In Memoriam Actor Robert Blake 1933-2023
Hollywood Fan
He was a great actor/pretender…. And, he will not be forgotten.
Regardless of his personal turmoil, Robert Blake is a stunningly talented actor.
Agreed
Talented yes, but still a lying murderer
“Stunningly” talented??? A bit of an overstatement.
Watch him in "Electra Glide in Blue"
@@thatsmrharley2u2 another in Busting.
I always liked Robert Blake, he was born in 1933m the same year as me, I am 86 now. Blake was in movies since he was 5 years old and played many excellent roles and I enjoyed hos work. Too bad that he wound up marrying a floozy gold digger !
AH MEN! So easy to fool. So needy.
Best show of the 50's and early 60's bar none! And John Newland man....what a narrator!
Hes so youthful. Here he played an 18 year old, but in reality he was already 26 - 27. Great actor. Always loved to watch him.
nice to see Robert Blake as a young actor - he is very good and rivetting partly because of his inner depth - problems he definitely had. we all have our demons, we also have our deeply human souls which bring us above them as much as we can. after a horrible childhood, Blake struggled, but he got through. I loved Baretta - it was a really good show because of him. i do hope he is well and getting enjoyment out of life - here's to ya, Robert. . .
Alexa Penn I loved Berretta too
I so agree. :)
I looked in the comments to see what was said about Robert Blake. He overcame a lot of troubles. In this show he looks almost as young as he did in the Little Rascals.
Barretta was just another 70s cop show. They were all interchangable as they were written by the same people.
@@donkeyslayer4661 DON,T DO THE CRIME IF YOU CANT DO THE TIME
Outstanding acting by Robert Blake here. Especially his monologue about his 'old lady'
His monologue sounded almost autobiographical.
Indeed, I agree. In the past few years, given Blake's legal troubles; it is truer than ever..Blake always had a real 'turbulence' about him. But, on the other hand, it does make him magnetic to watch - onscreen.
He always strikes me as a sweet, generous, little bit needy sometimes, boy. In IN COLD BLOOD though, he frightened me into a black postpartum depression with my second baby. Just not the kind of movie I should have been watching.
So sad. Robert Blake was a much better then any actor today.
I've been binge watching these episodes for the last three days. I'm obsessed! Thank you for uploading!!
holy cow, me, too :} i loved this show as a kid. always found the situations fascinating. . .
I just discovered them today!!!🤗 Sweeeeeeet!
I hope Pizzaflix uploads "The Next Step Beyond"
Me too! That haunting music and the great actors & actresses.
@@js5787 "Binge Watching" has taken on a revised definition in the last year! This is such a great series, recommend "Suspense" if you like noir! Take care from 🇨🇦 and Merry Christmas 🎅
I know how you feel
I'm on day 2 of my binge. Have you watched The Veil series? It's really good.
“Gypsy,” Season 2, Episode 34, Episode aired 17 May 1960. Robert Blake as Tom, John Kellogg as Folger, Johnny Seven as Gypsy, Murvyn Vye, Abe, Addison Richards as the Warden, Monte Burkhart (as Monte E. Burkhart), as the Prison Guard, Kelly Thordsen as Peterson, John Newland, as Himself-Host.
One of the best episodes I have seen so far. As usual, Blake's performance was fascinating to watch.
If you liked Blake's performance in this, you'll love him in "In Cold Blood", the film based on Truman Capote's classic true crime novel about the killing of the Clutter family on their farm by two ex-cons.
In Cold Blood is by far his best performance.
That was one terrifying, excellent movie. Scott Wilson, who played Richard Hickock, said the first time he watched it in its entirety, he went into the bathroom and threw up. I guess that was due to the realism of this true horror story, in which both his and Robert Blake’s performances excelled.
Gil D'Aquin Electra Glide in Blue is a good one.

I wish the cast members were listed in the description. There are a lot of interesting actors in them besides the most familiar ones. In this one, Johnny Seven, "Gypsy," is an especially interesting actor, for example. He got that nickname in the Army and kept it as an actor. He was in about 600 TV shows over the course of his 40-year career, so if you watch "vintage" TV, you've very likely seen him. He also was married to the same woman for 60 years, which is also impressive.
I've had fun looking up the actors in these episodes and have come across the most interesting trivia, like there's a brother and sister in one episode playing husband and wife (sorry, but I forget which episode).
I never saw this series as a kid, so it's been "a blast", as we used to say, binge watching episodes. I've shared a couple on my Facebook page so others can discover and enjoy them. Thank you for sharing this series!
You again? 😮 , every comment you make is top notch 😊 , you sure know your stuff and I for one am very happy to know of you 👌🏻
Very moving episode. Good writing and acting. Emotional dialogue and close-ups between the gypsy and Blake's character are really intense and well done. Superb direction by John Newland (who not only hosted but directed most of this series' episodes).
A young Robert Blake great actor
Hysterical! They climbed on boxes and climbed over the wall? Can't do that nowadays.
Unfortunately, you're right
Sometimes you get lucky and an actor or actress that you recognize pop up on this show or others like it. The story lines are so clever. Thanks for posting so many of them for all of us to enjoy.
Stunning. Utterly stunning.
Consummately brilliant acting, haunting incidental music, and a great storyline.
One of the best One Step Beyond episodes ever.
Robert Blake - such a good actor. . . he seems content now, i hope so. . .
The Gypsy actor was very good, too. he was around a lot :)
I watched Blake in the mid 70s series Beretta, a great show with lots of ironic humor and good police stories. He did a great tv play in the 80s where he played Jimmy Hofer, acting brilliantly. He was built like a tank at 5"6'. He has however a dark side, as we all know!
What dark side?
Sport we all have a dark side regardless of who we are.
Belinda, how can Blake be younger than his as you call it kid mother?
@ClearView Wow, thanks for all of the info. I lived not far from them when all of this happened, but didn't keep up with it. Hard to believe that she seduced so many men. As I recall, she was not very attractive.
He was tried for killing his criminal wife - and acquitted!
When I was 5 to 8 years old I remember watching this show all the time with my Mom late at night. It made my eyes water then... and it still does now. You should also know that my Mother has always had some kind of sociopathic experiences too.
We connected watching this together. Brings back good memories of my Mom.
I don't know how true the story's are, but they always seem real to me.
Robert Blake was the young lad selling a lottery ticket to Humphrey Bogert in the movie ( The treasure of Serria Madire )
@Ian Mangham Gee no worries Ian.
I admire John Newlands . A truely great writer.
Harry Lubin's music is hauntingly beautiful
😅 100 episodes are true facts would never get another show like this ever again I enjoy every moment of it
Robert Blake was an excellent actor. He was fantastic in this. He created so much pathos for this character.
One of my favorite "One Step Beyond" episodes 👍👍
I LOVE JOHN NEWLAND !!!!!!!!!!
Performance is great. Episode with depth and feeling ❤
I love Robert Blake.
Whens the happy day.
God works in mysterious ways.
Gypsy encouraged me too. "18 months, that's not a long time. You're strong, you can handle 18 months. Then you'll be free." Just one day here seems like a lifetime after 12 years of being stuck here. Okay, Gypsy, I'll hang on a little longer. I'm a strong woman.
the theme music always gave me goose bumps
Great episode anything with a supernatural twist i can watch.
Came across this series of one step beyond and am now a fan.
These episodes are very enjoyable. Thank you.
'We're going to escape from prison. We'll be using the Sashay method."
Robert Blake's life is now one step beyond just like the character in the show very scary
This a great shop for binge watching
What a performance by Robert Blake , but the one actor that really impressed me was Johnny Seven who played the gypsy, I mean he was magnificent 👌🏻
Un poête ce Gipsy ! That said, the long monologues are captivating, difficult task for even a great actor...
Edit; Reading the comments,I discovered the life of an (unknown) actor due to my French culture,And it seems that this life was a tragic movie by itself!
This remains,my favorite of all-in-one Step stories. Been appreciating it for years.
Great one !
The best of these I've seen so far!
Still a kid in this show too love Robert Blake still handsome men .
You did for me,now I'm doing for you, those words should always be adhered to...
Robert Blake is a good actor and always was. Anything he's acting in, shows how good he is. And that woman they said he killed, she wasnt too nice.
She was a con, some said she probably had a line of people who wanted to kill her.
Same here. Love this show.
Good episode Blake should have learned something back then.
Binge watching these episodes. I have 50 shows left to watch of OSB. Every episode is fascinating. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the sharing of this video.
Blake really killed in this role
I've been a Robert Blake fan for many decades since the little rascals and always thought he was an excellent actor PERIOD
I have no idea how Mickey from Our Gang turned into Robert Blake.
Maybe someday we all make a break from Coronahysteria prison
YES!! This is bullshit
We aint going to die in no sewer pipe.
Never seen these before, really enjoying them.
Another movie I liked him in was electra glide in blue (1973 but it is not on CZcams, just 3 min clips
Robert Blake was Barrett on later TV as a cop that had good disguises.
Barretta.
Brilliant Film❤
A super amazing true story.
Did anyone see Robert Blake in Mokey? He was like 7 or 8 and it's a really interesting movie. What an actor!
These are actually way better than either the twilight zone or the outer limits.
Once the background music starts....the "Heebee-Jeebees" start!! And that's Baretta in his younger days. ;-)
And inmates cannot wear earrings of any kind when locked up in any of the 3 prisons I've worked in.
Robert Blake, Electra Glide in Blue, great movie.
I love the song Terry Kath sang at the end....
The actor who played 'Gypsy" was interesting-but I've never heard of him-Johnny Seven.
His birth name was John (Giovanni) Fetto and he did a lot of work as a film and TV character actor in the 50s and 60s. He played the part of Fran's brother in law Karl in The Apartment with Jack Lemmon. Came out same time as this episode of OSB
Very handsome! Reminds me of Tony Curtis.
If John Newland were still alive, he'd make a great Chris Hansen/To Catch a Predator host.
Omg 😂 SPOILER ALERT:
when gypsy face planted in the dirt, I couldn’t help but giggle a little. that was a bit over dramatic but amazing lol. thank you for uploading these gems!!
Spoiler Alert ...

16:40 The Gypsy, being near death, was able to perceive what the young man was experiencing, and relate it to his own life circumstances when he was younger himself. Yet, we learn later that the Gypsy was already deceased. So in fact, the perception the Gypsy had was from a realm between this life and the next, which explains why he had the ability to perceive more.
Brilliant acting and direction.
TV was much better in the 60's and One Step Beyond is on the list. Twilight Zone, Outer Limits and early Star Trek fall into this genre of great scripts , great acting and budget as secondary. Music and political discussion was also far better on mainstream TV. What happened? Thank You CZcams!
Agree fully
I hated to see how Robert Blake’s life ended- I really liked him
He's still living.
@@matrox Not anymore
I love Robert Blake❤️
I love this series.
Does anyone know of any episodes of The Outer Limits? I just love these old shows. Thank you for posting. 😊

@@rwc7632 thank you. I have fond memories of this when I was younger. 😄
I'm a big fan of the original Outer Limits. One of the best television shows ever made! Most episodes of this short-lived series were great. Seven exceptional episodes: The Sixth Finger, The Galaxy Being, The Bellero Shield, The Man With the Power, The Architects of Fear, Nightmare, and ZZZZZ! Check them out. You won't be disappointed.
I love Robert Blake in Baretta
not much noise from Mr. Blake these days
(June of 2017) .. too bad .. I think he could still do interesting performances & his circumstances were much different than OJ
I do love Robert Blake. Maybe I'm stupid but I'm still 50/50 on whether he did it or not.
@@violetmiller9999 I 99% feel he was in on. Too bizarre had to go back into the restaurant to get a gun he accidentally left there. I mean really, it's not like a wallet. And where he parked is highly suspicious. The wife was playing Russian roulette with men, laying traps and hoping to rope someone like him. Well she got her man and then he got her. There were most likely several men giving a sigh of relief because they dodged the Bonnie bullet.
REST IN PEACE ROBERT BLAKE❤❤
The DVD movie of In Cold BLood, starring Philip Seymore Hoffman as Capote, Katherine Keen as Nell Parker Lee, the part of murderer Perry smith, was played by Clifton Collins, Jr. not Robert Blake... Guess there were two movies? This was directed by Bennett Miller.
The 1967 film "In Cold Blood" starring Robert Blake and Scott Wilson was based on the Novel written by Capote.
I was not aware there were two films made of Truman Capote's book, In Cold Blood. However, as I stated, I guessed there were two made..Clifton Collins, Jr. was exceptional good also in his role as Perry. Sorry I missed the first one.. Who played Truman Capote in the first, I wonder. Thank you for answering and also all the GREAT movies you share.
The DvD I am pertaining to showed the story of Truman and his many trips to the prison, getting to know the townspeople, getting attached to Perry// and his gradual decline afterwards. SO we are talking about the same title of a movie, but with different actors. ?? I have not seen the one with Robert Blake and Scott WIlson. Hope you get to view the one I have. Thank you so very much for your posts and interacting with your fans is just awesome.
shirley savitts There are 2 movies:
“In Cold Blood” with Robert Blake playing killer Perry Smith (made in the 60’s) in which there was no real
Character playing Truman Capote. Just an unnamed journalist appearing periodically
throughout the film. The other movie is entitled “Capote”, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as Truman Capote. That movie focuses on the relationship between the real
Capote & the real killer Perry Smith. Hoffman won the Oscar for that performance, which he 100% deserved. Both were excellent movies.
quite a story.
the prison looks like a movie studio where the series was filmed
This was a pretty good one.
Thank you
I've always said robert was a consummate actor. I rest my case.
They sure were slow going over that wall.
John Newman was awesome.
"Don't Do The Crime, If You Cant Do The Time"....................DON'T DO IT !
YOU CAN TAKE DAT TO THE BANK
Four guys to a cell. That's the way it was for me in the San Diego Central Detention in 1989. Except for the overflow guys stuck in the walkways.
Some real convicts used black pepper to mess up the tracking ability of the dogs if they inhaled it while following the scent.
That's what Paul Newman's character used in his movie "Cool Hand Luke", to thwart the bloodhounds chasing him! 🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🦺
Good one
I LOVE JOHN NEWLAND
Robert Blake was a child actor from the 1930s Our Gang series.
One of the Best!
@@susanbengston3208 He died last month.
Great episode I believe it 👍🇺🇸
The boy came back because he got hungry.
To see a young Robert Blake, in a prison cell, saying "there's nothing worth losing your freedom for." Years later he would be on trial for murdering his wife. 😐
The more I looked at the Gypsy the more I saw Telly Savalas. Almost but not quite.
Boy that siren is frightening
Yeh, that siren is scary- gives me the horrible feeling of innocents running from the German concentration camps
Blake playing a jailbird in the beginning of his career as he should be in real life.
Why does this remind me of the story, "Of Mice & Men"?
Because the best laid plan went awry
Is it because of their outfits? Jean/blue shirts with jeans...
I know why he went back. He left his gun in the restaurant.
😆
Love this one
Wasn't this also known as Alcoa Theater? Loved the music.
Good one 👍
O Boy! Robert Blake@@!!!!!!
