    IT WORKED! Haven’t used my FOB in years. I had to unplug my battery for 10 minutes. I did have to try the programming several times to get it to work.
    **NOTE**
    If you’re key does not make a constant beeping sound when inserted, then it will NOT go into programming mode. I had to insert my key and twist it back a little bit in order to get the beeping to stay constant.
    The beeping is the sensor that your key is in.

    Mike Nice job on explaining the fuse and the module in the glove compartment. Teide the battery disconnect and the fuse box. What actually worked was the module in the glove compartment.... Thank you for your help and great explanation. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    I used one key fob until it stopped working we changed Key fob batteries and everything else I had a second one that came with the truck I started using that it worked great and then it would sometimes work and sometimes not work I changed the battery and it helped for a while and then it would sometimes work and sometimes not work,,,,,one thing I have found if I open up the key fob with a penny for something similar in thickness and then put it back together again it’ll work for a day or so and then I have to open it back up and pull it apart and then push it back together and it’ll work for a day or so. up there where that module is above the glove box is getting mighty close to the airbag deployment area folks probably need to be extremely cautious playing around up in there.

    • @MikeFreda

    I have a 2015 SR5 Tundra. The Driver and Front passenger doors will NOT lock with the key fab. It doesn't respond. It will only lock manually.
    No beep either.
    The two back passenger doors do respond to the Key fab of opening and closing. HELP 😢

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  Před 29 dny

      That’s odd. I don’t know anything about Tundras. However, what I would do it reset the ECU and the Door lock Controller. Unplug the battery for 5 min to reset the ECU and for the door lock controller, unplug it. Put new batteries in the Fob as well. If that doesn’t work then you have something else going on like a wiring harness issue. Good luck.

    If you have two keys that have chips in them, that both currently work on the vehicle (neither of which are the gray valet key), how will programming a new fob as done in this video affect the second key not used? Will it still work? Are there different instructions for programming just an additional key instead of a fob?

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  Před 5 měsíci

      Good day, I don't quite understand your question. If both fobs are working, why would you need to reprogram them to sync with the vehicle? If both keys are the factory keys that came with the vehicle you only need to have one to re-sync. If both keys are identical, the other key will work after the re-sync. Cheers.

    • @nathanielhuff3627
      @nathanielhuff3627 Před 5 měsíci

      @@MikeFreda I only have one factory key (with the chip in it). The second key (again, with a chip in it) was duplicated to match that factory key, and also programmed. Both these keys start the vehicle. But I don't know if that makes them identical relative to the computer chip programmed in each key. So if I buy a new key fob, which hasn't been programmed, and I program in it as done in this video, I want to make sure that the duplicated key will still work after the new fob is programmed.

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I don't know. I've never done this or needed to do this. Re-syncing the fob is different than re-syncing a key. From what I understand it is more involved. I also believe that both keys need to be the same. There is a Thread on Tacomaworld. "Tacoma Key Programming".

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  Před 4 měsíci

      I'm not aware that Gen 2 Tacomas had a Valet Mode. The Grey Key is a Valet key that will not open the glove box or allow you to resync a key fob. Sorry I'm not more help. Try googling you make an model of your vehicle. Cheers

  • @joseclavel9203

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  Před rokem

      I'm not sure if the Gen 2 programming sequence is the same as the Gen 1 Tacoma's. What I would try is unplugging the main truck battery for 20 min to reset the ECU. Clean your FOB and install new batteries. Make sure you are using the right key. (I heard using the grey valet won't work) If that still does not work, I suspect your fob may be damaged. Try over at the Tacoma forum. They may have some ideas. cheers.

      @MikeFreda  Před 2 lety +1

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  Před 10 měsíci

      I’m not really sure. I’ve never had to deal with it that way. Other than taking a multi-meter and checking the pins are output a voltage as per the wiring diagram you may just want to swap out a known working one.

    Is there any reason that after following the steps for over 20 time it wouldn’t work on my truck?

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  Před 2 lety

      I would try disconnecting battery of the truck and 1/2 hr to reset the ECU and Locking module that is under the glovebox. Install new battery in your fob and make sure you are using the black key (The grey key won't work) If it still fails then you have a failure in one of those items. Cheers

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for your comment. Not really sure why that is. I would try to eliminate the possibly of low batteries (fob and vehicle). Perhaps clean the fob or the programming was not fully registered. You may want to reset the ECU and door lock module by disconnecting the battery for 10-15min.
