For areas with lots of iron and scrap, why not use one of thise crazy strong magnets used for fishing over a signal before digging?
I use the magnets on my pick for just that quite a bit.

I’m having hard time figuring this out I can read a river but this is a desert…. Pulls out 10 pieces of gold and whips everyone again 😂😂 loved it Gary you figured it out just fine apparently. Good video …. Couple of quick questions;
1) Didn’t see any info on how to visually find a good spot like to do perfectly when describing river placer deposits. If it’s nearly impossible then;
>> Have one to two people metal detect large plots placing landscaping flags on hits (might see patterns??)
2) When moving shovels of pay dirt over the metal detector, what not check the “discard” hand full just in case there may be two pieces??

When he is check targets in the scoop u see him shake it that takes the target to the bottom the dirt he removes from scoop won't have the signal if scoop still makes the noise that's the main reason for not checking the dirt in hand u can hear multiple targets in a scoop alot of the time plus u check the area and the hole before finishing
My left forearm is full of titanium from when I crushed it several years ago, so I can't check with that hand. I throw everything back in the hole then double check it before I move on.
When yt algorithm recommends this, thats when you know you're hook line and sinker
Thanks for another fine video! About the shotgun pellets though. All we need to do is convince the bird hunters that gold is the best material for making birdshot. Problem solved, everyone is happy. Right?

Man what a tough looking place to prospect, I'm also a river guy and wouldn't know where to start. Seemed like the darker rocks approach worked great. Glad Todd got some nice gold too!

This video explains the difference between California gold and Nevada gold. To summarize, Nevada gold came up through hot springs. whereas California gold was brought up through plate movement. Hey Gary Scott here, from Thousand Oaks. it seems that many of your finds were within 4” of the surface. Could you scrape the surface of a large area and then detect the scrapings all at once.? Or are they too few and far between?
Most of the time you would get one or two then it would be another hour of detecting before you would find another one.
