I'm happy for Mercedes! Hopefully GM and Ford would back away from evs as well. Great video, my friend!

Mercedes has already lost a ton of money with their EV -Q vehicles.
The jelly-bean look doesn't inspire people to drop a ton of money on a vehicle.

Well TK not totally surprised either 😁. I can see this is definitely becoming really expensive over time for them and my local Mercedes dealer sells almost no EQ stuff at all. I used to own 2 Mercedes cars. A 190D Turbo Euro and a C230 Kompressor. Miss cars like that both were pretty sweet rides. Just making good cars that run on different fuels would be way better. Love the videos TK!👍

It looks like automotive manufacturers have discovered that EV's are not as profitable as some thought. Maybe because people found out how the power is derived to power and EV, or that the range is not so good, that they are not so cold weather friendly, or just maybe that there really is no infrastructure to support them, i.e.: where to charge on a route or enough chargers or places to charge period. Stellantis has done their due diligence to kill off American brands so far and to step back would actually be a shock, but is it too late?

Someone should do plug in hybrid V8, the best of both worlds. I bought 2013 Chevy volt new, I am still getting over 42 miles on electric before ice kicks in.

  • @4dscdriver
    @4dscdriver Před 26 dny

I think a lot of this also has to do with who they think will be the next president. It is far more profitable to make cars w/ ICE, and these companies will do it as long as possible.

Everyone says the tech in mercedes and bmw is a downgrade from the jump compared too other ev brands.
Jus like buying a budget android phone and by close to the end of the year its about time to upgraded again.

Stellantis is stalling on releasing the EV they've planned for a while, the Charger. I would imagine Tavares is too arrogant to pull product once it's released (like the failed Hornet) but holding back on unreleased product is more his style.

  • @toyotacorollaaltis8613

Good I’ve always been a huge Mercedes fan but it became hard to love Mercs after 2020 they just felt cheap looked cheap and ugly and engine wise they lost their way with any luck they are now getting it back and will return to making amazing cars even if some people don’t find those cars reliable

No one was making cheap electric cars besides GM with the Bolt. That’s why most of them failed. If we didn’t have tariffs, the Chinese would eat our lunch

Mercedes Benz EVs ($120 thousand dollars and up) and a 50% depreciation value in less than one year of ownership are overpriced, not scaled to the entry-level demographic...😂

#1 It's important to remember that Mercedes, BMW and AUDI were forced into the EV direction because of the Russo-Ukraine war. A lot of sheet metal for those cars comes from Russia. Needs no mention that the oil, petroleum and gas products were going to shoot up in value, especially when the Nordstream pipeline was MYSTERIOUSLY BLOWN UP (read: USA did it). When USA put sanctions on Russian oil/imports, the price of driving in general was going to skyrocket across Europe.
#2 Mercedes and BMW took two different routes. Audi and BMW built their cars to be used as EV, Hybrid or regular gas cars. Mercedes designed the EQ line from the ground up. The EQS, for example, would have been my next car if it hadn't been so small inside. I expected it to be the same size as a Mercedes S580. It wasn't. So I skipped it and bought a Cadillac Lyriq instead.
The EQ line is mostly UGLY. The cars look like Eggs. The EQB and G-Wagon EV look ok, but the EEQ/SUV are boring. Mercedes had these cars LANGUISHING on the lots near me and were forced to give tremendous discounts on them.
#3 It's also important to always remember that interest rates - even on leases - are so high that most cars ARE NOT MOVING. Same goes for Stellantis.

This is geo political. If the oil situation worsens, Mercedes, Audi and BMW will be forced to triple down on EV.
