    This is ultimately a scientific question. If male and female brains (or brain function) can be distinguished from each other, it should be possible to do research with transsexuals to discover if their brains are consistent with their genitals or if there is some basis for thinking that their gender dysphoria has a basis in their biology. This is another scientific issue that has unfortunately become politicized.

      > This is ultimately a scientific question.
      Science as understood within which philosophy? There are, of course, scientific questions. But your claim could mean an uncritical acceptance of the arbitrary and conventional. And, by amazing coincidence, mainstream modern (or contemporary philosophers just happen to claim that knowledge is arbitrary and conventional, not objective. My point is that all knowledge is basically philosophical. Thus advocating science without philosophy could be a method of sneaking in a philosophy without identification.

    • @Eudaimonist
      @Eudaimonist Před 29 dny

      @@TeaParty1776 I'm not suggesting that science exists without philosophy, but some people try to have philosophy without science.
      So, I mean that science is the fundamental requirement here. Yes, have an objective epistemology, but do the science. These questions can ONLY be objectively dealt with that way.

    • @BuFFoTheArtClown
      @BuFFoTheArtClown Před 28 dny

      Unfortunately you have it backwards. Philosophy underlies science.
      If your philosophy holds that your feelings and whims dictate reality, then you're supposed science will reflect it. Whether it's transgenderism or quantum field theory.
      The overwhelming majority of Western scientists are not objective. They are whim worshiping collectivistic group think second-handed seekers.
      And the handful of actual scientists out there are pushed out of government granted subsidies for research because their ideas and conclusions do not align with what's politically acceptable.
      How you think of the world comes first. What you do with the world, whether it's scientific or mystical, come second.

    • @TeaParty1776
      @TeaParty1776 Před 28 dny

      @@Eudaimonist Agreed, philosophy is only about fundamentals abstracted from common human experience, w/no specialized knowledge. Man knew about motion and falling (gravity) long before Newton used science to measure them. Newton was necessary to build motors. Philosophy alone, as Greece shows, is insufficient for science. Aristotle, who discovered scientific method, also was the first scientist. See his biological writings. Thus the importance of the 17th century Sci Rev (based on Newtons mathematical physics based on Bacons induction, itself based on Aristotle.

    I was raised in a house with a lesbian grandmother and lesbian aunt plus their girlfriends in Los Angeles in the 1980’s. They were catholic but not super strict obviously. All they told me was to never let anyone tell you what to do or how ti think. I did exactly that. I had a wide bandwidth for unlimited channels of choice. I dated both men and women. I searched within a variety of religious beliefs. Different styles of dress. Education of various subjects. I love all cultures. All music. (Except Rap I feel it’s focused on materialism)
    My point is I was able to experience everything I wanted but at the end of the day I was able to change and move on to something else. THAT IS FREEDOM. Being able to progress and keep what you need to but bury the disappointments and MOVE ON with ZERO EVIDENCE IT EVER HAPPENED. It was never anyone’s business. My secrets for me to keep or share. CHANGING THE BODY of a CHILD is a PERMANENT SCARRING PHYSICAL MODIFICATION that they will not be able to hide so easily. My grandmother would have never allowed me to do something like that. She would have strangled my mother if my mother would have allowed me to decide to change something so permanent. When you love someone you think of how it affects them presently and in the future if something goes wrong. That is how you know someone loves you. Every human being allowing a child to go through transition should just openly admit they are worshipping a deity and the child is a casualty of this pledge they are making to obtain something that is worth more to them than our first pledge made before being born which is a pledge to honor and never do anything to PERMANENTLY and INTENTIONALLY OBSTRUCT OR LIMIT ANOTHER HUMANS RIGHT TO REBALANCE. Meaning go back or forward as they choose. A sex change is forever. How dare anyone who thinks a child should permanently change something so crucial to healing & balance.

    i've met some trans people, these 2 seem like they want to talk about a topic they know next to nothing about, didnt even take time to talk to trans persons or trans therapists.
    the mention of brain scans i've read about, also theres is indication of possible genome identifier - i believe there is ongoing research on this. thinking logically about it one might conclude there could be issue with fetus development in the womb or early life experiences as causes. I thought logic was supposed to be a cornerstone of Ayn Rand, yet this presents as biased opinions discussed in ways to avoid being blatant
    the mentions of scientific methods being used in medicine is probably well-meaning its also demonstrating misunderstanding of many of the 'science based' claims made over the years that were opinions, based on bad science, used selective data subsets, theories, etc. dietary Fat and cholesterol are 2 easy ones, we could expend on that by including low serotonin (recently disproven) as being cause of depression when its more likely to be inflammation in body and/or diet - i know tis cause i read a very dry books on the topic written by real life doctors w/o an agenda
    you 2 should do another video after talking to some people in trans community and those that treat them.
    one more thing: the movement didnt start until the manufactured moral outrage by right wing commentators or politicians decided gay people are no longer a good wedge issue for elections

    It's dishonest to suggest the Matt Walsh type conservative response to Queer ideology is based in mysticism the same way Queer ideology itself is based in mysticism.
    It is a red herring to conflate Matt Walsh's method of critiquing trans ideology with his own views on gender roles, same sex marriage, and so on (not the same topic).
    The Daily Wire and PragerU type Conservatives haven't simply used ad hominem and argument from intimidation to push back against this ideology.
    You mentioned Kathleen Stock's book. You made no mention of Walsh's book on the topic.
    Walsh went out of his way to try to talk to trans and queer activists, who never seem interested in an open dialogue.
    Conservatives stood up to protect children against chemical castration when ARI intellectual Greg Salmieri, who contributed to a course on how to be an objective consumer of science, made completely unscientific remarks in its defense.

    The reason people say JK Rowling doesn't care about the bullying/harassment and prejudice against trans people isn't because of her position on gender. It's because she actively participates in the bullying and harassment of trans people and promotes that prejudice.
    Just look at how she promoted bullying of trans women who merely carried the torch at some point during the Olympics opening ceremony. There was nothing more to the situation than that some couple of the people in the large group who carried the torch at various times were trans, and she encouraged her large audience to participate in publicly mocking them.
