Why are Wilson keeping this so quiet?

  • I can't understand why Wilson are keeping this quiet about these irons?! I will be revealing all in this video and there is one thing for sure, you are going to be surprised, because I was. There is one big question that I am going to be answering today, why are Wilson keeping this so quiet about the Wilson MB staff model irons for 2024... I highly advise you to watch the whole video because this is something you will not want to miss.
Wilson has been on the rise in the golf industry over the last several years that is for sure, but these irons are something else. The Dynapower range was very successful in 2023, and now Wilson are trying to grow on that with the new Staff Model CB & MB range. Why have Wilson been keeping so quiet about this and should you consider these for your bag?

@@lloydwilliams4368 that is to Golf Magazine’s shame. There are tour players gaming Wilson, especially irons but also wedges. Brendan Steele is one, and he recently won the individual LIV Adelaide event. The 2 youngsters who won the Good Good tournament also play Wilson. And there are a few CZcamsrs reviewing them and gaming them too. Would be great to see you keep gaming them Alex and give them some limelight. Help the Wilson Staff renaissance!

I love Wilson irons. In the US they are treated as a sports manufacturer vs. A golf club manufacturer. Mizunos, Taylormade, Titleists, etc. will be considered more desirable in the US anyway even though that makes no sense. I hate saying this but the UK reviews tend to tell it like it is though a bit more long winded. Thanks for the wonderful review of a wonderful iron set.

First set of clubs I had as a kid was a set of Wilson Staffs from the 1960s with leather “Reminder” grips. Almost unhittable for a beginner but I made them work. Love the look of their current line. Just bought Mizuno 245s so I’m out of the market but those would be on any list of mine to try.

Alex, I had the D7 Forged two generations before the Dynapower Forged. I loved them felt great but wanted something a little more precise. Switched to the JPX 923 Tours, big difference the Tours are tiny in comparison and very punishing if not hit out of the middle. I am now gaming the Staff CBs and couldn't be happier. Much more forgiving, I think feel better and absolutely beautiful. They are a club shorter than the D7s but are also a club weaker in loft, so there you have it.

I don’t carry a 4 iron anymore. I play “players distance” irons. Forged, tad chunky compared to pure blades. But I have the same issue. I hit my 6 iron in the 185 -190 carry stock. The 5 is 190- 200 ish. The 4 iron is roughly the same. Now I can hit them further but I feel I can’t swing them the same as the shorter irons. I tend to choke down to make sure I make good contact. This naturally changes, speed angle etc. so I carry a 4 hybrid and sometimes a 3 hybrid. Those carry the perfect gap distances. 200-230 with the 3/4. Can cut them draw them etc much easier than the 3/4 irons. Lost the speed I had 15 years ago

Wilson probably the most underrated brand in golf. Great products at great prices. My only criticism is not many stockists and not many places to test them. As they don’t have many touring pros they should perhaps market their products more and offer more demo days and target the amateur golfer. Great review Alex I’m considering Dynapwr forged as I want a forged forgiving iron. I’m a senior 15/17 handicapper.

Forged irons always seem to have that crisp solid strike that feels as though the club has stuck on the ball giving that beautiful sound. They look divine and as you say off centre hits will affect distance which is why I think they are aimed at the better golfer. I agree the price is great as the other companies hike up their prices as they sponsor so many pros they have to get the money back somehow! Great in-depth video and if I was looking to change wouldn’t hesitate to try these. However am sticking with my srixons for the time being.

I wont play MBs, i tried and its not forgiving enough for me, and i still enjoy soft touched irons, but i dont want to have 10 yards gapping on different shots with he same club, i think that’s why Wilson do not advertise them so much, they look more for for 5 handicap or lower, therefore no needs to advertise it as good players will notice them easily on a fitting or demo day

I have played some of my best golf with Wilson clubs over the last 30 years. The best part is I typically save hundreds of dollars over my Taylormade, Callaway and to some extent Cobra clubs. You can pick up 2023 Staff CB irons new for under $500. That never happens with the other brands. I’m am confused by the constant complaining about getting the same distance with a 6 or even 7 iron as a 4. Just don’t get the 4, 5 or 6 and put something else in the bag to fill any gaps you have. Realistically if your hitting your tee shots and are not inside 200 yards your playing the wrong tees. A scratch golfer is going to get his irons loft and lie tweak to get the right numbers anyway. You might also make the case that there is something to playing one length clubs since they’re sized around a 6 or 7 shaft length club. I like my one length Cobra’s but I still use standard length wedges because they usually involve less than full swings. You might say I play Two Length irons. I have found them easier to play earlier at the start of the season because I’m limited to 2 swing paths for my irons.

To cameron; fitting for the most part is a scam. Unless one is an elite player. Most people who are fitted can't break 80. Fitting is, for the most part, a sales technique. But you can’t get a fitting. Granted it’s not like you can get a Wilson fitting easily, but at least it’s possible

Playing wilson c300 forged irons weaker lofts but lovely feel & a nice top line make them look great behind the ball, also have the staff model 18 degree driving iron. Wilson is definitely an underrated brand that deserves to be classed as one of the best… give them a try folks & i bet you’ll not be disappointed ⛳️🏌️‍♂️

Love my C300 Forged. For me they are the perfect lofts. 7 iron goes 175 yds. That’s enough, and also the reason I never updated to D7 or D9 Forged, or the new Dynapowers

Have the C300s in the bag at the moment. Very soft feel. Brilliant clubs. To me Wilson is underrated. They make wonderful golf clubs. Oh, and the new ones look amazing. Might be time to upgrade.
