This is a re-mastered version of Nick Harper's Bloom from a 2006 concert he did in Canterbury's Gulbenkian Theatre. (Now properly in 16:9 with sound compression)
awesome joh Martin. I remember that gig very well. He's back in Canterbury in just three weeks - 25th April 2014 at the Kingston Barn - any Kent Harpic fans - details on Folk in the Barn website
Nick does sometimes remind me of Jeff Buckley in some ways, but only because both are unique and so free in the range of their beautiful voices. And Nick has a lot of strength in his singing ...
As per the other comment, Nick’s unique guitar sound, stunning deep tone which resonates filling the room with that huge sound is due to his Dad but probably not in the way you’d expect! When Nick played alongside Roy all those years ago, he dropped the tone of his guitar as Roy’s vocals deepened with age, Nick had such low slung tuning he had to butcher his guitar to accommodate the necessary strings to achieve the tone he wanted…so from that day onwards I think he’s got at least 2, if not 3, piano strings on his guitar! Which also probably gives you a clue to why he has to belt the hell out of it when required. Amazing guitarist, songwriter and unbelievably underrated vocalist as well. Great guy too, so thankful I was introduced to his music, as there’s nobody else like Nick.
Steven Wilson made me go here... Thank you Steven and thank you Nick.
Nick is awesome, scary, impressive and angel-like- all at the same time. Nice footage, but the real thing is even better!!!
I was there that night!
fantastic job on the sound well done thank you
His dad's got to be a proud dad. :)
This is some dark shit, man

The guitar sounds about 10ft wide... stereo emulation by any chance? ;)
Needless to say, what an impressive bit of footage!
I've heard him live; he got that massive guitar sound from his dad.
