    Thanks so much for this video! As I watch your video it's super cute! I am guessing the camera guy is hubby, lol I could see my hubby saying some of the same things to me. I'm hungry was my favorite and your laugh. My setup up is similar to yours love Ikea! If it's not a little messy then you are not crafting!

    I get it. still the sublimation ink isn't acting like sublimation ink when used with film and the adhesive powder but it is a cool way to do the dtf and inexpensive too.

      It’s a teflon heat press cover. You can get on amazon for about 23 bucks. They help protect the heat plate from mistakes such as forgetting to use butcher paper when sublimating or I recently used transfer tape by mistake under the press and it melted on the top plate

      @craftabilities8805  Před 8 měsíci +1

      When creating something for a customer I try to give them the best product possible. Now with that being said, at times we are our own worst critic. Things we notice the customer will not. So I would say its a balancing act. For this project inparticular, I do not sell hack items as it is a bit labor intensive. For me, hack items are best for small quantities or personal use.

    sublimation ink is NOT transparent. And you are not sublimating. Yes you cannot sublimate black material because the ink in sublimation dyes the fabric and it just won't show up well if at all. what you are doing is dtf where you are joining the film to the fabric

    • @CraftableThings
      @CraftableThings Před rokem +1

      well, sublimation isn't opaque as it needs the white background to fully be seen.

    • @carlosfaught
      @carlosfaught Před rokem

      @@CraftableThings no and it cannot be opaque as it dyes the fabric unlike dtf which bonds to the fabric similar to plastisol ink in screenprinting. The sublimation ink when heated become gaseous and in that state permeates the fabric strands dying them what ever color it is and dark colors it still dyes it but cannot be seen very well if at all. I have seen some darker colors take a lighter color sublimation and show which on some designs looks cool like a vintage style or faded design. But overall it isn't a good method on dark colors.

    • @CraftableThings
      @CraftableThings Před rokem +4

      I’ve been doing sublimation for years and I’ve never seen dark colors take light colored sublimation designs. If it isn’t opaque, then it is transparent as I stated. Plastisol inks can be both transparent or opaque depending on the ink. These 2 print methods and inks are also different. Screen printing ink sits on top of the fabric while sublimation embeds into the fabric.

    • @carlosfaught
      @carlosfaught Před rokem

      @@CraftableThings Yeah Ive been doing sublimation since 1984 and screen printing about the same time. Again, not transparent just not visible due to the inability to dye the fabric and show on the darker colors, It may appear transparent to a degree but is still there just cannot show. I have seen some plastisol that is clear used as a base to thin or mix ink and used it before but plastisol by it's very nature is not transparent.
      Enjoyed your video BTW, hope you and your family are very blessed.
