This spectacular river valley was recognised in 2002 as "a cultivated landscape of enormous diversity and beauty" by UNESCO and distinguished as a "World Heritage" site.
The large number of castles, the steep slope viticulture, the legendary Lorelei and the small hamlets that cling to the narrow riverbank beneath the steep slopes, are all ingredients that go into making the Rhine one of Germany's most romantic areas. The extraordinary amounts of natural riches in the Middle Rhine Valley on the other hand, are virtually unknown. In the wildly romantic and steep cliffs on both sides of the Rhine, a fascinating, almost unparalleled biodiversity abounds, including absolute treasures rarely found anywhere else other than in the wild nature of the Lorelei Valley.

The Wildlife of the Rhine Valley: pure enchantment and kind of like a secret garden.
The Rhine River Valley has inspired poems and myths; one is the Lorelei legend of a beautiful girl who lured sailors on the river to their death. Basically, a German interpretation of Homer’s Odyssey of the Sirens saga (they too lured Greek sailors to their deaths)
Well, we’re in Germany, a place steeped in legend and myth. Heinrich Heine (famous German poet) wrote an equally famous poem about Lorelei, the girl with the golden hair who sat upon the rocks high above the river.

In September of 2019, my daughter and I , took a day cruise up the Rhine river . It was truly wonderful. I enjoyed it very much.

I remember all from the north of Portugal in a place called Sobrados.
A small town lost in the north and completely surrounded by nature , forest and water streams.
Including the white flower that you said it was not find anywhere in the world.
Also in Sobrados is the place for the biggest snail apparently find it no other place.
Love the nature and I realized beautiful Portugal has so much to offer and still so little have been discovered.
Some how I prefer that way; less people to know longer it will be persevered.

I remember sailing on the Rhine from Boppard on a cruise. It was very interesting to see the shipping that uses the Rhine.The views were superb as well from it.
