily the girl only suffered minor injuries and was okay.

I think one of the things I always liked about this movie is the way the zombies attack. There’s no “this was a human and now it’s dead but moving”, the way the zombie just slams its face into the windshield until it breaks so it can get to the screaming humans inside really sells the whole idea of “these people are unquestionably dead and a virus is puppeting its meat.”

I was in the city centre when they were filming one day - very strange to hear random gunfire whilst having lunch with friends!
this brings nostalgia i watched this movie like 10 times in my childhood
The reason why I've always loved this movie and the fact that even still to this day it gives me chills, is because there are so many aspects that to me seem so realistic if this really were to happen. There's a scene that always will stick with me. The Grocery Store scene where Jerry shoots one of the men attacking his wife. A cop comes in and Jerry immediately drops the gun and puts up his hands because he knows the enormity of what he's done. But the cop runs straight past him to get baby formula. In times of maybem and pandemonium, people arent worried about what you're doing. They're worried about what they're doing for themselves and their families. It's interesting to see the similarities between people in this movie and the people in real life in the current state of the world. It definitely hits home for sure
Except for the fact that the people in this movie are actually smart and sensible instead of real life where people are hoarding toilet paper...

-At the Gandhi parc, the captain of the ISS describe how the zombies were slowly gaining ground when the poor indian soldiers were out of ammo.
- The guy in wheelchair also describe them as slow since he said that if he couldn't outrun them, how could he be still alive ?
- the one guard protecting a celebrity house, when they have an intrusion on the property, first thing one them say is he's surprised how quick they are (human running).
-the best description of their speed is by Kondo et Tomunaga : both describe them as being slow, not really dangerous outside but deadly confined in buildings.
They are slow but they are strong and they are just impossible to stop until the brain is destroyed.
They are never globally described as quick....

@@vacciniumaugustifolium1420 Though those examples were excellent, I distinctly remember that the virus had 2 stages. Much like the excellent video game dying light, the first stage was infection. Symptoms of infection are hyper aggression and disorientation. Infected victims are as fast or as slow as their body will allow until they suffer a death. Upon death stage 2 commences.
Stage 2 consists of reanimation. Reanimated hosts are much slower, as rigomortis has set in, in the time it took to move from stage 1 to stage 2.Though it has been 5 or 10 years since I've read it, I enjoyed it, and I do believe I'm correct.

2:02 I love how they showed a 1 second picture of a person who won 3rd place in a Saul Goodman lookalike contest
I was actually there when they were doing this scene! Was so weird seeing the US style signs and street furniture in Scotland
I remember the US yellow taxi and signs in Glasgow being in the paper.. and they didnt hide it all that well in alot of scenes, just cgi the buildings higher
@Paul signs, mailboxes stop lights ect. Just the sort of things that you see as you walk around any street really!
John Dall Props?
@@tibor5675 not just props! Anything you see in the street everyday is often called street furniture by architects and engineers
That explains so much. I live in Philadelphia, PA did not recognize any of those arial shots or buildings.
And that kids is why we stay in quarantine
And wait for them to come to you? This is why you move kids
I want a zombie apoclypse, but i dont want too at the same time
@@shmok3y and what is better? leave in the middle of hell or at least wait for everything to calm down a bit
For an overblown virus? Nah
@@mastersamp9192 the people in the apartment waited, and they died so yeah
And this is already 10 years old. Time flies
It was weird seeing Glasgow City Centre turned into a Hollywood set. There was a spate of films all partly made here, all pretty close together - World War Z, Cloud Atlas, Unleashed and Fast and Furious 6. I think one of the Batman’s filmed here too and of course Under The Skin. For a wee while we were the movie capital of the western world !
Girls locker room: “ew PE is so gross”
*Boys locker room:*
battlefield is better than cod i never like comments but that shit was funny

battlefield is better than cod bro people have PE in our town we have something called pre athletics and I am in 6th grade and pe is usually for the fat people
MrHype where are you from we might call it different things.
When coronavirus makes a baby with rabies
Tensa Zangetsu dont be givin ‘rona any ideas now.
That is actually possible.
If rabies was airborne we'd be fucked.
Trick question - Coronavirus IS Rabies (for all practical purposes). People are already intentionally spreading it, coughing in others' faces, licking - well, everything. This is just more subtle than something like the Rage virus.
Yes, but...in this case at least it only gets spread through direct contact.
Toshinben well the final mortality rate is only 1-5%. The zombie virus mortality rate is effectively 99.9% as everyone turns except the immune.
Dude this scene is the most chaotic scene I’ve ever seen
It’s always the initial outbreaks that are more interesting than what happens after. 4 seasons of hacking and slashing at both the living and the dead alike while also finding a safe haven only for it to fall apart again really gets tedious to watch at some point.
2:53 “containment has failed” creepy that we are beginning to hear this now.
Yes. The irony 😖
Shoild have nuked them right away...
Im only responding seriously because people are replying seriously
There are only two known ways we could actually viably get zombies. One would be an extremely aggressive new strain of rabies (after a series of absurd and extremely unlikely mutations) and if that was the case, the "zombies" would die out within 1-3 days of infection. I mean completely drop dead. They wouldnt move. They wouldnt be undead, just ravenous infected people.
The other way (which is more achieveable and realistic) is through a fungal spore infection. Look up The Last of Us (a videogame) if you want some quick though dramatic insight into what that could be like, but again, there would have to be some really weird and extremely unlikely mutations going on in the current funguses that can do that. The "zombies" also wouldnt be very much danger in reality, barely having much motor function and capable of starving pretty quickly.
We arent going to have a zombie apocalypse anytime soon. Worry more about just having a shitty time being super sick. Coronavirus is more like the previous pandemics than some kind of real life The Walking Dead
Bring it on 🗣😈
Never in our history has a virus been contained.
@1:30 Yeah, stop looking where you're going and practically climb out of the driver seat into the back to get your daughter to put her seatbelt on, that's the real priority for auto safety here.
The larger daughter keeps getting people to help her when she shouldn't need any help. There's even a scene later where they're in some military base and the mother is endlessly stroking and holding her which hints that the mother ruined her by fostering extreme dependence. The clip here is actually missing a scene where zombies are running by the car and the same daughter screams something like "I WANT MY BLANKET!!". It's horrifying to know that this child survives the movie. Screamers and the like should never survive zombie movies, yet they do and end up killing as many people as the zombies!
Especially, during something like this?! Idiot! 😂😂😂😂😂
Prolly one of the most terrifying and realistic introduction of a zombie for a long time. There's no "Slow pause and growling" of newly bittin zombie, They just ran and ran without stopping which is really scary for people who don't do cardio and exposed in large area.
What the fuck is realistic about it?
Imagine coming to Glasgow where you see the filming of that particular film taking place how you guys feel about that
The really cool thing about this guy showing how good of a soldier he really is would be the fact that he in every scene of this clip has been attentive and calm and think fast
This is why Tesla’s cyber truck would come in handy🙂
One thing this movie was missing. None of those zombies would have made it!!! Can anyone guess
Until the batteries die out... ;)
@@jonathantan2469 there's gonna be solar power charging built into it now so even that's not gonna happen
Yeah windows will break 😏
@@TIXLTIF I hate to break it to you but on board solar panels aren't going to magically keep a Tesla truck rolling along with ever needing to stop. Even during a long summer's day on the equator you're never going to generate enough power to keep going, and that's before we get to the issue of how you power the truck at night! At best the solar panels will provide a small top up, they're not worthless but you'll still need to regularly connect to mains power to recharge.
I love this film. Such a great movie. Really wish the sequel would've happened.
Y the sequel was cancelled
1:26 Looks like the car's side mirror magically reattached itself.
Fun fact: This scene was actually filmed in Glasgow, Scotland :)
Isnt from U.S? Ore America? Ore U.S.A idk the differences sorry
@@heissomeone2032 Philadelphia is a city in the United States but the movie was filmed in the UK and Morocco so Glasgow was decorated to look like Philadelphia for the movie's early scenes.
*Those bastards lied to me !*
The zombies were just Glaswegians
YES MY COUNTRY!!! F YOU AMERICA!!!
Get back into your car right now!Remain with your ve.. BANGG!!
I jumped!! 😂😂😂
RommieRules yeah same that actually really scared me 😂 is was so sudden and violent
Movie rules, a vehicle smashing through other vehicles, will not make any noise until the optimal moment.
@@chrismilton3240 And don't forget the impossible physics, truck is already on ramming speed with less than a 1/4 block to, and...oh NM. Yeah, hate that about movies.
Authority figures insisting on the rules in the middle of the apocalypse always get hit first. Very satisfying!
1:13 everyone running , screaming , i should run too ... nah i need to clip this LUL
This is cut, right? The original movie Pitt saw the guy get in van get bit I think and started counting how long it took for him to turn. Or was that a little later after this?
I'd prefer a slow walking zombie apocalypse.
Edit: wow, I can't believe I've got over 1k likes. Thank you.
If that was true, what apocalypse??
I’d prefer no zombie apocalypse period.
SkitzozPandaz dude gamers be like YES PLZ APOCALYPSE
If it was in VR or if no one died then I whould say yes
Or if zombies was like a new gender made from a lab that’s nice
@Turtle Crud the walking dead makes no sense like how tf did it become that big of a problem when the zombies legit walk 0.5mph
I'd prefer no zombies.
