Everything in this video is my personal opinion and experience, and should not be considered professional advice. Always do your own research and make sure what you're doing is safe.
Even though I don't really need that, this is still an absolutely splendid tutorial. Your videos are always so high-quality, especially the ones about compiling libs such as openssl were incredibly helpful. Thank you
thanks this helped a lot
Fantastic and simple….thank you 👍🇦🇺
Thank you mate, worked perfectly.
i get very scared when i change the speed because it gets louder and i feel like it’s gonna explode
bruh it makes it do the opposite of explode your safe to turn it all the way up as long as its not using too much power which fans rarely does
🤣🤣 same with me but when my laptop get high temp for 1st time 😎
is okay if you are smart you can easily get your gpu colder
might make your fans live less but fans are cheap compared to a new gpu
You haven’t had a Blower then , that stuff is loud

very helpful, exactly what I need
Thank you for the video, I had no idea what I was doing.
nice explanation! thanks
Thank you!
thank you so much, my GPU was running at 100 degrees f and now its at like 70 or so, thanks so much!
you can fine tune it to get the best noise to heat level and setting your intake and outake fans to static speed or a low and high fan speed level will help keep the case cool and quite instead of constant changing of fan speeds
100 degrees fahrenheit is like idle temp for a gpu, do u mean celsius?
100 degrees doesn't make sense in both C and F. For C too high, your GPU would have already been fried, for F, that's already normal temps when idle
very gud tutorial 👍
Thanks for the firmware tip.
thank you brother, I have a graphics rtx 3060, I bought a computer in a store, after a few months after I bought it, it started giving me problems and it got very hot, and when I downloaded the application that you showed, it turned out that the fans were blocked up to 40% speed thank you
Thank you for this high quality tutorial! very easy to follow. Just a question though, has anyone figured out what will happen if you enable both the auto and user mode at the same time?
Edit: I seem to have found the following by clicking around.
Only Auto Enabled: Default card settings
Auto & User Enabled: Your fan curves
Only User Enabled: The slider fan speed
None Enabled: Also the slider fan speed
1st thing i do in the settings is to uncheck the tooltips and hints it is really annoying ,thank you for the video
what the most stable fan speed for 3060 12gb for gameing every video card it start heat up when you play game on steam it get hot
as of the moment I am typing this i cant do any of that because the fan tab in settings is gone
hey. i just tried overclocking my gpu but when i try to move tje bar it wont move.
im guessing its somewhat related to me having a intel gpu with a nvidia/two gpus. anyone have solutions?
Hi there, is it possible to set my fans to 800-900 rpm when card goes over 35c using afterburner, I have an msi rx6800 x trio?
can u suggest it for 3060ti dual?
should i enable firmware fan control in msi afterburner i have a gtx 1060
if you use the Radeon graphics card and it's application then you can change your fan settings in there you have to go to Performance > Tuning > on the right side of the "Tuning Control" panel hit "Custom" > Enable fan tuning below that > Enable "Advanced Control" and then you can edit your fan speed in there
your sussy
bruh i am not getting any option when i choose " Custom " in Tuning Control !
yea but it resets like every week
I dont know even If I set the curve and then click on user defined, the temp stays on whatever is fan speed % in control panel (lets say 51 as you have in the video) and everything else is ignored
i dont have the option on my laptop or is it only for pc?
Is this different from MsI centre?
ok, but when u don't want a beta version ? when you want a stable version ? because you you DL 464, and me it's 465beta2 :/
If i save to firmware will it still work even tho msi is clsoe
My 3080 suprim x was 77 C When i play warzone now 60-65 thank you!
Is there a way to know the default fan curve from the factory?
Turn off manual fan control and let the gpu auto adjust it self
I tried following the tutorial, but I cannot click on anything (other than the settings tab) and nothing works
Stupid question: I'm planning to buy a second hand MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Ventus XS. It says in some review conclusions "No idle-fan stop" as a con, meaning the fans will spin even in idle mode. I am wondering, could I use the MSI afterburner with that specific card so that ever it is running below 50c degrees, the fans would go to 0%?
Yes u can
does this work for an acer nitro 5
so i gotta run afterburner all the time or else it wont do it?
Please I need an advice , I have AMD Ryzen 3600X paired with 1070 Ti , my temperature goes till 85 C , if I use MSI after burner to set my power usage low and adjust the temperature till 65 C , will it effect my GPU or CPU ?
GPU, afterburner only does GPU overclock. You might want to replace the thermal paste on that card if it overheats constantly.
@@bigsmoke53 yeah i changed the paste yesterday , now the temperatures are going pretty smooth
i have no option for firmware control mode
I can't tick that auto..gpu fan is at min stage
watched my gpu temp drop like 5 degrees as soon as I hit the apply button, cheers
Fan Speed is grayed out for me. I uninstalled and reinstalled MSI afterburner and nothing happened. I do not have "fan" tab as an option either. Help!!!!
how about independent curves for two fan groups
hello , should i keep GPU fans on Automatic or manual ?
auto
Mine is locked on auto i cant switch my fan settings to manual and cant see a fan tab in my main settings
It’s not letting me change my power limit and fan speed can someone help
For anyone that doesn’t want to upgrade cooling tech, I’d recommend Undervolting GPU in MSI prior to relying on Fans to provide extra cooling
And do say it make gpu stop working in game if do it wrong
Undervolt is not super if you dont want spent time.
Feel like hysteresis and response time could have used a quick explanation, but otherwise, good guide for the basics.
If i want to use my fan curve, do i need to enable both auto and user define or just user define?
same q bro
I have a new RTX 4070, Is it normal that while I’m playing assassins creed Valhalla at ultra graphics and 60fps capped, my gpu temperatures are between 30C-40C?
I don’t know if that’s normal, because in some benchmarking videos the gpu temperatures are between 50c-68c
Late answer: synthetic tests are specifically designed to push the GPU hard, while game developers (generally) try to optimize their graphics to do the opposite. Also, I suspect you're gaming in a lower resolution, like 1080p, for which that 4070 is complete overkill and doesn't get fully utilized, so you get literal idle temperatures.
Generally speaking, components running cold is never a cause for concern, unless they're noticeably underperforming. Less heat - more longevity for the system.
I am unable to access fan speed section. Can anybody tell me how to access it
The worst part is it is set to lowest speed 😭
Is the base curve you get in the software what the graphics card would do without being altered? Or is it just the base curve for Afterburner?
The problem is I dont see "Fan" on the properties. I only see Monitor. Which is odd since I have 2 fans.
what if there is no fan tab?
I set up my gpu, click aply. Close afterburner and the setting is gone.
i cant change the fan speed?
Hi I have laptop msi GF76 11UE in afterburner properties Fan tap not appear and I can't control fans by this program. can you help me . thank you
Use the msi laptoo software
How comes that I don't see the same options at all? The entire Fan section isn't in options at all. (along with other options you seem to have) I only see "General" "monitoring" "profiles" "user interface" as tabs in options.
Same. *sigh*

my gpu fan starts spinning at 50C, how do i change to starts spinning at 55C or 60C, it keeps turning on and off while i'm playing games that dont require too much like roblox or minecraft so i guess this would reduce the time of the card
Your fan spinning won't affect the life of your card, plus setting it to only spin at 60C is really bad
@@PauloCesar-vh5kk but I need to turn them on always but smoothly from 0-100%, but new GPU starts from 30%. How to force it to start from 0 % , and with new 3060 there is yellow line 30% like in the video, on my 1050 ti I dont have it and it goes smoothly from 0% no noise.

Hello, I have GTX 1070 MSI Armor, my fan speed 50% when it touch 57C, and 0%(Stop) when it touch 55C, always loop up like that, is that okay? or what should I do? its looping every 10 seconds
the constant ramp up and down between 0 and 50% is causing more wear and tear on the fan motors than if you were to set your fans to be on at a low rpm on idle.
@@ThinkPositiveDude what should I do? Is that normal?
I can’t access the fan

Do you keep the auto button on or off if you want your custom curved?
@looots - Click auto ON, then apply to use your custom curve. If you look at Hardware monitor on the right, you'll see your fan speed if you scroll down a bit.
So don't use auto?
I wish you could set it up so fans turn on @35 degrees but turns off @ 30 degrees. If it can, how?
keep the graph to 0 when at 30 degrees. and pull your graph up at 35 or any degrees you want. So it will only turn on when your gpu is 35 degrees
@@siddhantnaik9011 but I did it and my fans starts from 30% always it is anoying, it is like 5 sec cooling 5 sec off etc. On my 1050 ti I could start smoothly from 0-to 100% here 3060 ti and 30% from the start.
@@DaaronIrwing 30% is the minimum speed for fans, you can't get them lower. In other words, they start at 30% speed.
I don’t have the fan section
can i use msi if i have asus rtx card?
yeah
No idea how I missed that tab... :/
I have my curve kick in 100% at 78 so that way I have a little time before it hits 80. Part of me wants to just 100% it all the time but replacing the GPU fan sounds like ass for the little gain I'd get in cooling. At that point I'd rather just water cool my gpu.
fans are easy to replace (if they fail), the hardest part is finding the correct size that fits your heatsink, but odds are by the time your fans fail, if they fail, it would already be time for an upgrade or time to open up your GPU and reapply fresh thermal paste and pads. I still wouldn't run it 100% all the time though because of the noise.
80 is still a safe temperature, I would recommend 100% fan speed at 88 or higher
does this work on an msi laptop too
Not likely, it's meant for desktop GPU'S that have their own PCB's and fans. For laptops it's better to use whatever software is recommended by the manufacturer to adjust fans.
DO NOT USE ON LAPTOP PLEASE ITS NOT FOR THAT YOUR GONNA MESS UP YOUR SYSTEM!
@@ItzMeLilGVERIFIED doesnt work anyways lol
I knew this already but i hate doing this, the fans on the rx 580 are already too noisy at 30-40 %
you should change thermal past
if you want the fan curve to start when you start your pc and you dont want to open msi after burner every time make sure you have the start at windows start up on
Nice video but your instructions are misleading. You actually have to make sure "Auto" is radio dialed after you set the fan curve to your liking. If you leave "Auto" unselected, the fan is going to go off whatever the slider is set to manually. After that, you can select "User Defined" (it will have a green border if enabled) and hit "Apply" at that point. I also hit "Save" and then select one of the profiles to keep the changes.
hm if I hit auto after setting the fan curve it just reverts back to auto adjustment and ignores my fan curve...
@Grrakkh because that's what it does lol
@@whendarknessfalls6969 No it's not. If you hit auto after setting up your own curve then it should use that curve. If you have auto unselected your fans will stay at the manual speed you defined forever. You want auto to be enabled.

My GPU fans does not seem run slower than 30%. No matter what i put my settings on.
Some GPUs have a limit that they are normally not allowed to go below, in your case that would be 30% speed. there should be a override button below the can curve box. just be sure to read the tooltip.

Let the GPU work as they set it up. If you have bad temperatures, it's better to solve your Air flow in the case
Should I leave it on default then?
@@bigbeet8729 Yeah. Best to have headphones and don't worry about it. They test the graphics and they know what they're doing. If you have a problem, it's bad air flow
Noise can also be caused by dust in the graphics.
@@XMoldyMe That might entail a new case for most users, as adding more powerful fans to an existing case may prove a wasted effort.
Glass front panels look great but are absolutely terrible for airflow when compared to mesh and when temps count, there's little room for compromise with one exception...
