- Spared by the ice-age, overlooked by an expanding civilisation for hundreds of years, saved at the last minute from a total sell out to tourism - that is the still little known Carinthian «Nockberge» region. Austria's oldest landscape is a green island surrounded by young, dramatic peaks. The windswept heights have been cattle pastures from time immemorial, and over the centuries a wonderful harmony has develop ed between wildlife and cattle. Wild nature and the ancient culture of mountain farming distinguish the character of the Nockberge National Park.
I could spend hours watching nature documentaries. Thank you for the posting.

A truly beautiful nature documentary! Great photography, great story line, great narration. Inclusion of the historical material about charcoal kilns/steel making and the mountain lodge offering stone-heated bath tubs was an excellent idea.

Great documentary but shame on CZcams I have endured 12 ads in this one documentary so it’s hard to enjoy when repeatedly being distracted!!!! I know they need to advertise to continue bringing us content but this is ridiculous.

I wonder why the high clergy order the bath tubs burned. Could it be it wasn't sanitary or what. I've always enjoyed a hot bath. How did it work? Every tub had new fresh water? That's a lot of work.
Given what I've heard about their concerns with other baths, the clergy may have been both concerned about how clean the tubs were and, perhaps more likely, concerned about immoral goings-on in the baths. Mixed bathing was common at the time, and the clergy were often concerned about sexual misconduct in public baths.
@@nataliebell6760 makes sense I guess but if everyone is of age they pay for what they get. Those rocks are so hot not many germs would survive. It's almost like our steam baths people are always attentive for those. Thanks for the info.👍
