It sure is! Crazy seeing Dream House Days having 5 million+ downloads and others like Game Dev Story and Beastie Bay having over a million. They are certainly bigger than I thought, but underrated!
Ngl, Kairosoft really gave me that Cozy spot that was missing, yes, there are games like Stardew, Spiritfarer, or things like the My Time Series (Portia/Sandrock), but Kairosoft, they're like another PopCap (very casual background), if you get the drift.
You put into words really well how unique their gameplay style is, they play like no other games imo
My time-series developer Pathea has a video game called Let's School. It's great, and if it's successful, hopefully, they'll grow their catalog of management games. When I played that game, it reminded me of Kairosoft's Pocket Academy games. Maybe the developers will be inspired to take inspiration from other Kairosoft games and create their own deeper interpretations.

It's funny that no matter how old we are, we all had the same sort of experiences when first finding the games. You mentioned being a young boy on an ipod touch with Gam Dev Story. I was Nearly out of college at that time, yet I was also glued to my iphone 3 playing FAR late into the night before I had class or work the next day. When I think back to college, a pretty defining thing I remember was playing various Kairosoft games in my downtime like when I was on the bus. I'm getting a bit closer now to 40 than I would like, but I still get pumped when a Kairosoft game is released. I have literally played them all, including the absolutely terrible side scrolling F2P insane cash grab one I can't even remember the name of.
I still get that similar excited feeling whenever a new release drops totally know how you feel! Their gameplay is just something else, so fun to unwind with playing their titles after a long day
Kairosoft been part of my life and phones ever since i found it back at 6th grade, i remember playing beastie bay on my Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and this was the first game that introduced me to the whole company.
I remember downloading the free mod version of the paid games and pay for the actual game later once i got my monthly allowance and once there's an update for the game as well.
I'm starting to think that Kairosoft might be my comfort company, but I'm still salty about all of the Japan-exclusive games they made as well as the gacha system ones, hopefully the newest one will be released globally as the JP version's already out.
They are super influential, agreed they just might be one of the best comfort game developers ever! The newer games will almost definitely be ported, there is typically a 2-4 month delay for the English releases

There are a lot if Kairosoft players now! It's super exciting to see them grow lots with their massive expanding game library
i used to crack all their games as a kid, and now im an adult and i already have bought 13 of their games lol

World Cruise Story is so underrated in my opinion, one of the best layout Kairosoft games imo
I love all the food based games, but replayed forest camp story, golf planner, and pool slide story more than once, loved them
Great picks! Pool slide story is one of my personal favourites, forest golf planner is amazing too! Check out shiny ski resort if you haven't, very similar to forest golf planner
I find it nice that the background music is the music for the game
Kairosoft low-key have some amazing catchy songs for some of their titles. I love how music much range they have for their 65+ games
I am suprised to see kairosoft games on my recommend; i remember playing the dream house, diner, paper press, academy, shopping mall and racing related games of them like 7 years ago on my tablet. I remember they changed their lite and priced games on play store not so long ago. Watching this video made me hit nostalgia pretty quick. Thank you for tiering and reviewing them all.
Can relate I first played them on mobile when I was a kid too, they are super nostalgic to me aswell, glad I was able to envoke some nostalgia

I stumbled on this Dev for phone and was pleased to see numerous titles on Steam. They produce some nice leisurely games. Good on ya for reviewing them.
The steam copies are the best way to experience them imo, was so glad that they finally started to get ported all these years later

I absolutely adore Kairosoft games, been playing them since I was just a kid. Beastie bay is my number 1 favorite, but maybe that's just the nostalgia talking.
My second is Dream house days, I like filling the apartments with furniture. I wish they made a modern version of it with tons of new stuff.

i started with Game Dev Story for my introduction to Kairosoft games, and it is my first game-making game which make me a fan of the genre, which make me play Game Dev Tycoon, Mad Games Tycoon 1 and 2, City game Studio and many more, Game Dev story is still my most fav game in the genre, and i really hope Kairosoft make a sequel for the game.

I love kairosoft games. I discovered Dream House Days in 2023 and got curious if the company makes more pixel art style games, and oh my gosh there is a lot. Ever since then I've been playing most of their games daily lol.

To me the underrated one is Boxing Story, I personally love that game and will at least give it on A tier, It has to many reference to Hajime no Ippo which perhaps not many knows about.

World Cruise has a special spot in my heart as one of my first Kairo games and the one I played most combined, and the one I finished first. But that being said the harsh ratings for it are not unfounded - game is fairly slow and low on content, the path changes are only possible at fixed times, and of course, after first handful of Kings they become very hard to please, and instead of you having a good/pretty layout for your passengers you need to actually design and devote a specific layout just to ensure the king visits enough good locations to get his approval bar maxed in the very short time on board (I think they stay only between 2 destinations and not for the whole single tour).

I love kairosoft games, I downloaded a bunch of them a long time ago and was able to redownload them from the cloud even though some of them cost money now lol
They're the best! I always have them always downloaded on my phone, even my old ipod touch just in case to preserve them
I really like kairosoft. Their games are simple and easy to learn. These games can be beaten in 2 or 3 days. It gets boring after that but always nice to replay it again one day.
Agreed they offer such a different game experience, even after beating them quickly they have so much replay value

I like food games but the s+ tier game sounds interesting to me. I might try burger bistro or the cafe game. I’ll look up more gameplay of pocket academy 3 tho. I want to be addicted and have fun!

Dream House Days is such a timeless game, all of the Dream series games are top notch 👌 I'm hoping for Beastie Bay 2 aswell considering Dungeon Village 2 was very popular
I want them to remake Beastie Bay with the newer monsters added to the game and more functionality. I still play BB religiously to this day but damn does it get old fast.
With the success of the original Beastie Bay being one of their most played titles and the recently released Beastie Bay DX, I'm hoping for a full Beastie Bay 2 release too 🙏

Anytime! Thank you for watching, the free game versions on phone are also a great way to test games to get an idea if you like the genre gameplay (e.g sports, Pocket Academy etc)
Nice video. Just a suggestion from looking at your data, instead of just averaging the score from Apple, Google and Steam evenly, you should probably weight things by number of review on each platform. Just generally it looks like the vast majority of reviews in your data set are on Android and as such the ratings should probably reflect this. Just as an example Game Dev Story had over 75,000 reviews on android vs. just over 3,000 reviews on the other 2 platforms combined. That said, the actual community rating should probably look a lot closer to the android ratings.
This is a great point! I really like this idea, when I revisit a tierlist later on with newer 2024 titles and beyond released I'll definitely look into do this

I'm interested in these games, but as a newcomer the amount of Kairosoft games is a bit overwhelming.
In case of a second (or third) game being released with the same name (like Hot Spring Story 2/ Dungeon Village 2) do you think the newer versions are always better games? And is it worth playing both, or are they too alike?
I put all games from your S+ tier and a lot of the S tier (of which I like the theme) in my Switch wishlist. (and I just bought the sushi one, it was on sale!)
Is it true that 'Zoo Park Story' is the highest rates game with animals 'in the lead'?

Thanks for watching! It sure is intimidating haha, there's a whole bunch available now so I hope the video helped. I would recommend both of the sequels that you mentioned (Dungeon Village 2 and Hot Springs Story 2) over the originals, the only sequels I wouldn't recommend playing first are the free to play ones like Pocket League 2, but being free you can always try them first. I enjoyed playing them both, but the sequels definitely have more content for those two games. Pocket Stables is the highest rated animal game but it only features horses, Forest Camp Story is also highly rated where you attract animals to your campsite, but Zoo Park Story has a whole bunch of animals to collect as its primary gameplay, all are great!

Im not sure how i got reccomended this video as I have never played or even heard of Kairosoft games. This type of game is so up my alley tho and I would love to try it out. I watched the entirety of this video and I'm super excited, but also overwhelmed with all the option to pick from! My only question is, where do I go play them? Id prefer playing on PC, but are ALL of them on PC? or only some?

I know how you feel with all the options, PC is the latest platform Kairosoft develops for, so they are slowly and shortly all being ported over. The mobile app stores (iOS and Android) have all of the titles, and they are also on switch and ps4. The switch store also offers free game demos, and there are some free trial games on mobile

I remember finishing my ninja village with my dad's Motorola phone ...
Motorola phones are such a throwback, playing kairosoft on early generation phones was peak
my best game is Beastie Bay, because it was my first kairosoft game, and also like kairosoft for the first time
Beastie Bay is a great choice, its one of the classic for sure!
I hope they make an ice hockey sim soon. Doubtful because Japan sucks at hockey, but I can certainly dream 😂

this is absolutely a personal preference thing but home run high should be at least A tier, imo S. That game rules (I may be biased towards their sports games)
I'm interested to see how it ranks for a community vote tier list / my personal one once I have reviewed all games again. I do really like the club growing and academics mechanics of it
